so I paid for my application on 7/29/10, but somehow i noticed my app wasn't submitted still, so i did it today 9/5/10. Is there any point in submitting it anymore? If so how long does it take to get a response from them?

Sure it is. Plenty of people haven't heard anything back from them. I'm not entirely surprised that I haven't given that I'm a mediocre applicant (though I do work across the street from this school) - but I submitted/paid/was complete around 7/18. So it can be a long while before you do - which is exactly what the 'complete' status says: 'you may not hear til march'... etc. Good luck.

Does anyone think I have a chance at an interview if I add UC to my AMCAS? I applied to them last year while I was in an SMP, e-mailed them continual updates about my progress in the program and extracurriculars etc... but was ultimately rejected in March. Not much has changed since I applied last year besides perhaps some better letters of rec and finalized transcript. I'm also currently a test prep instructor. That's about it. Would it be a waste of my money to try again so late?

A waste of $25 and 10 minutes of time? unless you're super strapped I'd say go for it

Yay!! First interview invite! Submitted 8/17 OOS 34Q/3.8
Heading up for September 17th... anyone else???

Yes it was in an email that read:

"This is to inform you that there has been a change to your status on the MedOneStop homepage at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. We encourage you to log in to our web site and to check the update."

I was scheduled for the 17th which is a week from today. Even though my status page told me to confrim at least 8 days in advance, I called the admissions office (soooo nice to talk to!) and was advised to go ahead and confirm despite what it said.

Hope that helps!

For the "Moving Violation" question: I had a speeding ticket back in HS, and it was "taken care of" by lawyers for an extra fee. I think I had to pay extra to reduce it into a parking misdemeanor. Do you guys think I should explain that? Is it going to show up in a CBC?

Wow I can't believe I haven't gotten an interview.

I was complete 2 days before you and I have higher stats and thousands of hours of activities.

😱

Inappropriate.

Congrats, LadyLoe - I'm sure your lovely personality got you a step up over this entitled individual. Good luck at your interview and let me know all about it - I'm hoping for one here myself!

Yeah, thats not cool. Numbers arent everything. There are other factors that contribute to good doctors. And apparently this school could see that in this person. Good luck

Thanks for sticking up for me! The interview went very well. This is definitely a school that considers your "potential" over your stats, so that could hurt some people who think their numbers will get them through the doors.

The interviews were quite fun too! I was expecting them to be a bit more stressful but I definitely enjoyed myself. Also a big plus was UC's "open" policy. You ask them any question and they will answer it, they have nothing to hide!

I just got an interview invite for UC on September 29 (which I'm super excited about!), but I'm thinking about rescheduling it. Has anyone tried rescheduling or does anyone know what happens after you click the "reschedule" button?

yfei - Congrats! I actually had to reschedule mine. They just give you a list of dates and you pick your top 3 and they will try to accommodate you. I got a reply with my rescheduled interview the next day.

Congrats!! Has everyone gotten their invite by email? I'm anxious for an interview at this school - I'll go any day given that I work across the street! 😛

yfei a big congrats! Cinncy is a phenomenal school and city. I wanted to know when you received the complete email from them? I have been anxiously awaiting from them; this is the first secondary I submitted way back in July (Amcas not verified for a while after though).

hey newnimproved, thanks! I'm actually from cincy so I'm super excited to be going back home for an interview.

I submitted my UC app probably the day my AMCAS got verified end of July, but I never received a complete email from them. The only one I got was a fee received email on 7/29, but on my status page it says Application Complete August 4, 2010
UC On-Line Secondary Application received July 29, 2010.

Also, I don't think they actually start looking at your secondary until after AMCAS gets verified, so I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't heard back from them yet.🙂

Bump, can anyone help with this question? Thanks!!!

Yay interview invite today!

Secondary Submitted: 8/12
Secondary Complete: 9/9
Interview Invite: 9/21
Interview Date: 10/8

For those of you who already interviewed, how long does the interview day last? I'm wondering if I should book a return flight at around 6 pm. Also, did anyone else stay at the Holmes on Eden Hotel? It seems like it's just around the corner of the admission office and it's pretty cheap ($53 per night).

How are all the OOSers getting to the place? I'm wondering how much the shuttle costs from the airport to the school.....

congrats! What time does the interview confirmation say to arrive? If it says arrive at 9:00 I would expect to be out at exactly 3:00. If you have a later interview you will defiinitely not be out by 3. I stayed at the Holmes on Eden Hotel. It was perfect, especially because the price was awesome. Plus there is a nice breakfast in the morning.

Awesome! Breakfast would definitely be nice in the morning  I'm supposed to arrive at 9 AM. So, I'm a bit worried about the ethical/health care questions that they might ask. I looked at the three examples they give you on the MMI page and they did not seem too controversial, but did you encounter any questions that you felt were more difficult? Also, could you tell that your interviewer was a community member or a physician?

Do not worry about the interview, it was suprisingly not as stressful as I had intended. Try to have fun! The questions were not difficult but each interviewer brought up interesting points to your responses. They were not trying to contradict you or anything, they were simplying trying to progress your reasoning on the issues at hand.

The best advice I can give is to be honest. You are not supposed to be able to tell the difference between the doctors, med students, and community members who are interviewing you; however, some said something like "hey I am dr ____ nice to meet you". They all dressed very similar so it is definitely difficult to figure out who is who. All my interviewers were on the older side too, so that made it difficult to tell if someone was a medical student (since most of the members except two appeared to be over 50)

Hope that helps!

do mind sharing if you are you IS or OOS?

Do you guys know on what days interviews are conducted here? Is it Mon through Fri?

Mine is on a Friday, so they clearly do Friday interviews. Although I don't know if there are any days per week they purposefully keep interview-free.

Thanks for the response! For those who have recently scheduled interviews, what is the earliest available date?

Interviewing this Friday. Am I supposed to receive an itinerary for the day? I only see a check-in time.

I stayed at the Springhill Suites Midtown...it was new, very nice and they threw me a free bottle of wine (since I stayed on points). It was about 5-10 minutes away from the school though so you will need a car.

Stay at the Holmes on Eden. I booked my room as soon as I got my invite, and my invite was emailed to me a WEEK before my date. They had rooms aplenty.

Is the floor clean at Holmes on Eden? There will be three people in my hotel room and one of us has to sleep on the floor. I just read that Holmes on Eden used to be a hospital? This made me a bit nervous about the quality of the room....

Holmes is a little creepy because it clearly feels like you are staying in a hospital room and it is outdated (obviously they are running an affordable hotel to cancer hospital patients and familyso they needed to furnish it with cheaper things). I stayed by myself but was in a room with double beds and they use that term loosely because it was only two twin beds, not actually two doubles. The place feels relatively clean, but truthfully I didn't pay too much attention to the floor. It was worth the $53 because they had a free breakfast included which was more than I expected and it is litterally right next door to where you need to be.

does anyone know where to find a match list for cincinnati?

Thanks! Yeah, I mostly booked it for its proximity to the admission office. I will be prepared for potential creepiness😀

At first I didn't even think I was in the right place when I got to Holmes...it looks like a clinic. But you have to go up to the 3rd floor to check in. The room is WAY nicer than what the first floor suggests. I thought everything was clean and there's a mini-fridge too (obviously most important part).

I thought the interview was kind of fun, there were a couple interviewers who sat like stone walls...kinda made me anxious. But overall I think it went well, here's hoping!

I completely agree with this. Holmes was a very good deal - it looks like a hospital but the room is as good as any hotel room. Also, the place you interview at is right across the street, so it couldn't have been more convenient. The only thing I suggest is bringing a pair of flip flops to avoid showering in the stall barefoot.

MMI was definitely fun! I liked all of my interviewers, they were all smiling and very conversational. I also liked the med school facility. A lot of their rooms (including the library) have glass walls, which made the place feel really open. They have a fitness center (which offers free fitness workshops) right underneath the classrooms, so staying in shape will be a lot easier

We hear back in approx 3 weeks. I really hope I get in, and good luck to you guys too :luck:

Just wanted to add that Dr. Manuel is way cool. He's actually quite funny and really relaxed, and I thought he was really upfront and honest about the entire process. He didn't give us the run-around or a non-answer to anything we asked.

I have an interview on October 19th as well! I only found out a week ahead of time but I'm super excited because it's going to be my first interview! 😀 How many applicants were there on interview day? And does anyone know a rough idea of how many people are accepted out of interviews?

has anyone who interviewed on Sep 17th received any news? Today was suppossed to be the day....
