I still havn't sent this one out yet because I still don't really know what to put. I agree, though, that this is definitely gonna be my worst secondary essay answer.

question about PCOM's secondary:
1) everyone agree that the brief statement is pretty much one page single space?

2) for the question "what healthcare experience do you have," should we just list it or give a brief description of each of our health care experiences?

Yeah, I'm still working on Lebanon's essay as well... I kind of took the weekend off. Needed to just relax for a bit.

As far as the PCOM secondary, mine was about a page single spaced and I just gave a brief highlight of my healthcare experience. There really isn't much space for the healthcare experience, so you really can't add much.

There are certain schools that have a 30 day due date when they send a secondary out (not any DO schools as far as I know though)

MSU-COM has a 30 day deadline for the supplemental app once you're invited to complete it. They are the only one I know of, though. However, "the sooner the better" is no lie!

Haha, I was just thinking this last night! I heard that a lot of interviews are sent out on Monday and Tuesday... Especially in Texas! I always count down the minutes every day between 4pm and 5pm. It’s the slowest hour of my life… I figure if I don’t get a call by 5pm, then I probably won’t get one... 😛 Lets hope this is the week when everyone starts getting some good news!

MSU-COM has a 30 day deadline for the supplemental app once you're invited to complete it. They are the only one I know of, though. However, "the sooner the better" is no lie!

There has been a few of the secondaries that have stated something along the lines of "your application will be delayed if the secondary is not recieved in 30 days".

Noshie and BigBoosting, you both crack me up. I too feel your pain. I think technology has made it worse for us compared to years ago. Can you imagine checking your blackberry every few minutes hoping you get an email inviting you for an interview. lol

Luckily, I don't have internet on my cell!!! But I sit at my work desk pretty much all day (from 6am to 2pm) and my email is open the whole time. It refreshes itself, but I still seem to think I need to reload it because there are no emails coming in the past few weeks! I need to get a hobby...

I feel ya!!!!! I have been using my parents' money paying for my secondaries since last MONTH because I won't get paid until July 30th. I'm not even sure if I will have enough money to pay them back. 🙁 I'm just grateful that my parents have been super supportive..🙂 You should ask your family for money and pay them back whenever you can. Good luck!

i just got a secondary invite from Touro-NY..and it is $200!

on the application document, it says only DO letter but then I called the admissions office and they said MD or DO is both acceptable..

anyone else checked with them or applied there with a MD letter before? I know Touro-CA accepts both..so i am thinking Touro-NY is the same.

I checked Touro - CA and NV before I applied and neither require a DO letter, so that makes sense to me.

I hear ya on that one. I'm not looking forward to non-refundable deposits. My parents would likely pay those with a promise of paying them back.

I've only got UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCF, VCU left that screen (probably not getting them) then USC, Drexel and NYMC, none of which screen but I haven't gotten Drexel or NYMC yet. Then Touro-NV which hasn't sent them out yet.

They're less likely to be ok paying for secondaries, MAYBE help with interview costs. I'm not sure what to do with that but if after this paycheck on Thursday I can't pay for interview costs I'm going to have to ask them.

In good news the 221 dollars I had on the ticket is what my fine was reduced to! I get 234 back within 60 days so that will help! lol

Im in the same boat, Db. I am sitting on my PCOM-Ga and Case until I get paid on Thursday. My bike got stolen from work on Friday so I've got to fork over the cash to get a new one (its my main transportation to work--even though I have a car).

This is similar to my routine too! Except I'm still slightly bitter that MCG hasn't even sent me a secondary. I spent 22/out of the 27 years of my life living in Georgia, my family, parents, etc live in GA, but I'm technically a resident of AL, so no love from MCG. Boo!

I sent an update letter last week to 5 schools I'm very interested in. If you don't have anything to update, I'm not sure what you should do.

I think it's too early to worry about calling places, etc.. A good number of schools don't even have secondaries out yet.

Wow, a lot of activity on here! I went ahead and scheduled since DbDan made a great point about spots filling up. I took Friday Sept 17th also!!! Looks like I will be seeing a lot of you guys there!

I was complete at AZCOM around 7/16... So DbDan, you have a while to wait I think if they are going in order. Maybe by next week!

And DbDan, I am going to give you a quick pep talk... I know this process is crazy, and the wait can be UNBEARABLE. Seriously, I think I am going to punch a wall if I don't get an interview in my state by next week... But you have all of your bases covered, you have great ECs, life experience, and a kick a** MCAT score! So I am confident that you will get in to your top schools. Good things come to those who wait... I'm going to go ahead and make a bet right now. Take notes people! I think you will have over 8 interviews this cycle. And I want to guess that you will get at least 4 acceptances. Plus, early interviews for you could be a nightmare, you will waste tons of money on deposits getting in this early! Dont worry, when the flood gates open, I am willing to bet that you will be the one with the most interviews... 🙂 Feel better?


Oh, and no one is more frustrated than me! I walk around all day working with way too young medical students that don't know their head from their a**, but somehow were accepted to one of the top schools in Texas. No joke, many of them lack all common sense. They have a class in the same classroom next to my office every day, and yet they continually forget where the classroom is and end up walking into my office, which by the way is the size of my closet... I mean, they have been taking this class twice a day, twice a week for the last month! So everyday one of them will ask me what year I am and I have to explain that I am a research assistant that is applying to med school. Which sucks to have to explain to people all the time... But, who cares, no matter how long it takes, I'm getting where I am going, and when I get there it's going to be the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Haha thanks, if I somehow managed 8 interviews and 4 acceptances it will be WAY beyond what I'm even remotely expecting. I'm thinking more like 1-2 acceptances in 2-3 interviews (if I'm lucky). We'll see what happens, just hard seeing everyone else get interview invites while I'm sitting waiting. Even more frustrating when the school delayed my application 3 weeks by not processing my LORs. We'll see. SDN is bad for my health haha

keep ur heads up! cant get down about things we have no control over, but i def kno how u guys are feelin. i too am not sure what ill be doin next year if i cant get in. and dont kno if i want to risk going overseas. just tryna stay positive

and now that i think about it, when everyone on here started talking about getting interviews from the LECOMs, i didnt get mine til a week later, so maybe thatll be the case with AZCOM as well! i seem to receive things like the secondaries much much later than everyone. and i think noshie seems to be the first person to receive everything 🙂

Truth... hard to do but I guess being patient is the only thing we can do. This would be much easier if I actually had something to take up my time. Having only worked 2 of the last 8 weeks is ruining me (no patients). At least up until this week I had at least one secondary to work on.

I'm right there with you. They received all of my stuff by July 13th, but no interview for me 🙁 yet...

You wouldn't happen to be retaking the MCAT would you? I am August 5th, so I feel like mine is hopefully just on hold at the moment

Haha thanks, if I somehow managed 8 interviews and 4 acceptances it will be WAY beyond what I'm even remotely expecting. I'm thinking more like 1-2 acceptances in 2-3 interviews (if I'm lucky). We'll see what happens, just hard seeing everyone else get interview invites while I'm sitting waiting. Even more frustrating when the school delayed my application 3 weeks by not processing my LORs. We'll see. SDN is bad for my health haha

Dude!!! You have an interview already!!!! Stop yo' cryin'!!! I still don't even have one yet and I applied to 31 schools (thus far)... You'll be fine, it's just a looooooooong process.

Truth... hard to do but I guess being patient is the only thing we can do. This would be much easier if I actually had something to take up my time. Having only worked 2 of the last 8 weeks is ruining me (no patients). At least up until this week I had at least one secondary to work on.

Rejected from UCI today too 🙁 Oh well lol

You should go volunteer somewhere. Try a local pet shelter. They always need people to walk their dogs and there is nothing better to take your mind off of applications than hanging out with a bunch of puppies all day. 😉

I'm wondering if I'm in this "hold" boat as well... Oh well, the way I look at it is this gives me a little more time to prep all my secondaries and to keep things in order at work without interview distractions. I hope if I do start to get some interviews that they are all around the same time, because I'm not sure if I will be able to keep taking days off of work, unless I have enough stuff to do to work remotely from a hotel... Oh well, I guess that would be a good problem to have. 🙂

I know I've got one but I'm not happy yet I got an interview there last year and it didn't work out so I don't have high hopes. I'm a negative person, what can I say haha

I go back to work next Monday (thankfully for cash and time reasons) so hopefully I'll be better off after that.

I got this one yesterday so they're probably still working on sending them out.
