2008 US News Medical School Rankings

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can someone please post the complete list with all of the details for all of us cheap students?

Thanks!
I believe it is a copyright violation, so it would probably not last even if posted.

its been done before and mods haven't removed it.

Did anyone else notice that the rankings beyond, say 60, are no longer posted? When I initially looked, I vividly recall schools (my school) in the 60s in both the research and primary care rankings. A few days later, they were no longer ranked. If anyone knows where to access a complete list, please let me know. US News doesn't have it (magazine or website). Thanks.

If your school's library subscribes to US News & World Report as an electric resource, you can access the entire chart via Academic Search Premier, LexisNexis Academic, etc. Search for keyword "Schools of Medicine" on the date 4/9/2007.

Please do note the terms and conditions of using academic search engines (http://www.lexisnexis.com/terms/general/).

Clearly the special sauce, and animal-style fries were the product of multiple clinical trials, which makes them so damn delicious.

and yes, i know harvard is listed twice. that one is not a type-o. if you read the methodology fine print, it states that their very high nih funding gave them two spots in the rankings this year. so it's still worth applying to.

 That would suggest that Harvard has, in effect, "lapped" schools below 60th rank (including the poster's 🙁).

Anyone know why Yale went from being consistently ranked #3 to falling out of the top 10?

Can anyone with access to the full 2008 US News and World Report tell me what Tulane and UT Memphis (UT Health Science Center) are ranked? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Research Rankings:

Tulane: 56
UT Health Science Center - Memphis: unranked (>60)

I can't help noticing U of Washingtong's incoming students academic numbers stand out among top ranked schools. In fact, the numbers match better with schools that rank toward the end of the ranked list. UW must offer fantastic education, it is admirable to consistantly rank that high even without students coming in with 35 MCAT like other top ranked schools. Anyone knows how they do it?

They have nearly 1000 in-state applicants applying in a state that has only one school and also has to serve applicants from states without medical schools.

To whomever is looking for rankings on 63-125, they stop ranking at the top half and roughly throw everyone else in the bottom half.

As much as us old folks (read: current med students) shout about the meaningless nature of the rankings, you will find even less meaning in trying to use USN criteria to discriminate schools in the "bottom half." Ultimately after about number 20 or so, it really just comes down to where you live and want to go to school without paying more than necessary.

What happened to Yale over the last few years? #3 to #11?😕

Also curious why Yale dropped from 11 to 3. Anyone have a legitimate answer to this question?

Anyone have a legitimate answer to this question?

us news is a for-profit infotainment rag. they can't sell their rankings issues every year if the darned things don't change much. there's the answer.
