Do you guys know how long it usually takes for the next status change to appear, after the file has already been submitted to adcom and under review?

CONGRATS! Great News!
Question: Did you receive a background check email from Certiphi? I am wondering b/c I had the same final decision date but no background email and am scared I was rejected!!! Really want to go to DrexeL!!

I think the background check comes after you get accepted to a school, not before. I recieved an email a few weeks after being accepted to my first school.

Its just that some people on this forum received the email BEFORE the acceptance letter so it has me a bit anxious...

So I received the initial background check email from AMCAS the day after I received my acceptance letter and it said I would be receiving an email from Certiphi soon. How long after the initial AMCAS background email until people are receiving the actual background check email from Certiphi?

So how long does it generally take to get 'A final has been made' once you've already been submitted to committee and are under review?

I interviewed in Drexel 01/19. Just got an email interview invite from them:shrug::uhno:

I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!! and I will send my deposit asap!
And for everyone still waiting, I did not get a Certiphi email prior so don't let that freak you out as it did me!!!
Thank you JESUS!!!!

No problem
Interviewed: Nov in the 20's
Committee Review: Mid December
Final Decision Made Notice on Website: Jan 21st or 22nd
Letter received today!!!!!

Congrats!!..Did you get the letter the day after it was mailed? Nice

I live in Philly, actually a mile from the medical school campus, but it still felt like forever from the time I had the status change!😳

And no email for the background check, weird 😕

So is this strange? I interviewed early December and my web status still says: "Your interview has been scheduled. If you've appeared for the interview, please allow 6-8 weeks for a final decision." Well, it's now been 8 weeks, and still no status change even. ?? I am REALLY hoping for good news from Drexel... it's so hard to wait!!!

Not necessarily strange. I am coming up on 14 weeks post-int with the same message still and I think there may be others on here who have been waiting even longer.

Got the "decision has been reached" status today.

Interviewed Nov 13

Just got the Certiphi background email and completed it and sent it in!! One step closer!!

Can anyone chime in on waitlist movement/how the waitlist process works at drexel?

I am sure this has come up before but I reallly dont feel like going through this gigantic thread but does a pre interview hold=rejection at drexel?

So once you've got the 'final decision has been made' status, have ppl called in to see when they actually mail in the letter? I've read previously on here that may not send it immediately despite changing the status, is that so?

EDIT: Just got the 'decision has been made and will be sent out shortly' update 2/1. Interviewed on 11/11.

They just mailed out decision letters yesterday! All the Cali folks, how long did it take you to get it?

status updated to "final decision reached" today. interviewed 12/3

I am just curious whether someone has been granted an interview at Drexel for this regular medical school admission cycle only to receive a letter accepting them for one of their post-bacc programs such as DPMS, IMS or MSP.

I have known someone who applied to NYCOM and received an interview invite, and only to find out later that he has been granted admission NOT into NYCOM med program but into the MED PREP. Granted, this 6-weeks MED PREP program is way better and safer than any of the above offered by Drexel insomuch that unless you are dumb, you wouldn't matriculate into med school for the cycle of which you have originally applied (24 out of 25 MED PREP students who were accepted last year are now matriculated). However, most of the ones offered by Drexel is not guaranteed and you would have to rewrite the MCAT, and spend 1 year taking classes.

I am venting here: this is suck! They should have told you upfront that what program they are interviewing you for. If you think you can muster it, you applied. Otherwise, you don't! Don't give false hopes.

Hey, I don't know where you got your source from. I interviewed at NYCOM and never received a decision from them. I received this MED PREP/HCOP email from them. In order to qualify for the program, you have to be admitted to NYCOM and meet the HCOP criteria. In fact, they gave me a call, since I didn't submit my tax info. They never told me my decision when I asked again, but I assumed that my acceptance to NYCOM is contingent on whether if I submitted my tax info or not. Bottom line, you have to be admitted to NYCOM in order to get into the program.

Do some research bro to inform yourself! Matriculating into the NYCOM medical school from their PREP MED program is contingent upon you maintaining, I think, a B average in your 6-week program. If you don’t, you won’t be admitted into NYCOM class of 2014. According to my friend, they don’t send you a congratulatory acceptance letter into their Med school for a reason. They only send you a letter inviting you to their MED PREP program. I don’t want to discuss further and deviate from the topic at hand since this is, after all, a Drexel thread, not a NYCOM one. If you have further question/discussion, address your question to the appropriate thread.

Now, let’s go back to my original question: Does anyone have an answer?

I don't need to do any research. This is the email they sent me a while back. Verbatim from the email:

Students who are admitted to NYCOM and meet the HCOP criteria will be provided with a variety of services geared to promoting success. Some services include:

· Med Prep I – Summer pre-matriculated conditional acceptance program with a stipend.
· Weekly two hour de-briefing review sessions for matriculated students coordinated by a learning specialist.
· On site COMLEX board preparation courses funded for Med Prep II students enrolled in their second year.
· Financial aid information sessions.

There must be a difference between accepted into NYCOM and join their HCOP program vs. MED-PREP. Yes, from that the email above, it seems that if you are accepted into NYCOM and depending on your financial circumstances, you can be admitted into the HCOP. As a HCOP scholar, you have the option to attend MED-PREP programs. However, if you are selected to attend MED-PREP, you are in no way accepted into NYCOM unless you attend their 6-week program and maintain a B-average.

I think we are having a quid pro quod!

I feel we are hijacking this thread, but please go to NYCOM thread. I can almost swear that we are talking about the same thing. The Email is ambiguous and no one can make out the actual meaning of it.

gah. good luck! makes me antsier since I interviewed before you and still no word!

I think that happens a lot. I interviewed 11/11 and ppl who interviewed after me were getting their letters before I did. Don't sweat it.
