Recently accepted and very excited.
I sent my acceptance confirmation letter. Should I expect further information relatively soon?

I was also recently accepted and sent an email requesting that they reserve my seat in the class - haven't gotten any sort of response, should I expect one? Also, I was a little confused about the deposit. You can submit the deposit any time between now and May 15? Since it represents my "final decision to attend Tulane" does that mean it's non-refundable and that I shouldn't make the deposit until I'm absolutely sure I'll be going there? Seems a little different than other schools where the deposit needs to be made within 2 weeks of acceptance and is definitely refundable.

Hi there, I will probably get blasted for even asking this, but is there any hope in applying this late? I want to apply to Tulane, but wasnt sure if they do rolling or whatnot

i too received an interview invite for 1/3. does anyone have any idea how much of the class is filled? i have already been accepted to several schools, and january is a rather late interview date. i am very interested in tulane, but i hate to spend a significant amount of money traveling to/from if i am only competing for a waitlist spot. opinions?

just heard back today via email after a mid-november interview date. placed in the acceptance range, which i guess is just like a waitlist? too bad, cause i was really excited about tulane!

That answers your question. Go for it, in the grand scheme of things whats another 300 bucks.

Congrats by the way, when were you complete?

I interviewed on 12/03. The interviewer said the admissions committee would be meeting a little earlier than previous months because of the holiday. The admissions packet says that interviewees will be notified within three weeks after interviewing. I am checking my e-mail and post box daily, anxiously awaiting a response.

To those who have interviewed, at what period of the month did you interview, and when did you get a response? Also - to those who were accepted out right, did the response come by USPS or e-mail?

I am nervous because this is my #1 choice and I am a New Orleans native. I am agnostic....but, nevertheless, please pray for me and wish me luck! :luck:

I interviewed 11/19 and was accepted by email exactly 2 weeks later - the morning of 12/3. Hope this helps. I'm sure you'll hear a decision within the next week. Good luck!!

Thanks! I'd be pleased to attend but I'm not completely sure yet - still waiting to hear from 2 schools that I also liked very much. Keep us posted on how it all pans out for you! 🙂

Just placed in acceptance range

Ah, sorry to hear that, I was routing for you! I'm not sure exactly how the "acceptance range" works but hopefully it'll get some movement and you'll get accepted! Write them a really sweet letter of intent and hopefully it will help you. 👍

Is that kind of like a waiting list or a hold?

From what I understand, it's like a waiting list but has a lot of movement. They only interview 500 people for a class of 190-ish, so a high percentage end up being accepted from the acceptance range.

Lots of people get in from the acceptance range, particularly people who really want to go there.

It takes them a while to screen your app because Tulane still actually reads your whole application as part of the screening process. Most other places screen by numbers prior to any human review.

It's one of the things that gives Tulane its character.

also placed in acceptance range last week. Does anyone know if they accept additional letters of rec?

I submitted my secondary on 11/03. I just received the complete email on 12/16. I know everyone's said this, but poor Tulane.... they're so behind... (though I suppose I might have been a little behind myself)

Anyway, good luck everyone! :xf:

Accepted by phone. Interviewed 12/3. A part of my life in NOLA.... a part I will never forget, I'm sure.

Anyone know if the adcom is still reviewing applications this week? or is an interview invite not likely until after the first of the year?

Got a pre-interview rejection email this morning. So yes, they are still reviewing app's. Secondary was complete 12/1

Just got an interview invite for late January and was complete wayy back in august so there is still hope and they are still sending emails this close to the holidays!

Has anyone had any luck getting to the Tulane financial aid page recently? Every time I click on the health sciences campus financial aid link it redirects me to the main Tulane site? 😕

Edit: Apparently that link was bad! If anyone's interested, here's the correct link: http://tulane.edu/financialaid/hsc/

back from india and interviewing at Tulane next Monday!! hope this goes well :xf: anyone else interviewing that day?

also for those still waiting, it took 100+ days for the invite (complete way back early september) so there is still a lot of hope 🙂

Just received an interview invite for the 24th, been complete since July. Still hope for those waiting. 3.45/35 FWIW.

Has anyone heard anything from the ps/p program?

Interviewing later this month. They say that interviews finish by 2:30. For those who already attended interview, do you think I can make it to 4:00 flight if I took the airport shuttle that they recommend?

No. The shuttle is not quick, it's at least a 30 minute ride, and I think they only run every hour or so. Also, I think they may only pick up from the hotels, so you will have to account for getting yourself there (prob on foot). Airport security is pretty relaxed so once you are there you should be fine. Our day ended around 2. I think it would be possible to make a 4 pm flight, but it would take a great stroke of luck.
I promise you will find something interesting to occupy any extra time you have in NOLA. Enjoy your interview, good luck!

I am traveling to New Orleans to interview soon, and I plan on spending a few extra days checking out the city. I would really appreciate it if those of you who live there or have visited could give me some advice.

What is a good neighborhood to rent a hotel room in?

What neighborhood do most students live in?

What are some must-see New Orleans attractions? (I know this could be a long list). And maybe some less-known local haunts?

Is renting a car the best way to see the area, or is public transportation pretty good?

Thanks in advance!

Just got my email acceptance, first one!

Complete 8/31, Invite 12/13, Interviewed 1/7, accepted 1/14, so quick!

So relieved to finally be in somewhere, loved Tulane on my interview day, everyone seemed so happy and relaxed, still waiting on some others but feeling great about NOLA

Stay in the French Quarter at the hotel Tulane has a good rate at. If you can afford a little extra, pay 120-200 to stay at an even better place. Walk around the french quarter, take a ride on the natchez, see some live music (soul rebel, a really great nola band, should be playing somewhere. Check jambase.com). Go to bourbon street at night and go to a dueling pianos bar like pat o's or better. Get a really expensive 5 star dinner--nola has the best cuisine in the country. Take a cab or ride the streetcar uptown to tulane undergrad area and eat at jacques imo's and go to a few bars there like le bon temps. Go hang out at the levy, uptown near tulane at the riverfront. Eat more good food see more good music. Go to Jackson Square. Take streetcar to garden district and see beautiful mansions. Have fun!!

Don't rent a car. Swallow the cab fares and use the streetcar. Walk a lot too. Stay safe. Don't walk aimlessly out of the french quarter. Know where you mean to go.

yankeesmed, thanks very much for your help.

when you say to be mindful of wandering on foot, do you mean just at night or during the day too?

All the time. There would be no reason for you to go to dangerous areas during the day either. One minute you can be on a "good street" and the next you could be in a place you wouldn't want to be. As long as you keep your eyes open you will be fine.

New Orlean's is our country's most wonderful little city. There are very poverty-stricken areas, which is why practicing medicine in New Orleans is such a unique privilege. These areas are not wise to visit as a tourist, though.

Have an awesome time. You are really in for a treat!

Very excited to be accepted!

I am interviewing at Tulane soon and had indicated on my application that I was interested in applying to the MD/MPH Program Track. However, I have not received any further information or applications concerning the MPH Track. Is there anything that needs to be done for this?

Also, is there interview any different for MD/MPH Candidates as opposed to regular MD Candidates?

Thanks.

I think you need to be accepted to the MD program first. I was accepted in December and recently received an email with the application for the MPH program - the due date is March 15. So I think the interview process is the same and that if you are accepted for MD you can then apply for MPH. The email said that filling out the application for MPH does not commit you to Tulane or to the MPH program. Hope this helps.

The impression I got on the interview day is that it isn't something you even need to worry about until the second semester of the first year

Do any accepted students know the email to send your intent to accept to Dr. Beckman?

The acceptance letter looks like it meant to include one but it's missing.

Is the same e-mail to they say is to decline, [email protected]?

Thanks!

Haha, yea, i had the same thought, I made it very clear in my email that I was accepting just in case there were two different addresses to send it to 🙂.
