FWIW, I've tried to pull off Lenny's look before- with the open shirt with the chest hair and the tight pants. For some reason, it just never works out for me. Le sigh. I bet if I would have shown up to my interviews in that getup I wouldn't even BE on the waitlist. I would have been offered an acceptance and full scholarship on the spot. Considering going that route next cycle...

Were you on the waitlist/did you know which third you were in?

Why did you post that you just got accepted when you already said that back in January?

I think he posted on the wrong thread, as he said it was meant for another thread. Unfortunately, University of South Carolina and University of Southern California frequently get mixed up as they both are "USC".
 
I'm not trying to be ugly; forgive me if I'm wrong. But shi7s has exactly 6 posts, every one of which has been in this thread, and a couple of which have seemed designed to stir stuff up. No idea why anyone would want to do such things, but I'm inclined to call BS. I'd take pretty much everything he/she says with a boulder-sized grain of salt.

Does anyone know if they are definitely waiting till May 15 let people in from the waitlist or are they going to admit people as space becomes available?

I've thought about this. I haven't heard of anyone getting off of the waitlist yet- have you or anyone else?
 
I just called and spoke to Shelly to see where I was on the waitlist... I'm on the top third! Hopefully there will be alot of movement so I don't have to reapply!

She said to call her back in about three weeks for an update if I haven't heard anything and also that I might hear something before then!

That call relieved a little bit of my stress. I have been concerning with having to rewrite my personal statement and adding to my application.

So does anyone have any legitimate idea of how large the waitlist is?

And how much movement there usually is (through the top, middle, to the bottom)?

I know it varies but on average?

Lol...I just didn't want to know that I was not in the Top third. Anxiety levels back to normal now!

They wont say how many people are on the wait list. I think they made it to the middle third of the wait list last year. I have not confirmed this with admissions but this was what I picked up from this thread.
 
quick question... for schools like USC with a 2 week deadline on the deposit: Am I correct in assuming that the deposit is simply to hold your place in the class until further notice? Or is it a sort of binding agreement that you will attend USC in the fall regardless of later acceptances from other schools?

Pretty sure it's the former.
 
i thought it was simply to hold ur place and after may 15th u are committed to whichever school still holds ur deposit. I sent in my deposit into usc and other schools and am now just withdrawing so its not binding until after may 15th deadline
 
I just withdrew my position. Good luck to all those waitlisted.
 
This thread has been dead for several days now, but I'm curious as to whether anyone has been, or has heard of anyone else being, accepted off the waitlist yet this year?? It's May 15th, so I would expect the USC waitlist to start to move this week!

Last week, Shelley told me they would start either last Friday (the 13th) or Monday.

Ya'll, I missed a call from USC. I KNOW! I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED IT!!! Anyway, Shelley Streeter left me a 10 second message asking me to call her back. Do you think that means I"m accepted?!?!!!?!? I called her back right after I saw it as "Missed" on my phone, but of course it was 3 minutes ago, so after 5! Why else would she be calling me, today of all days? I've been thinking about the alternatives- maybe she called me to ask questions about my LOI. Maybe she's calling to reject me. I am sort of thrown off because I had read that Dr. Ford calls, so I don't know. On a scale of 0-10, what do you think the chances are that this was an acceptance call?


ETA: Sorry for the melodrama. 😉 If this is an acceptance call, it's my first acceptance and I'm definitely going. My whole family is in Columbia. It would be amazing.

How do you know that no one gets rejected from the waitlist?
I guess someone told in the forum they at the most they go to the middle third in the wait list.

To clarify for you a little bit: I think they meant that the admissions committee will not call people on the waitlist to let them know that they are not admitted. Its true, they will continue to fill the class this summer as people give up their spots. I believe that once the classes start in August that they rejection letters to those who were not accepted from waitlist.

I got the call May 16th and they sent out a packet in the mail the next morning which I recieved yesterday. The deadline in the packet was May 31.

Though I have a low mcat but I am still positive to hear from them.

I resigned from my job on Thursday! So happy that I don't have to say there for another year.
