2009 western university..anyone yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
does anyone know when the adcom said they were going to meet?

and do they meet to accept ppl from this last interview...and then again to review EVERYONE on hold?

I found out that I was invited to the last interview the day before, but luckily it wasn't a long drive down to Pomona. I think it's all about the waiting game right now, but as a reminder, it is important to have all your shots (hepA,B,C,etc...) and pre-requisites completed in case they do call you the DAY before school starts! If I was that student, I would of gotten a heart attack!

Good luck pre-pharmers! :luck: Oh, happy St. Patricks Day too!

For those that interviewed on the 14th, did any of you guys get an evaluation form to fill out about your interview day experience? I read it in the book, but I was never given one. It stated that it's just to help them plan next year interviews and what they can do to make them better, so I don't think it matters to much. Just curious if I was the only one that didn't get the form though.

nope i didnt get one either

Do you guys know if the average gpa for the March interview was lower than the rest and if our gpa was considerably higher than the norm, would that give us a boost?

I heard that the mean gpa was around 3.1 for the 3-14 interview and mine was around 3.4-3.5.

from what i know the GPA and all your thing in your application allows you to get your interview. And anything else besides that is up for grabs so if you do great in the interview then you have a high likelihood of getting in. So i guess you can say that the interview is the make it or break it portion. I do not think having a 3.4-3.5 will give you a boost but thast just my opinion.

if the mean gpa was 3.1 that means, 50% ppl have 3.11+. i think if you have a higher gpa it will give you a better score---but not necessarily. lots of ppl in my group for feb interviews at ucsf, ucsd, usc...etc so...i think you've got to look at the overall. i think someone that has a 3.0, has a full time job/part-time job and volunteer work may pose a considerable threat to those with high gpas and not as much work/volunteer experience

I interviewed on 3-14 and my GPA was about 3.84...well, that was PharmCAS's GPA (I had an F in one of my courses 7 years ago and they counted that...I retook it, but it still counted in my overall GPA). I think that the last interviewees were not the strongest applicants for only ONE reason: they invited me! I will not have a bachelor's by June 2009...(I wouldn't have one until June 2010). Although it is not a requirement, the Dean made it clear that there is almost next to none chance of getting in.

But then again, maybe the last interviwees were the ones that applied the latest? I know I turned in my application in person 1 month before the deadline....

Anyways, all applicants that got an interview, no matter when, deserved it, and I would like to think that everyone has an equal chance of getting in.

Good luck peoples....:xf:

We should be hearing from then next wednesday correct?

Montclair,

I have a friend who graduated from Western U without a B.A. But that was a few years ago. I wonder if that has changed.

You already got into USN though....are you trying to stay in so. cal?

Definitely not. Only people that interviewed 3-14 that were accepted.

yea i thoguht it would take two weeks also and since the counselor said that everything is going out by snail mail... maybe i heard wrong maybe they send us and email first? now i am confused... i am getting anxious! and nervous

Hey. For those of you that interviewed and sent thank-you letters or e-mails to the person that interviewed you: did they respond back to you?

the faculty member that interviewed me sent me a reply and wished me good luck!

I finally received my rejection letter (without interview) in the mail. Well, I haven't physically seen the letter, but that's what I heard from my mother.

yeah for western they didn't respond back to me either.

get ready for wednesday ppl!!!

No mail today. I looked and Western goes on spring break on the 26th, so hopefully we'll have it by then. I can't wait for this process to be over because I'm tired of stalking my mailbox/email.

No phone call, no email, no mail yet. So much impatient now.

lol, the waiting stinks. I read on their site they go on spring break tomorrow, so hopefully they'll either drop the letters in the mail today or email/call today.

i am pretty sure everyone will know by april. I may be wrong, but i think it takes that last group of interviewees to get their decision.

I think the ones mentioning the waiting right now are the last group of interviewees. I know am one from that group, and they told us two weeks, so we should hear back this week. I hope. 😀

so the ones on hold will hear back in APril...haha..oops!

Nothing all day today, and it's almost 5, which I assume that's when they close. Maybe they dropped acceptance letters in the mail today. Hopefully.

i think the last block receives their acceptance letters via snail mail. check last year's thread, or call western.

So did anyone call them earlier and ask?

They said they were sending out letters by snail mail, so I didn't figure it was necessary to call. I guess if you don't hear from them after they get back from Spring Break, you should probably give them a call (if you're from the last group of interviewees).

just FYI
the students are on spring break.

but all the faculty and administrative people are still at work. they'll still be around if you want to call or hassle them.

Okay, thanks! 😀

Nothing here yet. I figured I'd probably be a day or two behind SoCal people getting their letters since I'm not local.

Nothing here as well. Local applicant with 3/14 interview.

i live in socal. the mail just came and there was nothing from western... so nervous.

Well I guess we shouldn't worry too much since nobody has heard from them. It seems like the groups before us got theirs earlier than us.
