Hooray, just got my interview invite this morning! For March 11th. Anyone else interviewing then?

I interviewed last Wednesday. Let's just say it is the least stressful interview that I have had during this process. All of the advice given above are really good. Just be yourself--one of the first things that they will tell you is that they are not out to get you--they just want to know more about you--and it is really true. I was not grilled at all. No ethical questions --nothing. Just a nice conversation.

Does anyone know how soon you hear after the interview? I heard that they make decisions right after. Is this true? Oh, by the way I'm OOS.

I don't know how they do it for OOS, but my letter came about five days after my interview. Hopefully you'll hear something soon! :xf:

Hey congrats on the good interview, and thanks for the feedback and advice. I love when interviewers forget the ego trip and realize they're really just there to get to know you better. I'm really looking forward to March. Only a month and a half away. Best of luck SL, I hope you get some good news soon.

Just wondering if anyone on the waitlist has been admitted since being placed on the waitlist. :scared:

I know my letter states that the ADCOM will continue to evaluate your application at each meeting....

I have no idea if anyone has, but maybe you could give them a call and ask for an update? Good luck!

I got interview a while back and am "on hold", when are they stopping interviews and formulating the entire wait list?

Whats the best way to handle this 10-15min "cookie time" with the adcom?

1) How many ADCOM members are there?

2) Is it best to talk to every ADCOM member or have a quality conversation with a few of them - essentially is quantity or quality better?

3) What do you talk about with them? Do they just stand there and expect you to come up to them?

4) What shouldn't you do?

Any news, SLMatama?

4) What shouldn't you do?

Let's see:

1. When I was there, there was about 20 interviewees and maybe 15-18 ADCOM members.

2. I think I only had a chance to speak with 6 or 7 of them. It was mostly a quick three minute conversation.

3. I tried to ask them questions and find something in common. I really liked hearing why each of them chose USC and why they love it so much. You would chat for a few minutes and then another committee member would walk up and introduce themselves. It really wasn't too stressful, I promise!

4. As for what not to do, I would just recommend not interrupting anyone's conversation. At the same time, there were more of us than them, so don't just stand there waiting for someone to talk to you, look for a convo that's ending and go introduce yourself. Some of my fellow interviewees introduced me. Everyone is really nice, so don't worry too much!

Best of luck!

How improtant is "cookie time" in the interview process? I totally missed it, because my interviews ran over the alotted time. My 2nd interviewer and I got to the lobby with about 2 minutes left. I hope it doesnt hurt my chances.

Also, how long does it take to hear back after you interview?

don't worry you will be fine. just relax and focus on the positives of your interview when you feel the need to recollect your interview day memories.

It takes 2 weeks but it took less than that for me. You might get accepted on that day from what I here.

Also, I reckon it would help if you let them know that you are interested in case you haven't heard in 2-3 weeks time. (letter, phone, etc.)

I still have not heard anything back from USC-SOM and my secondary was sent in and verified early November. I'm IS and did my undergraduate work in Charleston. Anyone in the same boat?

Same here i had my interview in november or maybe even earlier and still have not heard anything. I did my undergrad at Furman in Greenville

Furman... sorry to say you won't probably hear anything now until late late april probably first week of may. By this point they wait until they have interviewed all of their potential applicants and then make their final calls.

The wait list/alternate list also comes out about this time as far as I know.

So does anyone have any ideas of the SC Admissions timeline? Anyone accepted from the waitlist yet?:xf:

is there something that I need to do to know how much money i'll be getting from federal aid?

has anyone heard from the financial aid office for those who have been accepted and filled out their fafsa?

Two weeks later... no news. I'll admit it didn't go very well so I'm not exactly jumping up and down for the letter, but they were pretty clear with us that they were meeting right then to decide, and we'd find out pronto.

Three weeks later... no news for me. I'm guessing it will be at the end of the month so that they can finalize the waitlist and everything.

Three weeks and no news too. I think you're right, they must be working on the waitlist right now.

I just called the admissions office and was told they haven't made any decisions on anyone yet. They are working on the waitlist and are making some offers. She said to expect to hear back sometime in mid-April. I thought we'd hear back in 2-3 weeks.

Reading in between the lines, Does that mean waitlist? 🙁

Based on your conversation with Admission's staff today, was it your impression that we would all know something (yes, waitlist, no) by mid-April?😕

Yeah, she said that we should all hear something back from them by mid-April. I hate waiting

Any one hear anything since last week? I heard they will interview thru April 15, can anyone confirm? Hating the waiting game...😕

Advice: If you are still waiting, Start working on your plan for next year and what you're going to do to improve your application. Reapply early and find something to do this summer and over the next year to make you more competitive. Basically, it's over for you this time around 🙁 sorry

Well, I agree on one part but disagree with another. First, it's NOT over yet. I've been told specifically by a member of the ADCOM they HAVE NOT yet filled the class and will do so after the April 15 interviews. I do agree that if you have not heard anything by the end of April that you need to begin to look towards improving your application/MCAT/GPA, etc for the next year.
So...if you have not specifically heard the "NO", keep your hopes up!

Just got a rejection letter today, so I guess you guys may know something soon.

I got the placed on the alternate list letter in the mail today (In state)....fingers crossed! Does anyone have a clue how many people make the alternate list?

Alternate list for me as well. I was told that the alternate list was ranked (top third, middle third, bottom third) but my letter didn't include any info on my ranking. Did anyone have a ranking yet?

I also was placed on the alternate list - checked the mail today. Maybe we have to call to find out more specifically where we are on the list?

I called today. I am in the middle third but they wouldn't tell me how many are on the list.

Alternate as well. I don't think I want to know which third of the waitlist I'm in!:scared:

I called today and they told me i was in the middle, but not how many people are on the list. They said they weren't allowed to give out any more information than which third of the list in which you are currently listed. :0

Haha, middle here too. Maybe they just tell everyone middle third because it doesn't cause too much dejection or expectation; everyone's just eager and hopeful.

those of you who just recently received a decision, when did you interview? thanks

Im also waitlisted, but am about to withdraw my app because I was accepted at MUSC.

Wow, this thread is really quiet.

Does anyone know anything about how many people were accepted from the middle third of the waitlist last year? Any current students care to shed light on this?

Thanks🙂

Hey guys,
I'm applying next year. I searched all of the website for this but couldn't find it: What are their letter of recommendation requirements?

Has anybody not gotten a pre-interview rejection from this school, either?

I haven't heard anything from them since I sent in the secondary, but they cashed my fee...I'd think the fee covered some respectful acknolwedgment/communication at some point in the application cycle.

I long ago gave up on the school interviewing/accepting me, but it's irksome to feel like you were charged money for an application that possibly went unreviewed or even got lost.

no news so far, i thought this thread was for secondary apps and news regarding currently waitlisted apps not about people applying for next years cycle...

Yeah, because this thread is so busy and all. Sorry to interrupt the many posts that were being made on "relevant" topics.

By the way, the title says this thread is for discussing the secondary. Letters of recommendation are part of your secondary. This is one of the few threads that doesn't state their requirements in the initial post.
