I'm getting worried! Theyve had my app for 2 wks, and I'm still not complete. I wonder what's up.

I wouldn't worry about it... it took almost 2.5 weeks for them to complete me (that sounds funny).
 
Dulcina, better to be worrying about being complete than worrying about whether a secondary invite will come! 😛

hmmm i'm still not complete. I'm getting that message to email them if im not complete in EIGHT (!) weeks. It's been 3 so far, so i guess i have a bit longer to wait lol 🙄
 
it takes a while, i know they received my letters a while back but it still took them a while to mark me as complete, i e-mailed them and they said they have a lot to do n they also marked me complete the day i e-mailed them coincidentally, so i think you will get mark complete soon
 
How does UCSF let you know that they recieved your LORs? I submitted mine last week to VE but I have no idea whether they've actually been posted to VE or anything..

I guess my question is do you need to be complete on that status page within the four week deadline? My deadline is this august 22nd and I have no idea how quickly my LORs will reach VE.

Me: I sent my secondary and my letters a month ago. The status page says you got my secondary but not my letters. Perhaps they were lost in the mail? Should I resend them?

UCSF:
Thank you for your email and I apologize for the delayed response. Our status website is limited in that it does not update to show when we have received letters of recommendation for an applicant. When your secondary application and letters have been processed, it will update to "File Complete" on the status page. As you were concerned, I checked and found that we have received your letters but have not processed them at this time.

I just received a secondary earlier this week! Was giving up hope because I got the "AMCAS received" email four weeks ago, and it seems like everyone here is getting the two emails within a day of each other.

By the way, I'm IS.

So even if you only got the first email so far, don't give up hope!
 
Bah, I can believe I still haven't received word from UCSF! Limbo is the worst place to be.

I agree!!! I haven't even gotten a "secondary received" email from my alma mater UC. 😡 I wonder if that means they REALLY didn't like my app...

I got an email from UCSF saying they received my AMCAS 7/23, but I haven't heard anything since. Is anyone else in the same boat? I'm starting to get worried because everyone else seemed to get the secondary immediately...

I got a secondary four weeks after the "AMCAS received" email. I guess it's a second-look thing, while many others get semi-auto-invite based on numbers after just a precursory glance to make sure that the ECs are in order?
 
I just want to make sure: if I have a Committee Letter from my school is this enough to fulfill UCSF's LOR requirements (ie 3 letters minimum and 2 from instructors)? I actually have a Committee Letter with 3 letters attached, 1 from volunteer work, 1 from an instructor and one from my PI. But want to make certain this is ok since there is only 1 full letter from an instructor (tho the CL summarizes evaluations that my instructors submitted on my behalf). Is anyone in a similar situation?

Also, how would you list this on the secondary? Just put the name of the CL author, right? And don't list the authors of the letters that are attached?

I'm not quite sure on this, but based on the posts, I think it has something to do with whether or not you are IS or OOS. I think the ISers are getting semi-auto invites, while they are giving OOSers a little bit more scrutiny. Just a guess though, I could be wrong.

And... I wouldn't worry about it. Some people on SDN in years past didn't get secondary invites until October, but they ended up getting an acceptance.

i guess! Maybe they just do batches of people who have their secondaries in, and only got through half the batch. I hope i'm complete tomorrow!

It's not a bad thing actually, I'm already getting kind of antsy about the schools I'm complete at, so I'd rather they didn't even download the LOR's until they're really ready to read them, so I can get an answer soon afterwards.

I am actually a resident of the bay area and was thinking of dropping off my secondary in person as well. Did they tell you anything in terms of mailing vs. personally dropping off your app? Let me know how it all works out! Thanks!

Haha when I got there, they were super-flustered (they've got some serious rebuilding of the med school going on so the admissions office was in a weird place and full of boxes and stuff), so they didn't pay too much attention to me, although they thought it was funny (pathetic?) that I had brought them the application in an envelope with postage on it (I had planned on mailing it out, then said "screw it", took the day off work and showed up).

Anyways, they said nothing one way or the other, but I'd put everything in an envelope when you drop it off for organization's sake. They do seem a little overwhelmed in there.

To those still waiting to receive a secondary app from UCSF, hang in there. I applied last year and was complete around mid-September. I received an interview invite at the end of January, interviewed in the first week of March, and was accepted in April.

It took a month for me to be complete - hang in there, they're probably just a little behind entering stuff into the computer.
 
at least you guys/gals got the app. we OOS still don't have em yet 🙁
