I've heard that the dean of admissions will personally call your phone to inform you of an acceptance (not sure if there is any truth to that...havent recieved a call) but it would be nice.

Is that happening today, tomorrow, next week?

I really want to hear back...

when i met the dean last year, he said that if a student is accepted, he or she first hears from him personally through a phone call, then receives some snail mail a few weeks later...got my eyes glued to the iphone lol interviewed first week of september

So seriously, no one has heard back yet? This means I'm probably going to be waiting a while since I interviewed later than most others here.

I like your optimism. I've been completely drained of it. Going through this process is so tedious. It's 10 months long, these schools are so damn slow, they make you wait like four months just to reject you when you were finally beginning to forget that you'd applied there.
 
they told me today when i was interviewing in august... so i guess after 5 which would be the business hours...
 
For everyone waiting for the call tonight, there is a good chance it won't happen. I hope for your sake it does but just because they threw out that date at the interview doesn't mean you will hear for sure. I interviewed last year, was waitlisted and ultimately not accepted. All the dates they told me to expect news were never right on. And if they do call, it will be after hours, I heard a few people got their call around 10 or 11p last year.

I hope I'm wrong but don't be surprised if that*RESTRICTED* call doesn't come for a week or 2. The adcom meets once a week and reviews interviewed students' file and makes a decision. Your app might not come up this week. Sorry if I'm being a downer.
 
well I JUST GOT THE CALL! i interviewed way back in mid august.

I'M GOING TO MEDICAL SCHOOL!

And so it begins... I really hope they call the people who interviewed on Sept. 24th :scared:

Also got "the call" tonight...I interviewed late August...Dean Heinrich sounds like an incredibly nice guy...
 
agreed, he was soo nice with that phone call... but he could of said anything as long as acceptance was in there and i would of soo happy. Good luck to everyone else
 
yeah he was awesome. he mentioned specific things from my application and asked me how i was doing with my school work.

of course, i mostly just remember uttering "thank you" and "oh my god" to him repeatedly...
 
hey mike, I think I interviewed w/ u guys the 20th. I was the guy that had to leave during the tour b/c my interview ran during the tour. I got the phone call as well. Are u planning on attending? Where does NJMS rank for you guys???? I interviewed at Mount Sinai as well but I was not impressed with the hospital/facilities.
 
Hey luis... yah i remember! I don't know if you remember which one i was but the best hint i can give you is my name is Mike and i wore a paisley white shirt haha. NJMS is one my top choices due to the clinical exp and the cost. I mean i might get into temple and drexel as well but they are expensive. I will probably end up at this school and i am pretty excited about it. PM me if you wanna talk about it

ps. Dr. Heinrich is such a nice guy over the phone, he prolly has the apps in front of him, and asks u how your job at XXX or research in XXX is going. real nice personal touch...
 
I hope they still have some acceptances left to hand out for those who will interview later! It seems like they're giving them away all now.

Congrats on your acceptance, by the way. If you don't mind me asking, what were your ECs like? I'm just trying to get a feel for the kind of stuff they like. Also, how did your interview go?
 
Pretty normal stuff:
Clinical exp is over 200 hours with primary care doctor and over 100 hours with rehab patients
Volunteer is a lot with phsyical therapy and after school mentor program for needy population
Other stuff like piano, personal trainer, various athletics, etc...

Interview went good, didn't feel it went great but Dr. H said teh interviewer spoke very highly of me and my letter of reqs were top notch..

got the call yesterday (friday) around 5pm; Interviewed 9/10; Definitely going to go here next year.
 
So I'm OOS and interviewed oct 7... does anyone know if it will take longer for me to find out what they decide since I am not in state?
 
IS, interviewed on 10/1. Just got the call (yes, it's 7 pm on a saturday - 10/17) - i've been ACCEPTED!

WHOOO!

2 week turn around - NICE! Wish all my other medical school interviews go that way. The wait totally sucks.

Congrats!!!

Yikes, I guess that means they should have my decision coming out this upcoming week. Will be sure to keep my phone close and charged. :xf:

Well, if they've just gotten back to ppl interviewing on 10/01, then I'd assume those of us who interviewed the following week should be hearing back sometime this week...
 
same weight as the faculty. i hung out with a couple of students afterwards (one of them that interviews and gives tours and stuff). but thats just what i heard though
