I interviewed 11/24 and stil haven't heard. It been over 8 weeks. Im starting to freak out, especially with you december guys getting acceptances already. is there anybody else with a november interview waiting for a reply?

what do you think the problem is? i called them and they told me that my interviewer might have not handed in his score sheet...and that they also do people out of order. that just doesn't make any sense since the school is rolling admissions. it just isn't fare lol.

I got an email about the Turner fellowship today. I think that I will apply, it's definitely worth a shot.

I'm sure there are still plenty of slots open. They interview into April and it's only January.

me too. I got the email last Friday as well. Full tuition + 10K yearly stipend sounds very good to me

i interviewed 1/5, which I think was the first day they did after the break. So if they got to 12/20 people.... they will probably be at mine soonish. Gyah!

Waitlist = email
Rejection = letter by snail mail (so 3-5 business days)

I've also been waitlisted. for good movement on this thing. Anyone know if they'll answer questions about ranking on the waitlist?

i think i remember them saying that they won't disclose such info but I might call and try to see

I wouldn't worry too much about it if you don't get anything. There's still a chance they haven't been able to review your app even if everyone else is hearing back.

We are ranked into bottom 1/3, middle 1/3, and top 1/3. But it's 'confidential' and they can't tell us.

well do they do it like buffalo and ONLY accept as many people as there are spots (~150) during the interview season, and then start bringing people off in May?

or is the waitlist more of a longshot?


I'll give them a call and see if maybe we can find out what third we are on in say March. Or you know what, I'll just ask if I can know now, it can't hurt, so long as I'm polite 😉.

Also, Buffalo said that basically last year they accepted like over 2/3 of the waitlist. they actually got into the lower third. i doubt anyone has info on how 'deep' stonybrook got, but if they do, it would be great to know.

I guess SB accepts like 300 students which probably means about half them come from the waitlist. I'm hopeful.

well, let's start looking towards the future. does anybody have an idea when they start accepting people off the waitlist? probably not until may, huh?

to those who were given acceptances--CONGRATS! and could you let us know when the latest date you can withdraw your placement deposits for a full refund? thanks!

interviewed 12/11, one great interview, one okay interview, waitlisted via email 1/26. inquired about waitlist and was told that position on the waitlist is confidential and that they don't expect movement until after may 15th. meh. probably will end up withdrawing from waitlist since i have another acceptance and can't wait until may 15th to find out about stony brook. too bad, i liked the school.

~3.7 GPA, 31 average on MCAT (took it 2x)
