Yea, I interviewed in October...and have been passed over many times = definite rejection/wait list. Luckily I'm in at one of my top choices.

Yup, I also interviewed in late October here and haven't heard ne thing since. Does everyone who interviews at Emory and isn't accepted get waitlisted after march 8 or do they reject some people too? Also does ne one knows how much (if any) movement off the waitlist emory has historically?

I'm not sure about if they reject anyone at the end of the cycle, but per their webpage, they say waitlist movement can be anywhere from 8 to 30 people

Actually, here is the website link...

I left my interview info packet in Atlanta, but I swear the calendar included with it said they do reject people outright - a couple weeks after the last acceptance mailing.

Interviewed a few weeks ago, I'm 99.9% sure they said no one is rejected.

No one is rejected during the interview season. I'm fairly sure that after the last round of acceptances come out, some are put on an alternate list and some are rejected.

I received in an email this past Friday saying I would not be selected for an interview.

I don't think there are any official post-interview rejections (until August at least - which means everyone who interviews is either accepted or waitlisted). No one is rejected during the interview season and only rejections are to individuals pre-interview.

Accepted on the west coast! I think my letter got here earlier, but I was out of town on another interview so I didn't check my mail until today. WAHHOOO!!

Interviewed Feb 4th.

has anyone heard from emory about the woodruff interview weekend yet?

Alright! One of my best friends interviewed 3 days after you and I was starting to worry that he had no chance.

Congrats 😀

Has anyone else received the financial documents accepted email that has NOT been accepted? I haven't heard any good news yet.... is this a good time to freak out?

I've gotten emails that they've "received" my FAFSA and PROFILE apps, but the emails don't say anything about them being "accepted'.

Further inquiry would suggest that my excitement was for naught.

Yo how long was it between the time you guys submitted the FAFSA and PROFILE apps and then heard that they got them? I submitted around Jan 21.

I think I submitted my FAFSA on like Feb 3, and I did the PROFILE yesterday. And I got both emails today.

so I interviewed back in October and never heard back, so it's pretty obvious that I'm waitlisted. I included Emory on my FAFSA, but have not yet completed the Profile or mailed them my tax returns (I got an email today that my FAFSA had been received but that this additional info was missing). Should I complete the Profile and send in the tax returns now on the off chance that I actually get in at some point?

It seems like I should have gotten one, but after this whole process you get too used to waiting for things to be processed in apparently zero order. I'll hang for a few weeks and see what happens. Thanks man.

I don't think you can conclude you were waitlisted, someone else was also accepted in the last batch (also in Feb) and he/she interviewed in october.

My philosophy is, given lack of information, assume a positive outcome.

Accepted !!! Received a phone call for acceptance last night. For those interested, I interviewed end of February.

That's random I wonder how they decide who to call regarding acceptances and who not to call!

Interesting... they definitely told us (on 2/14) that acceptances would only go out via snail mail, no calls or emails allowed. Am I totally making that up, SDN world?

Also, adcom meeting tomorrow... :luck: to all!

pinky I do not think you are making that up...they def did said that ALL acceptances would only be mailed. However, looking at previous rounds of acceptances, there were a few sporadic cases where people have been called.

ALSO - at my interview they said letters would be mailed out on the 8th, but for the last two years acceptances were sent out a few days before. Do you think that will be the case this year??

:laugh:It doesn't matter. If they do it'll be one day early (today) or last Friday, but that would be less likely right?

As I'm learning from Columbia's decisions, you should definitely not sweat a day or two with decisions coming via USPS. People that live in California have gotten their letters, and I live in Brooklyn and still have nothing. It sucks, but you should just hope for something sometime in the next week or week and a half - no way to predict it exactly.

Yeah I really need to be patient, but I'm just anxious to know where I'll end up next year. Emory was a really amazing school, but also a reach...so I'm hoping for the best.

I know just what you mean. I've freaked out about Columbia so much I don't have any freak out energy left.

Please post it if anyone get a call or letter. Also what is your status. Thank you!

I hope so! Otherwise I won't find out until the end of March. Gosh darn you, international travel!

I was accepted here MSTP earlier last month and received a phone call (from the MSTP directors) a few days before the packet came in the mail.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

This probably won't help any of you waiting but it took two weeks from the date of the letter to reach my house in Virginia. Granted, that was during the holidays and all the snow down in Atlanta. Good luck to everyone! Hope you hear some good news

Accepted 1.5 weeks ago (2/27) via large envelope in the mail. Very excited! Best of luck to those of you awaiting your letters.

Random question: Does anyone recall if Emory has true P/F grading with no internal ranking?

When did you interview?

And I'm 99% sure they do have true P/F with no ranking.

Interviewed in the last week of January.

So if there's true P/F, than there's prob no AOA? I know, these questions make me sound like a gunner...

There's AOA for sure (for sure like I know a guy 🙂 ). In unranked P/F programs the main determinant is your clinical grades, which are not P/F. Sometimes I hear they'll also take your extracurricular activities into account for AOA.

nah...AOA is very important for competitive specialties and fellowships...

Hey guys, so I know it says the date the FAFSA and PROFILE should be complete by is March 1st, but I'm filling out my FAFSA now. I'm not applying for any need-based scholarships, but just for student loans. Is this actually a problem? I had no idea the date was so soon, and pretty much dropped the ball on that one.

I'm like 99% sure that the deadline doesn't apply to you. The March 1 thing is definitely for need-based because they have to do some number crunching and stuff. If you just want loans, I'm pretty sure there's a set procedure and set amount of federal loans you can get, so it doesn't take nearly as long to figure out on their end.

FAFSA is really easy though, and there's nothing you can do about the deadline at this point. So I would say just hurry and fill it out, and call them if you feel like it.

Agreed. Regarding loans, since the subsidized (Stafford) is need-based, it might be a first-come first-serve type deal, although I'm not sure. I wouldn't think it makes a difference for unsubsidized loans, as long as you're in this month.
