Hey you! Congratulations on being accepted. I think we interviewed together. YOu are the kid whose mom is a psychiatrist right? I havent decided if this is where i will end up

I interviewed 11/24 and stil haven't heard. It been over 8 weeks. Im starting to freak out, especially with you december guys getting acceptances already. is there anybody else with a november interview waiting for a reply?

Yup. 11/12 here.
 
what do you think the problem is? i called them and they told me that my interviewer might have not handed in his score sheet...and that they also do people out of order. that just doesn't make any sense since the school is rolling admissions. it just isn't fare lol.
 
Has anyone who's been accepted received information about a possible "tuition waiver" or been nominated for a fellowship?

I got an email about the Turner fellowship today. I think that I will apply, it's definitely worth a shot.

I'm sure there are still plenty of slots open. They interview into April and it's only January.

I'm IS, was complete around then, and got my rejection letter today. I didn't want you either, Stony Brook.

also a 12/22 interviewee here! every day i come home from work with rapid heart palpitations as i near my mailbox....one day i'm just going to keel over from all this anticipation/anxiety!

me too. I got the email last Friday as well. Full tuition + 10K yearly stipend sounds very good to me

haha.... don't kill yourself!

i interviewed 1/5, which I think was the first day they did after the break. So if they got to 12/20 people.... they will probably be at mine soonish. Gyah!

I haven't seen anyone in this topic from 12/20 yet. The latest has been 12/11 so you have a little time to breathe.

i've got my interview at northwestern coming up but after being WL'd from two SUNYs, i can't help but wonder if i even have a shot at an acceptance there...

just got waitlisted. anyone know anything about the waitlist here?

Does it move? is it gigantic? Small?


or does everyone who is not accepted..... simply get put on the waitlist?

I interviewed on the 22nd also! I haven't heard anything yet though, I wonder if thats good or bad...has anyone gotten acceptances yet who interviewed around then? Do they send rejections through e-mail or snail mail?

Acceptance = acceptance packet in the mail overnight
Waitlist = email
Rejection = letter by snail mail (so 3-5 business days)

I've also been waitlisted. :xf: for good movement on this thing. Anyone know if they'll answer questions about ranking on the waitlist?

i think i remember them saying that they won't disclose such info but I might call and try to see

also does any1 know if they do post interview rejections

I wouldn't worry too much about it if you don't get anything. There's still a chance they haven't been able to review your app even if everyone else is hearing back.

well do they do it like buffalo and ONLY accept as many people as there are spots (~150) during the interview season, and then start bringing people off in May?

or is the waitlist more of a longshot?


I'll give them a call and see if maybe we can find out what third we are on in say March. Or you know what, I'll just ask if I can know now, it can't hurt, so long as I'm polite 😉.

Also, Buffalo said that basically last year they accepted like over 2/3 of the waitlist. they actually got into the lower third. i doubt anyone has info on how 'deep' stonybrook got, but if they do, it would be great to know.
 
I guess SB accepts like 300 students which probably means about half them come from the waitlist. I'm hopeful.

Yeah -- I've posted all I know (in terms of we are ranked but they won't tell us) so any new info here would be appreciated... thanks for the stat softmed and imnastywitit, if you call, let us know if they tell you anything.

In other news, I think I'm going to set the waitlist record. This is my fourth one (or the equivalent of one). Schools sure think I'm mediocre.
 
i just spoke with someone and i got the same 'we don't know of the WL rank so we're unable to relay that info to you'.

well, let's start looking towards the future. does anybody have an idea when they start accepting people off the waitlist? probably not until may, huh?

to those who were given acceptances--CONGRATS! and could you let us know when the latest date you can withdraw your placement deposits for a full refund? thanks!
 
Anyone know if it can help to send a letter of interest or letter of intent to admissions while you're waitlisted? I know at a lot of schools it can.
 
Woww I finally got a waitlist email. It took them long enough. I interviewed 11/10
 
I interviewed 12/22 also and received an acceptance package in mid-January. But I wouldn't worry that you haven't heard yet- this process is so unpredictable...

This place is nice and cheap. My only real cheap acceptance. I'm strongly thinking of taking it now.
 
interviewed 12/11, one great interview, one okay interview, waitlisted via email 1/26. inquired about waitlist and was told that position on the waitlist is confidential and that they don't expect movement until after may 15th. meh. probably will end up withdrawing from waitlist since i have another acceptance and can't wait until may 15th to find out about stony brook. too bad, i liked the school.

~3.7 GPA, 31 average on MCAT (took it 2x)

I'm almost exactly the same in every respect. One great interview, one okay, same stats, and I was waitlisted. Here's to us! I don't have the luxury of an acceptance yet 🙁

what did you guys think of the school during your interview day. I'm supposed to be interviewing later on february and I would love to hear some more stuff about what type of environment stony brook has...
 
Accepted! Interviewed 12/22.

They sent the envelope to my house so I just found out about it today, but I think it got there on Thurs.
