I think the background check comes after you get accepted to a school, not before. I recieved an email a few weeks after being accepted to my first school.
false:
accepted in october, background check in october.
Accepted in October, CBC/Certiphi email in January.
Took about 5-6 weeks for meSo how long does it generally take to get 'A final has been made' once you've already been submitted to committee and are under review?
I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!! and I will send my deposit asap!
And for everyone still waiting, I did not get a Certiphi email prior so don't let that freak you out as it did me!!!
Thank you JESUS!!!!
I interviewed in Drexel 01/19. Just got an email interview invite from them![]()

CONGRATS!! (I like when people are excited! way to go!)
Maybe they accidentally sent you mine?
That's really funny!
Congrats! do you mind me asking when you interviewed and about how long it took for a final decision to be made once your file was under review by committee. Thanks and congrats again!!
Congrats!!..Did you get the letter the day after it was mailed? Nice
So is this strange? I interviewed early December and my web status still says: "Your interview has been scheduled. If you've appeared for the interview, please allow 6-8 weeks for a final decision." Well, it's now been 8 weeks, and still no status change even. ?? I am REALLY hoping for good news from Drexel... it's so hard to wait!!!
Got the "decision has been reached" status today.
Interviewed Nov 13
me too, I interviewed on 11/23
did you get a background check email?
I am sure this has come up before but I reallly dont feel like going through this gigantic thread but does a pre interview hold=rejection at drexel?
Can anyone chime in on waitlist movement/how the waitlist process works at drexel?
The wait list is ranked
They just mailed out decision letters yesterday! All the Cali folks, how long did it take you to get it?
status updated to "final decision reached" today. interviewed 12/3
I am just curious whether someone has been granted an interview at Drexel for this regular medical school admission cycle only to receive a letter accepting them for one of their post-bacc programs such as DPMS, IMS or MSP.
I have known someone who applied to NYCOM and received an interview invite, and only to find out later that he has been granted admission NOT into NYCOM med program but into the MED PREP. Granted, this 6-weeks MED PREP program is way better and safer than any of the above offered by Drexel insomuch that unless you are dumb, you wouldn't matriculate into med school for the cycle of which you have originally applied (24 out of 25 MED PREP students who were accepted last year are now matriculated). However, most of the ones offered by Drexel is not guaranteed and you would have to rewrite the MCAT, and spend 1 year taking classes.
I am venting here: this is suck! They should have told you upfront that what program they are interviewing you for. If you think you can muster it, you applied. Otherwise, you don't! Don't give false hopes.

Do some research bro to inform yourself! Matriculating into the NYCOM medical school from their PREP MED program is contingent upon you maintaining, I think, a B average in your 6-week program. If you dont, you wont be admitted into NYCOM class of 2014. According to my friend, they dont send you a congratulatory acceptance letter into their Med school for a reason. They only send you a letter inviting you to their MED PREP program. I dont want to discuss further and deviate from the topic at hand since this is, after all, a Drexel thread, not a NYCOM one. If you have further question/discussion, address your question to the appropriate thread.
Now, lets go back to my original question: Does anyone have an answer?
They just mailed out decision letters yesterday! All the Cali folks, how long did it take you to get it?
I don't need to do any research. This is the email they sent me a while back. Verbatim from the email:
Students who are admitted to NYCOM and meet the HCOP criteria will be provided with a variety of services geared to promoting success. Some services include:
· Med Prep I – Summer pre-matriculated conditional acceptance program with a stipend.
· Weekly two hour de-briefing review sessions for matriculated students coordinated by a learning specialist.
· On site COMLEX board preparation courses funded for Med Prep II students enrolled in their second year.
· Financial aid information sessions.
There must be a difference between accepted into NYCOM and join their HCOP program vs. MED-PREP. Yes, from that the email above, it seems that if you are accepted into NYCOM and depending on your financial circumstances, you can be admitted into the HCOP. As a HCOP scholar, you have the option to attend MED-PREP programs. However, if you are selected to attend MED-PREP, you are in no way accepted into NYCOM unless you attend their 6-week program and maintain a B-average.
I think we are having a quid pro quod!
gah. good luck! makes me antsier since I interviewed before you and still no word!
