Congratulations, Cytosis! Did you already have an acceptance or is this your first med school acceptance?
This is my first and only acceptance. USF was the only school to even put me on a waitlist.
congratulations!!!!!
So, out of curiosity, USF did end up ranking their waitlist? What a shroud of mystery they seemed to have this year. But I'm glad everything worked out for you!
It is ranked but they are not revealing that rank. Does that make sense? Its like this if it isn't ranked you have the potential to go up in the waitlist like at UF. This was not the case here at USF. However, they did not want to give people false hope so they did not reveal what the positioning or ranking was for individual waitlistees this year. but to my understanding it is still ranked.
True... But if they did not reveal the rank how did cytosis know he/she was in the top 20 of the waitlist?
Why can't you just share the details on this thread? What's with the PM requests?
I am willing to share the information, but do not know if the admissions office would be pleased with my doing so in a public forum. I hope you understand.

I just got in off the waiting list. What a blessing!
Don't give up!!!
I had no idea I would be accepted. Because I was certain I needed to reapply this summer, I: retook the MCAT, took a CNA course, volunteered at a homeless clinic, shadowed physicians, wrote a new personal statement, became a substitute teacher, got all new LORs, and reworked my AMCAS in the hopes of being accepted next cycle. I was actually planning on submitting my new AMCAS tomorrow. Now I won't have to wait another year and be tortured by the application process.
Good luck to everyone else on the waiting list. I will be praying for you all and hope to see you when school starts.
damn that's a lot of stuff to have done this summer.
At least you won't have spent hundreds of dollars on amcas.
It's been a crazy/exciting summer. I wanted to cram as much in to increase my chances next cycle. Funny thing is that USF had no idea that I did all theis stuff.
Instead I'm looking at ~ $200,000 in debt for medical school![]()

are you an out of stater? I thought debt at Fl. schools was more like 160,000 in all roughly.
also it could be worse, 200,000 next year plus the thousands extra wasted on interviewing and applying again.
Also it wouldn't have mattered for this cycle anyways if you had done all this stuff cuz it would not be factored in as waitlist is fixed once it is finalized, meaning that once the waitlist is full where you are is your spot and that's that. LOIs and updates post interview at USF are pretty much useless. but you were waitlisted high enough to get off still. that's still pretty good esp. since this year it is like 1-2 people per week. Last I heard they were 20 down and expected only another 10 or so to get off of it. They told my friend who was 20 spots down on the w/l that there was little chance of getting off. But that person had gotten 2 other acceptances out of this cycle of which one was at a school that is a better fit for them in the long run despite being more costly and not in the home state. I think it was fates way of telling them something. Same goes to my other friend who got in elsewhere that wanted to be at USF. I think the other school will make them happier in the end and it will be a blessing in disguise for them.
It's funny because I jumped through all of these hoops knowing that none of them matter for my wait list spot. I was thinking about how much stronger of an applicant I would be next year. Looks like my old app and interview was good enough! Glad to hear your friends had success. I got some buddies that will end up reapplying so pray for them.
You didn't answer how you came up with 200,000 vs. 160,000? Or is that cuz of the planned trips??
I was just joking. I just guessed at the cost when i wrote that.
I just looked the financial aid site and it estimate the cost at $196,000 for instate applicant living with a roommate.
Another site had a letter from the dean's letter sating the the average debt was only $128,000.
My guess would be somewhere between those two figures.
I think what you are doing is appropriate. It is not appropriate to put some things in a public forum. PM is a better mode of communication. do keep in mind adcoms can figure out who people are so that's one reason to not make things so public.
yes, adcoms do look at this forum
has anyone heard anything more about waitlist movement?
Is there really still hope??? Can the waitlist move this late in the game???? I hope so...
so did your friend get in? I would think being ranked 20 would be considered top of the waitlist???
