I just received my confirmation packet from the AADSAS. Does that mean they have mailed my applications to the schools? How long till I start hearing?
 
yes, it means that the schools have your appliaction. you'll have to wait 1-2 weeks for them to review it and let you know what is missing. After you send them the application fees and all other things they ask for (DAT, LOR...) you can start waiting for interviews. If you are a qualified applicant and everything goes fine expect your first invites within 3-5 weeks.

I never send my application fee to NYU and I received a rejection leter a week ago LOL

recieved confirmation from University of Maryland today....and scheduled my DAT 😱
 
recieved confirmation of course descriptions and LORs from nova..thats 3/4, still haven't heard from Marquette
 
I got a letter from Tufts that i need to send an application fee to them.

Didn't hear from Tufts yet, and I applied very early (May 19th), but schools didn't receive my application until June 22.... when did you apply?

Tufts is my second choice, after OSU.
 
got a letter from columbia saying they still need DAT scores... 🙂 Guess that's not much.

I sent my application on 5/19 too.
 
Hey guys-

I have a question. I sent my application in on July 5th. Am i suppose to call AADSAS about the number that everybody is talking about or just wait to hear from them or what? Also, im not taking the DAT until Aug 18 so will they just wait to send me any supplimental things? One more thing, I have a previous employer who is writing my letter of evaluation whom I did research for and he wants to know what to write in the letter. Can anyone give me some ideas of what to tell him? Thanks bunches!
 
Unless if you really need the AADSAS applicant ID now, you can just wait for them to send you the application confirmation after when they have process your application. On the confirmation form, it will indicate your ID.

Usually most schools start sending you supplemental forms even if they haven't received your scores, but you should ask respective schools about this. (If they need the scores, then you can fax in the Personal DAT scores, the one that you'll receive immediately at the conclusion of the test, to each schools)

There are no restrictions on the LORs. LOR can include academic performance, research experience, personal character and abilities, interest in the dental profession, volunteer experiences, etc. Since your professor might not know every single thing about you, I should suggest that you should supply him with such much information as you can (ie: transcript(s), applicant essay, resume, reference letters from past work, etc.) That way, he will have a better idea of you as an individual and therefore be able to write a more detailed LOR.

First off, I would recommend that he include anecdotal information, such as your work ethic, your ability manage stressful situations, and so on. I supplied each of my recommendors with my Cirriculum Vitae (which is sort of an academic resume detailing a person's scholastic activities and accomplishments), work history, and personal statement so as to inform them about my life outside of their classroom, practice, etc. I think doing so gives them a better understaning of you, which can translate into a better LOR. That is what I advise doing.

AADSAS: Confirmation packet received today 7/24. Submitted on 6/25. i.d.# 16XXs (the #s are growing fast huh?)

I got a secondary from ucsf. so freaking long.
 
Yup, that's UCSF. Dont sweat too much.
Most of them are just filling out bio info.
The most difficult part is the essay, though they kinda prepare me for their interview.
 
I got a secondary app from Arizona today (7.26.04) via email. I submitted to AADSAS around June 15th, and my app was sent to the schools by the AADSAS last Tuesday (7.20.04). I'm guessing the schools recieved my app on Thursday or Friday.

Any words of advice for the Arizona secondary?

I just recieved my confirmation letter along with the AADSAS transcripts of grades from AADSAS.

Marquette is reviewing my file.


TMDSAS just sent there confirmation letter along with TMDSAS transcripts of grades as well.


So this vicious cylce begins again.

Hi LumbeeDr.

I'm in the same shoes you are...preparing to retake the DAT on 8/16. How did you do the first time? I got a 16/19. My PAT wasn't bad but my AA needs work. good luck!
 
Just called and recieved my AADSAS number. My app was submitted on July 12 and my number is in the 21xx's! 😱 It's hard to believe that over 1/4 of the applications have
been submitted by the middle of July(assuming about 8000 apps per year) when there are
still 4 months of application time left...

I couldn't agree more. UCSF was the first secondary I received. I was scared that all secondaries would be this detailed and rigorous, but UCLA and Nova both were much more manageable.

Good luck with yours! Let us know when you finish it! I hope to send mine out this Saturday.

i sent out aadsas on 06/01 and still haven't heard from usc. i'm calling them this afternoon, i'll post the results.
 
Nova email: Received my LOR from my Dentist.
 
I just recieved my aadsas confirmation packet. Should I send in my application fees now?

I called USC this afternoon, and the guy over the phone told me that they won't start the review process until mid-August, and told me to call back early september.
 
the way i c it, except for like case and like a handful of other schools, alotta' dental schools aren't starting their 'actual process' of reading the apps, till like mid august and some mid september... well i guess at least august is around the corner... by the way, does anyone know of any schools besides case, who are starting interviews in august? 😕

san antonio, houston, and baylor are all starting next week.
 
Has anybody heard back from UCLA after sending in the secondary and fee? I sent both in about three weeks ago and the check has still not gone through. I'm beginning to worry that I sent it to the wrong address - since there was no address specified on the form I sent it to the return address on the postcard. Has anybody heard from them who sent it to this address? Am I just being paranoid? :scared:

i haven't heard back yet either jess..and its been a couple of weeks... lets see what happens this week.. maybe some news...
 
UCLA and USC ran way behind the rest of the schools last year. just be patients my friends.
 
Thanks guys for easing my mind, I have another question about UCLA (can you tell that noboby from the school is answering my e-mail?): Does UCLA require LORs? I can not find info about them anywhere on the website or the secondary. Am I missing something, or do they just assume that applicants send them through AADSAS? BTW - my school refuses to use AADSAS for LORs and photocopies and sends them out themselves. So I'm wondering if I should send the packet on over to UCLA?

Any thoughts?

I applied June 2nd. The question really just focused your you background. IT basically wants to regurgitate your AADSAS, maybe in more detail. ie. ext. activities, research, volunteering. Also the last question is what qualities sets you apart from similiar UCSF applicatns?
