Aww, I was really hoping you'd get a call this last session. It's ok, at least you still have other schools. Good luck 👍

It's ok, I guess I should be happy for getting some interview invites although I really want to stay here in SoCal. I still have one more shot at CA school left and that is Touro.

It's after 5 PM, so I know my fate already.

dang. i did post my picture and i didnt get an interview.

once again my ugliness ruins my future haha

I didn't post mine because I didn't want to offend anyone on the admissions board....

Is anyone from Cal Poly Pomona going to be at the interview tomorrow?

Hey accepted Western students congradulations can I know what your GPA is or a range that you got accepted I know the interview played a part but what to know so i can have a standing chance or not please thank you bye.

wow, what a run-on sentence

I was soooo sleepy at the interview. I barely got any sleep the night before. Partly because I was nervous and partly because my roommates are crazy.....Anywho, it was refreshing to see current western students so excited about the university.

I would pass out right now, but I need to study for finals (I have TWO on monday)!

Good luck to everyone that applied this year!

i feel you i have two finals on monday too i am going to die? What school do you go to? the interviewers were so nice and so friendly... i hope i get in this is my number one choice!!

My interview went well I think. You can never tell though. I got a good feeling from the school, and everyone seemed really nice. The area wasn't as bad as I heard it was. Not great, but not horrible. 😛

DarlingNikki: who did you get the opportunity to interview with?

and congrats on being done with the interview!!

The school was awesome, everyone was very helpful and nice! My interview went good and the essay was excellent, although I could feel my interviewer was a bit more serious than anyone else I encountered there. I have my fingers crossed now, Western was the best!

I didn't really like the topic of the essay. I think I wrote a decent essay, but my experience was kind of boring, but I was told they're just trying to see if you write well.

RXFanatic, I rather not say who interviewed me. 🙂

Oh ya, they are judging mostly if you can communicate well in writing, although the essay portion is worth only 5% of your overall acceptance, whereas the interview constitutes a major chunk (1/5th). But don't underrate it, it could make or break you 🙂

Does anyone know EXACTLY how the points are distributed among the interview, essay, application essays, GPA, LOR, etc?

Sorry guys, i have to remove it. Didnt mean to step on anyone's toes by posting it.

Dont ask me where this came from... 😎

I would recommend taking that down. I know a couple of WesternU faculty members who do check out SDN. I'm not sure how often or whether they still do. Either way, it doesn't look good on you or the school.

Yea I took it down. Didnt mean to cause any harm.

Omg, I freaked out after reading this.

LOL...it became an ethical dilemma for me. Judging from your reaction, I'm glad I didn't open it.

So what I meant was, does anyone know EXACTLY how much is everything worth: interview, essay, application responses, etc.

For example,

Interview: 25%
essay: 5%
GPA: 45%
Bachelor's 5%
....

etc, etc, etc....

Or is this a 'hush-hush' admissions process?

Here is what I gleaned from the admission officers:

GPA: 30%
LOR: 10%
Essay: 5%
Interview: 25%
Personal Statement: 10%
EC's: 20%

If pass means accepted, they do a rolling acceptance, where they first call the people with higher averages and go down the list until the seats have been filled. The averages are different, but usually range around the upper 70 to mid 80 range.

As stated in above posts a while back, if anyone has any questions about the school or help with info about it to help you make a decision on where you want to go feel free to PM me. I am a P1 currently.

what happens to people who did not get an interview, nor rejection????
do we still have a chance, does anyone know?????????

please let me know

if you have not received an interview at this point, then it does not look like good news. They will send you a final decision in April

I understand your feeling, but you can CHANGE it.
Seriously look at your application and the applicant pool average on the school website. You will know what you need to do.
They will keep your profile and look at it if you reapply. Think about your interview next year. Do you really want it?

Yikes! I'm so nervous for the hold people now. The count down is on...we're going to be hearing back from Western soon after the last interview is decided! I want to earn a spot soo badly, and I know you're all dying to get in too! Does anyone know if the staff informed the last interview session as to how many seats have been filled up so far?

Good luck everyone!:luck:

The speaker said that about half of the spots have been filled for the upcoming class. This means that after 3 interviews, ~60 people accepted their seats. Also, quite a few students in this interview session had been accepted elsewhere (Touro, UoP, out of state) so not everyone who gets accepted this turn will fill a seat! I would assume they will take about 50-60 people from the last interview session (out of 105, their usual average), from which 50% will decline their offers.

That would be a total of about 90 people, meaning another 60-80 would be called from the alternates. Again with the alternates, some of them have been accepted elsewhere.

I was in the March 14 interview and waiting nervously!

So they would be offering more seats to the last interview than to the first interview? Wow. I'm really crossing my fingers now. Good luck to you! I hope you get in!

How many did they offer to the first interview?

Actually, I think the first interview was told that they were the strongest group. I think each of the four groups have about equal number of acceptances given out which comes out to about half declining. Then all four interview groups that are on hold will be re-evaluated to fill the remaining seats due to those that took other offers. I think you are misunderstanding the previous post to think that they will offer all left over seats to the last interview which I don't think is the case.

Exactly, they accept just under one half of their interviewees. From this group, just over half accept their spot. This means that from 105-110 interviewers, only 20-30 fill a spot in the upcoming class.

How is Western for out of staters? I remember seeing somewhere that the number coming from outside of california is quite low. I am afraid that everyone will be from around the area and it will be hard to meet people coming from the other coast. thanks for your opinions!

hey, i'm a current first year student at western
we have about 3 people from out of state.

to be honest, our class is rather friendly, and it shouldn't matter where you are from. it's just your personality type. If you aren't a jerk or annoying, you'll be fine. plus, there are lots of clubs and opportunities to meet people, both in pharmacy, and in other programs. I made so many friends in the DO program just because i like to play ping pong in our commons area.

like i said, it's really just your personality type.

Good luck everyone

Hi,

Does anyone know when they will start giving out the final decision letters? April, May???
Thank you

so i was reading in this post that the last interview heard back via email and got a phone call from their interviewers but at the interview the counselor said that all of us will hear back by regular snail mail. Anyone know which method we will hear back from? or is it because this is the last batch of interview everyone will hear back via snail mail.?

I dont think they are necessarily going to fill more seats. But since this is the last interview they will take the most qualified candidates points wise since thats how the admissions process work and after a certain cut off point they will go back to the alternate list and reevaluate everyone from there and so on and so forth. The more people get accepted elsewhere the more seats for us 😀

i heard the same thing you did...that all of us will hear back via snail mail...

either accept, denial, alternate

By the way, just for reference, we had people get in up until the week of orientation so the decision may go as late as early August. Just keep that in mind as bad as that may sound.

I'm sure they'd inform you by phone/email instead of just snail mail if its that late but don't take my word for it. I'm just a lowly P1 🙂
