2025-2026 Loyola (Stritch)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
does anyone know how strict they are with LOR guidelines? i didn’t know they want a letter from a professor at every university you’ve attended and i was a transfer student halfway through undergrad. spent 3 out of 4 semesters online at my first college too, so i’m not sure how strong a letter will be :/

Are we supposed to use any optional prompts to address gap years? I took two so not sure where to discuss it

The phonetic website they provide gives such an interesting word. should we just copy and paste from there?

For question #3 could I use an example of advocating for a marginalized group through advocating for policy change? or would they like me to use something with more direct work like working in a rural community or soup kitchen?

I used a short story working with the underserved and then built my health policy work into the what I learned if that makes sense.

make sense. my volunteer work is the opposite of the story I have for advocating for policy change so it would be hard to work both in. Thank you!

I FINALLY FINISHED. 6 PAGES OF ESSAYS ON MY GOOGLE DOC. SINGLE SPAAACCEEDDD.

RAHHHH. I'm a weapon. I'm an essay-writing absolute weapon. Would it be out of pocket to use this secondary as my anecdote for overcoming challenges in other schools essays?
those essays were lowk a grind, i submitted like sunday and man. Thank goodness, I had other essays from other schols that were really similar

I have gotten my secondary on August 7

I saw a lot of people complaining on Reddit, so I want to mention to those who are still writing that I did not fill up all 500 words for most of the prompts. For a few, I just filled up half, around 250 words, and I got an interview invite. The quality is what matters (+ the rest of the app)!

Does anyone have any advice on how to address - "Consider also what you may be curious about regarding our institutional mission and identity." i'm not exactly sure what they're asking

I interpreted it as asking what do you like about their mission and identity. Basically “why us” but in relation to the mission

Edit: Whoops, didn’t see your LM initially. Signature lines apparently don’t show up on mobile when in portrait mode. My bad!

And I am aware knowing your LM will not help my application! My applications are all already submitted. I’m just asking to gauge what range this school (and other schools) are offering II’s and whether I am in that range. Sorry for the hassle!! It’s a thread for medical school applications; I’m interested in what people’s stats are!

I check Admit.org too but a bunch of people don’t list their stats in their profile so sometimes it offers only limited info.

Hey @not_houseMD the secret trick to seeing a signature line with stats if you’re on a phone is to turn the phone sideways ( landscape view)

Just a reminder for everyone, they offer in-person and virtual interviews this year (which I was not aware of). I decided on in-person since I am within driving distance, but does anyone have any insight for any particular admissions advantage? Does going in person show more interest?

Im sure they can’t give a true advantage to the in person but you are more likely to interview well because they can see your body language.

Students who interview (erm) will say that there is no advantage to interviewing in person vs virtual. Nothing different in the evaluation. It's just as easy to discern a rehearsed answer in person vs virtual. However like another poster mentioned, a lot of the time it is easier to vibe with someone/read body language in person. I would also say it is a good opportunity to get more opportunities to see what the student body/culture is like in person, more opportunity for side questions on the tour/panels, interact with other applicants on the trail etc, so the overall experience might be more advantageous in person. The student who told me this may or may not have done a virtual interview when they themselves were applying😉

Does anyone know if more interview slots open up on the portal? I only see one for a virtual interview, and I'd ideally like to go in-person.

There were only 2 options for me, both on the same week, and they suggested picking a date within 3 days of the II, so I would just do virtual if I were you.

Has anyone noticed on MSAR that last year, more people matriculated (63) than were interviewed in state (53)? Also, the OOS matriculation was very high, with 103/154 people who interviewed matriculating. Does anyone know why this would be the case, other than some sort of reporting error? Do they really only interview ~1.5% of applicants OOS, or is this a mistake?

I just got an II! However, I live out of state. Should I try to fly in for the in person or should I do virtual? I cannot tell.

For anyone that interviewed with Loyola, when do they assign you your interviewers? I have mine tomorrow! But haven't received anything yet.

CONGRATS!!! how did they let you know?
Thank you!!! A vice dean called me from a number I did not recognize. It will be a phone call. The acceptance should be reflected in your portal shortly after, though they haven't yet updated mine.

Hi y'all! Quick question: when they call, will it appear as 'Spam Risk' or will they give the name of the city/state? Because one of my fears is admissions calling me with a "Spam Risk" number lol. Congrats to those who got in!!
