I knew the interviews did not come out right away when I saw youtube videos posted this morning....WELL TONIGHT is the big day! Slash maybe today because that one guy said he got his invite during the day around 4pm

You mean, that since videos are posted, invites could not have gone out? That's fairly accurate, and I know I'm keeping my phone on me all day, just in case.

The first batch of LOR requests went out 7/1. No one has received confirmation, so maybe they're skipping that this year, but there's no telling if they'll give out invites to only people in the first batch or if everyone who has received them are in the pool.

Does Mayo typically only give out interviews to the people in the first batch of LOR requests? I am resisting the urge to go read last year's thread to find out because I could easily spend 2-3 hours on this forum if I did that. I got my request on July 9th... I am hoping I am still in the running!

I've already spent those hours on last year's thread (well, actually a bit more than that), and I found the answer pretty fast. Of the two people who posted their timeline, both had the LOR request the first possible day. A few people received invites the a few days later, and their LOR requests had come later.

After that, rejections started coming to people who had LOR requests, both first round LOR and later, and to people who had no LOR requests.

Therefore, in a nutshell, after this first round of invites, we'll start seeing many more rejections.

Of course, it's hard to say that this year will follow the same pattern. We really won't know until tonight and tomorrow.

Subsequent days. And yes, if the people in the first batch of LOR requests do not get invites, that's pretty much it. Nothing is certain until the official rejection, but that's a very bad sign.

Wait, I am confuse. Why's it this batch or bust? Is the idea that if you don't get invites with the batch you got LOR requested with THEN you're in the pot? Not that any amount of speculating is useful, buuuut can't help it sometimes... I mean we can't expect a bunch of med school applicants to be all zen about it, right?

Don't email - no one has received LOR complete emails, even those of us with the request from 7/1. I suppose they're not sending them this year.

The first 'batch' of LOR were 01. The next (because Mayo does have a tendency to do things in batches) was a few days later.

When invites/rejections/LORs come out, please post when you submitted and were complete, and when you received an LOR request. This will make easy reference both this cycle and for people looking back at us next cycle. If we want, we could even do a list and have each person who responds just add on to the list. I'd help keep it organized, if that's something we want to do.
