ha wow. yea June I remember that e-mail subject header.

dang sl I thought they would e-mail you at least. don't you have acceptances and interviews at other schools though? this shouldn't be bad then.

Called today after not hearing anything from them since my complete email 9/16. Apparently I was rejected in October, but I never received the email. Lame.

Yea, I called to ask something completely unrelated, but they informed me that I was rejected but I got a complete email after that.. so I'm a little confused...

I've had other interviews--2 waitlists, still waiting to hear from others. No acceptances yet 🙁

6 weeks since complete, still no word. Is it common to not hear anything after being rejected? Maybe I should call in a week or so?

Secondary submitted: 10/18
Rejected: 11/19

GPA: 3.47
MCAT: 33R (11 on all sections)
Interest: Primary Care (family med)

First rejection notice

For everyone who called and was told you were "rejected," call back! I called and asked how that was possible since I got my "complete" email after I was supposedly sent my rejection email. Well turns out the admissions office lady misread something and I wasn't rejected...yet.

I hope this doesn't mean I am going to be rejected and she told me in advance, but makes me wonder how they are running things over there. 😱

Rejected today via email.

3.97c GPA
34 MCAT
OOS

I figured I'd at least get an interview because my stats are way above average for the school, but oh well. Good luck to the rest of you. I really wanted to go here.

edit: oh ya, I was complete early October for you inquiring minds.

Interviewed here today- had a great experience. Students were very happy with the school. Interviews were all blind and very conversational/laid back. Facilities are nice and opportunities for community outreach are everywhere. The city is awesome! Great food, people, and music. PM me with any specific questions.

Accepted!!!!
today via email
interviewed november 1

Anyone else complete Oct. 5th or earlier and still not heard anything?

I withdrew my application yesterday but today I got a rejection e-mail. Seems like a case of, "You can't quit cause you're fired!" or "You can't break up with me cause I'm breaking up with you!" Lol...but good luck everyone, Tulane is a great school.

In case anyone is wondering, the rejection e-mail subject is "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM TULANE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE."

got the rejection e-mail today.

3.4

OOS

Good luck everyone else!

(edit: submitted everything in August, complete e-mail mid/late September)

Has anybody used the airport shuttle they mention in the interview information or is everyone just taking cabs?

Complete 11/4, received the (expected) rejection email today! Good luck everyone else 😀:luck:

I took the airport shuttle and it worked out perfectly (and is cheaper than a cab)! You can schedule and pay for it online and just print out your ticket. Very easy.

Called last week, said I was complete. Got email today, saying I was just completed today. Any chance this may elude to a higher chance of recieving an interview invite?

Rejection here too. 🙁
First one of the cycle!

first week of November, like a few of the above posters who also got rejected recently. looks like they take 3-4 weeks to review after your file is complete.

Wow so I see the pattern now... Well I guess I'll know later December...

Any recently accepted applicants (or interviewees) from Atlanta? PM me, I wanna meet some of my classmates! 😎

anyone accepted recently? seems to be around 3 weeks between interview and decision. i interviewed 11/19 and am hoping to hear back from them by the end of next week :xf:

This may be a dumb question... but how on earth can you tell if you've been marked complete or not... seems like FOREVER since I've submitted my application to them... haven't heard back from them yet.

Edit... just found my "time stamp" email... I submitted Oct 18

Double Edit... just what I've heard runnin thru the rumor mill about tulane... is that they accept a very low % of people going straight from undergrad to med school, and that they prefer you have some graduate level degree. True? yes/no?

You'll receive another email saying your application is complete, but it can take several weeks.

Rejected 12/2
Complete 11/10
Almost exactly 3 weeks later. I had a feeling this was coming. I don't think Tulane does a holistic review. Oh well. Good luck to everyone else.

Submitted 10/15l
Complete 12/2

3.38

Should I forget about Tulane??

accepted! fast turnaround...interviewed exactly 2 weeks ago 😀

Rejected today.

Complete 11/12

A bit surprising. I have already interviewed at 3 schools and hold an acceptance from one of those and have another interview Tuesday. I would definitely have loved to at least interview here! Good luck to everyone.

Complete same day as you, rejected same day as you, I thought I had a shot here for atleast an interview.

rejected today pre-interview. complete mid august.

Got a call about an interview invite for 1/28/11. I'm a TRuMEd Applicant. OOS.

Hi, graduate of previous undergrad class at Tulane and still sitting on complete with my app. I just noticed and was disappointed to see that Tulane didn't participate in the US News Rankings this year. Does anyone know why? I feel like no matter what it is better to fill out the information for the ranking than not to be ranked at all. Thanks.

I don't know why Tulane didn't fill it out this year but it doesn't matter. A number of schools don't fill out the survey including Mayo, Penn State, UI-Chicago, UMDNJ, LSU, MC-Georgia, and many more.

interview invite this morning! complete 10/7!! scheduled for 1/3.
wicked excited, it's been eerily quiet for a while. :biglove:

congrats on the interview!

man, this process takes a long time. unfortunately I wasn't complete until 11/15 😕 so it looks like it'll be at least another month until I hear anything.

I've been looking into this too... It seems like a lot of schools don't agree with the rankings... but they don't all have the same response to that sentiment:

I was reading commentary by a medical school dean, I think he was from Penn, and he basically said he could never endorse that type of methodology if one of his faculty were trying to do research using parallel methods, so basically US News does their best but comes up with informed opinions that are based on facts, but are not themselves matters of fact. That said, (he goes on), his school enjoys being ranked well all the time, and that seems to carry some weight because it is consistent. [Sorry I searched for the reference to cite this and I just cant find it so... bear in mind this could of been any dean.]

Other schools seem to prefer non-cooperation. This option makes sense at Tulane because they take great pride in the diversity of experience their students have, and they are so focused on volunteerism and community engagement. Those things aren't numerically valued by US News, so there is a disconnect in priorities.

What I really wish was available is individual rankings of average Step 1 scores, then one of 1st choice matching percentages, and then one of satisfaction data. That said, not everyone likes that idea either. If you are interested people discuss it here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=621835

Congratulations! I'm interviewing the same day 🙂 I submitted on 10/12 and assume that is when I was complete since I did not get any kind of email from them prior to the interview invite.

I excite!
