Quick question-- would you guys consider having your secondary comlete with LORs in mid Auguest to be early, middle of the road, or late? I got some last minute LOR changes & was wondering if it's worth it to postpone turning in secondaries for a better LOR.

I'd say middle of the road

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got an call for an interview from LECOM-Brandenton... OMG! It's for August 27th... That is freaking far away... Wow, my LORs haven't even been sent out yet! Eeek! Im on cloud nine right now. 😛

CONGRATS!!!!!

Wish AACOMAS would get my MCAT scores to them, other than that I'm complete <pulls hair out>

CONGRATS!!!! I'm surprised that LECOM is already handing out interviews, crazy. The building they are in is very new and clean, its really nice. Their OMM lab is really nice also, much nicer than the ones I saw at Touro or Western. Interview day is very relaxed, you will meet with all of the other interviewees, have your interview, get an OMM presentation and sit through a PBL session with the 2nd years. Lunch was pretty decent as well.

Interview will be two interviewers and IIRC its open file. Questions are very similar to what you'll find on the interview feedback section. Nothing super difficult or testing ethics/political views. It seems like they basically just want to get to know you. Heather is very nice and the whole staff seems to care. Hopefully I'll get a call for one as well and maybe I'll see you there 😛

btw, you will need to send your LORs before the interview and a DO letter before they'll officially accept you.

Wow! Great advice! She didn't mention the letters, but they are all ready to be sent (DO included), just waiting for the actual committee letter... And it's electronic so I'm sure it will get to them in a few weeks. It will be awesome if we both end up in the same group! They have interviews on Aug 23rd or Aug 27th. I chose the Friday one so I can get off of work for it...

I did the same last year and plan on doing the same this year. Its much easier for me to get off Thursday/Friday than Monday/Tuesday. Just looked back and saw that last year I submitted my secondary on 10/27 and my interview invite confirmation e-mail is 11/5. They have a very fast turnaround on interview invites. Touro-NV is very fast as well, I got that invite about 10hrs after the LECOM one last year. I was flying high that night  Not to mention my birthday is the 7th so It was a neat birthday present lol

I have recieved

CCOM RVUCOM UNECOM SOMA

I am still waiting for AZCOM 🙁

Applied: UMDNJ, Nova, Touro NV, Touro CA, Western, PCOM.
Received: UMDNJ. 🙄

Some schools will require you to have submitted your LORs in order to be considered complete and go before the admissions committee (AZCOM/CCOM spring to mind) Others will allow you to get an interview invite before your LORs have been received, such as LECOM. I'd get them out as soon as possible.

On the topic of LORs, are you guys only sending the letters that fit with the schools requests? I have a lab PI letter from research and an employer letter from my job which are my two strongest letters. unfortunately neither of them fit in with the requests of schools. I'm contacting each school right now to find out their policy on LORs but damn its a pain in the ass. especially because most are on the east coast and I work during the day out here on the west coast. Makes it difficult to find a time to call.

I'd send them anyway. If they don't want to look at them, the no biggie. I don't think it could hurt.

Yay!! That's awesome! I'm excited for you 🙂. Keep us updated!!

CCOM said they'll be added to my file and to remember "its quality of the letters not quanitity" I wanted to send an e-mail back but refrained. I'll be sending 4-5 letters there tomorrow.

Thanks everyone!!! Don't be jealous! You will all get interviews soon enough! 🙂 Plus, it kind of sucks knowing that I have to wait two months for mine anyway... The suspense is killing me!

About LORs, I have not sent mine, but if you have them, send them ASAP! Also, I am sending my whole packet of letters (Research PI, Grad professor, MD boss, DO I scribed for and the committee letter). I hope they don't mind there are so many... I feel that they are all strong letters, so I don't want to pick and choose.

Actually, when I interviewed at LECOM-B, I was asked a couple of ethics questions and my interviewers grilled the HELL out of me. When I got to the point where they asked me if I had any questions for them, I already felt that the interview went horribly for me that I basically blurted out, "So, what are my chances of getting in?" At that point, the interviewers seemed taken aback that I asked the question so bluntly and laughed it off saying, "Oh don't worry, we just wanted to make sure you weren't crazy or anything." End result? Accepted 2 days later. Guess I wasn't THAT crazy. :meanie:

Anyway, to all interviewees: always expect the worst and prepare for it. That way, you'll be pleasantly surprised if the interview ends up casual and super relaxed.

noshie - congrats and good luck with LECOM-B. I loved the school more than I thought I would and almost went if I hadn't gotten into my top choice.

Your experience seems to be slightly atypical but good to know for the future I guess.

For those of you who have submitted KCOM's secondary are you just picking 2 letter writers to be the evaluators and sending a packet or are you only sending 2 letters or other? I'm thinking of putting a DO letter and a random science letter but sending extras as well.

Sure thing -
3.64 cGPA, 3.52 sGPA, 27P (all 9's)

I suppose. Though the other 2 interviewees in my group were also grilled during their interviews by the same people. (Note: Although my interviewers were quite intimidating during the actual interview, they were very friendly and welcoming otherwise) However, the other 7 interviewees that day said their interviews went very smoothly and were relaxed.

Just got an interview at LECOM erie! soooo excitedd, hands are shakingg

Well, I applied to UMDNJ, PCOM, CCOM, UNECOM, VCOM, LECOM, Touro, NOVA and New York COM.

So far I've only gotten UMDNJ, CCOM, UNECOM, VCOM and LECOM back. I'm still in the process of completing my apps, but I'm waiting on my DO LOR.

I'm also retaking the MCAT on July 16th. My first score was 24 (all 8's). 🙁

Congrats HockeyDr09! That's wonderful news. If you don't mind me asking, when was your primary verified and when did you submit your secondary? Also, did you submit your LOR already. Thanks

Hey guys

How much did you guys write for the secondary application essays for KCOM? Just wondering if we need to fill up the essay box to the word limit.

Hey guys

I wrote about 475 words for each. I think I wrote a little much though. O well

Asked a couple of times now but no answer, who did you guys put for your 2 evaluations. I have a strong science letter I'm going to use. My DO letter may be generic though. I also have an extremely strong clinical employment letter that I want to use. I"m wondering if i should put the DO as my 2nd evaluation or the employer. I was going to send a couple extra letters anyway but i'm not sure how they'd prefer it. I called the office but haven't gotten a call back yet. I want to submit by today

On Touro-CA's secondary, do we really only get 4 lines on why they should accept us?

congrats on the interview invites. ahhhh, i can't wait to get one hopefully.
does anyone know if LECOM gives out interviews if i already have an mcat score that's right on for the school but have another score pending?

u have to be e-mail them and tell them you want the committee to review your application with your current mcat score,

be warned tho, if they decide they don't want to interview you, you're done, you won't be re-reviewed when your new score comes in.

I applied to 14 schools (too many to list)

The only schools I haven't hear from are

William Carey, Pikeville, Touro NY, KCUMB, Western OR

man, i'm really jealous about these interview invites, I really want an interview but most schools are waiting for my mcat retake so i'm not gonna hear for a while. I guess it kinda defeats the purpose of me applying so early, but at least I don't have to worry about secondaries later.

On Touro-CA's secondary, do we really only get 4 lines on why they should accept us?
I was wondering the same thing. I'm just going to put a short paragraph of about 4-6 lines, otherwise it will get pretty redundant. Oh and Touro-CA's secondaries are finally out and being sent through the mail for those who were curious.

I am also jealous of the interview invites. I keep checking my LECOM status and it remains "under review".

Were DMU and Touro-NV on your list?

They're the only two I haven't heard from yet.

no, didnt apply to those

for LMU-DCOM on the second essay question did you guys answer it as asked, or did you just answer it as who inspired you to be a physician?

congrats on the interview invites. ahhhh, i can't wait to get one hopefully.

Yes they do. I had my score in and another one pending in July and they invited me without waiting. Good Luck:luck:

Stats

27Q, 3.0Sci 3.14 Overall 3.6Nsci
Good EC's, had to work through undergrad, non-trad

AACOMAS Complete and verified June 1st, LECOM secondary in June 10th

This is not true. If they feel you have strong enough score you will be fine.

your mcat is better than my current one, but my sGPA is equally better than yours, so i think i've got a shot once i get my new mcat.

not sure if this has been asked before ... but how exactly is everyone sending out secondaries? the large envelopes or the regular mail sized envelopes with the papers folded?

Just stay positive. When I started that underdog thread I had 5 or 6 people come in just to tell me I really didn't have a shot and they couldn't see why I would possibly apply early and blah blah blah. I want to get in more then anything else and I think it showed throughout my application. I bet you're the same way and you'll get your interview soon enough.

just went to have mine released today. my health professions office said its gonna take about a week and a half to send them out. and im plannin to just send all my LORs in since im sending it as a packet

on a side note, do schools monitor how long it took for someone to return the secondary? ive gotten caught up in work and some other things and havnt had a chance to send out UNECOM's secondary which ive had for sometime now

Touro CA came Monday, nothing from NV yet, didn't apply to NY.

Thanks for all the congrats everyone, hopefully we all get in and become classmates! (if you want to go to LECOM E that is). I'm working on other secondaries now, wishing they were as easy as LECOM's.
