2009 western university..anyone yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
found out that i am placed on hold today.. can someone explain this to me? isnt the last interview date on March 14 why am i placed on hold? should this just be considered a rejection?

From my understanding, if you're placed on hold then you're basically just waiting for an interview spot to open up for March. If none opens up, then it's a rejection because someone mentioned that Western wasn't holding any more interviews after March. This is my interpretation, but I could be wrong.

Very late. about 4-5pm. Maybe s.o. just gave his/her spot to me. lol

so this person received a hold letter without an interview...hmmm. what happens in this situation? anybody know?

On PharmCAS, it says the hold interviews until April? HAHAHA. You suffer more. Your hope still lives. So does mine. This is what I get for not studying my ass off starting in high school. Damn, if only I knew how this process worked in high school.

Maybe PharmCAS is wrong and maybe trix and I are screwed. I messaged CNCP about something and what they posted on PharmCAS was not true. Eh, oh well. Only time will tell.

From what i know this sat is the last interview. Another interview, march 17th, will be held for those that are unable to make it to the march 14th interview. This is it.. you either get an interview or wait for the rejection letter in the mail.

I just got an invite to an interview today. I was actually REALLY surprise seeing how IF I was admitted, I would not have a bachelor's degree by the spring (my expected degree date would be June 2010).

Anyone else interviewing that WILL NOT have a bachelor'sdegree?

PM me and we can compare stats....🙂

I just them and they said that they haven't made a decision on my file yet, so I'm not on hold. They can call me for an interview for March 14 or I'll receive a letter in the mail by the end of March.

I'm so nervous about the upcoming interview...I really want to get into Western 😳

Did anyone get an invite today from Western? Sounds like there is two more days of hope/misery left huh?

The wait is killing me.🙁

GG cinnamoroll12 how many schools did you apply this year? I counted like 20+ or something...

Hi guys, I am new to SDN, although I have been reading the forums quite a bit without registering. I have a question and a request:

I got an interview for Western (March 14) and was wondering if once you get the interview, your admission is based on a combination of your interview/essay with your application or just your interview/essay alone. Basically, is the interview session the make or break point?

Finally, any males interested in rooming around campus if we are accepted? I live in the heart of LA, but the commute is very exhausting and time consuming 😛

Thanks in advance!

I believe they make a final review of your file based on your application prior to the interview + the interview result + essay as well. Essentially everyone who receives an interview invitation is quite strong in his/her application, so it all depends on how well you can articulate during the interview.
The interview + essay part is very important so if you mess up during this part its pretty much over. That is how I believe people think of it as the "make or break point". However, if everyone performs the same on the interview part, then the interview itself is not a "make or break point" anymore since the adcom has to rely on other factors to decide if you should get in or not.

To make it short, the interview is very important, it "can" be "make or break" point but it doesn't always decide the outcome.

I need to get accepted to somewhere this year because I'm not going to get any younger. This year, I applied to more CA schools compared to last year, so these schools took like 1/4 of my list already.

what are your stats cinnamoroll12?

i feel like im running out of time too... 🙁

I think I'm giving up too... they are still calling ppl for the last interview, but I'm not sure if I heard the lady wrong or not but I think she said they are calling 2-3 ppl/day so chances are super slim *sighs*. So... 4-6 ppl will be the lucky last ones! I just hope I'm one of them!

So, this means that the people who are placed on hold have no hope of being called? I know they are still calling and today the lady told me this morning that they're going to call people until Friday. I just hope that many people will decline their invites due to short notice and that they have gotten accepted to their top choice schools.

For current student or interviewed student, is it hard to find the campus and the building? I have 7.30 am interview and I'm from SJ. I'm so afraid that I'll get lost.

There are only a few buildings on the campus and the campus is a strip covering 2 blocks. You shouldn't get lost. It's on the side furthest from the library.

Do you know exactly where you will be staying? I assume it'll be a little bit tough for you to find hotels nearby campus, unless if you're going to rent a car from the airport.

Western barely sent me an email last week on 3/4 telling me that they didnt receive one of my LoR evaluations...and that I would have to get it to them by the deadline: 3/6

just be warned that it is not your typical campus. it actually looks like office buildings in an industrial area. just remember to look UP, and look for their seal on the buildings.

when in doubt, follow the other people that look "lost" haha thats what i did.

When I was heading there for an Open House session last year, I had a hard time finding the school until I realized that I was right in front of the campus. Yea, they looked like warehouses to me.

Thank you Cinnamoroll and krazy. I intend to fly to LA after coming back from Stockton, then stay in my friend home near UCLA. Then I'll drive to western in the morning. I will pay more attention to 'people look like lost'. lol.

You've got to be kidding me. I just got back from an interview in NY, and the campus I visited made Western look like UCLA. The campus does not look like an office buildings the way I see it.
