They don't call people, but acceptance arrives by first-class mail, usually the next day (from the day the send it, not necessarily the same day as the meeting). Big envelope with UC seal on it, can't miss it. Good luck everyone.

They submit the interview report before they see your profile, so that you numbers and other extra info don't affect their impressions of you from the interview. That's the reason behind the whole "Don't contact interviewers or die" thing, too. They only see your profile when they come back for the final committee meeting on you.

So, this isn't actually completely accurate. Interviewers write an initial report "blind", than see applicant's completed file, then write a final summary report that includes everything. Then the applicant's file goes to panel.

Thanks! Hopefully it won't take too long for the envelope to travel 2,199 miles...

Gonna bump this... hopefully next week brings good news for all of us! :luck::luck::luck:

Looks like UCSF and Stanford decisions will be coming out together next week! This is so scary. I seriously hope at least one of them takes me. Otherwise, this is going to be one miserable holiday for me. 🙁

Since I interviewed 11/20, would it be safe to assume I won't hear till late January, or is it possible to hear in December?

:xf: I wonder if they'll update the status page, like UCLA did. That would be better than frantically checking the mailbox every day this week, haha.

Judging from previous years' threads, they don't update the status. Odds are first envelopes will arrive Wed, maybe tomorrow. Good luck to December people, I'm waiting for Jan!

p.s. sorry to make your heart skip again by raising this thread 😛

 I kind of want to call my student host and ask if he would like to undertake a recon mission for me...

Hahaha... 🙂

I guess they probably cant tell us anything over the phone either.

So, is the theory that they're meeting tonight and will send out letters tonight/tomorrow?

I live about 30 min away from SF so I'll see if anything shows up tomorrow...

That is the theory...🙂

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about Shemarty!

Does anyone know when second look will be this year? I know this is really early but just wanted to make sure I'll be in the country then if I get an offer.

If things haven't changed much from last year, it will be early May. Last year it was May 3rd.

Should we wait, or should we call the office and see if they can tell us when the letters will be mailed?

I just called. I was told that they would be sending out a small number of acceptances NEXT Monday...:scared:

Shemarty you're freaking me out each time this comes up! We should get them today or tomorrow, right? That's going on what the current student said about them coming the day after they're mailed. I'm a half hour or so away, so maybe it would come quicker for me. Also, I'm assuming the letters aren't just for acceptances but could be waitlists or rejections--think this is true? Maybe we should call....

Thanks for calling!

I'm going to be out of town next week, too. 🙁 I'll try calling them next Tuesday to see if they can tell me over the phone. Or, maybe the status page will update?

I called and asked if they would tell us over phone and the answer was a firm and definite "No!"

*sigh* Okay.

I'm going to Vegas for a couple days w/ my parents, and we're driving home on my birthday (Dec 26th).

I'm moderately bummed to be spending my b-day on the road, but I guess I can look forward to a potential present in my mailbox.

I'm sure the info from the office is legit but UCSF goes on winter break this Friday and the interview email says: "We will not be conducting interviews on the following holidays: 11/11, 11/27, 12/18 - 1/2, 1/19, 2/16."

So I guess then the adcom will still be around even though they call Thursday the beginning of the "holidays" ??

It's winter break for students, not necessarily faculties/administrative people. Should you come and interview on, say next Monday, you'll find a totally empty campus, with no student to talk to, no class to sit in, and no tour guide to take you around. Not the best recruiting strategy😉

another one for the late applicants, complete 10/20-something, interview invite today

I'd do it if I were you. UCSF is a great school and definitely worth it.

thanks for the feedback guys. I'm having trouble getting a good flight since i'm flying west, anyone know what time the day ends? is it really at 5 pm? the best flights i've found are at 5:25 and 6 pm, i didn't know if i could duck out early to make them. thanks in advance!!

My day was over at 2:30 because I had one in the morning and one in the afternoon. If you have 2 afternoon interviews, then the day will go longer. I dunno if you can request a morning one?

Does anyone know if UCSF has video and or audio recorded lectures?

Also, is the grading system strictly pass/fail or are there a few honors as well? I know many schools tout their pass/fail grading system only to later reveal that a few students actually receive honors.

How many hours of class time are there each week? On the UCSF website it says there are only 20 hours, is this correct?
first two years are strictly pass/fail without honors.

lectures are recorded in audio and lecture cast (audio+powerpoint)

class time is about 20 hours, but that varies by week and may go up if we have preceptorships and/or labs that week.

Thanks, has anyone had 2 morning interviews? just want to see if its possible before i start calling them 🙂

Not on my interview day. My morning interview was during the "sit in on a class" time slot. 3 of us had interviews during that slot, the other people sat in on the class and had both of their interviews in the afternoon. I'm fairly sure there isn't time to have 2 in the morning.

ahh, gotcha. thanks!

We're going out of town all week, so I was gonna have somebody check my mail for me on Wednesday.

But....my mom's having the post office hold our mail so it doesn't get rained on!

Oh, the suspense!

good luck to all those waiting on offers of admission!

Can I get a little input from those already granted interviews or rejections? -- how long after your secondary application was complete did you receive further news? I got my OOS apps out pretty late and wasn't marked complete on my UCSF secondary until 12/16. I'm already antsy and it has been less than a week!

I was complete on 8/22, and I received the interview invite on 10/3. You can also find this data on the interview invite thread, because people list their complete date, invite date, and interview date.

anyone have any feedback on what the PRIME interviews are like? (both in person and phone) thanks!

there was nothing unusual about my PRIME interview. in fact, it was almost exactly like my regular interview because my interests and experiences are already integrated into working with the urban underserved. this probably was especially true because my interviewer knew about the clinic that I worked at and had an idea of what I was seeing on a day-to-day basis.

specific PRIME questions I got:

Which populations are you most interested in working with?
Which population has been the most challenging?

Hey guys, I'm a new one to SDN.

I'm also crossing my fingers for UCSF, although i'm not expecting anything until January (interviewed on Nov. 10th)

Best of luck to everyone!
