Sadly, I'm still waiting for AMCAS to verify my primary. This means that Mayo hasn't even *seen* my application yet 🙁

My primary was submitted 3 weeks ago, so it could take up to 3 more weeks before it is even verified...at which point we're awful close to the mid-December deadline of when interviews stop at Mayo.

If it wasn't for having to finish up a very demanding grad school program in May, I could have gotten this application in earlier. Bummer. 🙁

My application was submitted September 30th and was processed October 24th. My fee for Mayo was received by the 10/25 (I have FAP, so it was automatically processed). Letter of reference request was sent on 10/26 and received on 10/27. No interview invite yet, still hopeful to get one in this last batch. I think that you still have a chance. They seem to review files a lot faster towards the end. I assume they want to see all the applicants, even if they applied a little late. Keep your hopes up!

Is it safe to assume that the second round of acceptances went out this afternoon? I saw one SDN'r say he/she got the call, but haven't seen any more about it... Anyone know anything from the admissions office?

I personally know of two people who got the call (neither of which was me 😉), so the acceptances definitely went out.

Did anyone receive an acceptance this time after being put on hold 2 weeks ago?

Haha, while you guys have your fingers crossed for interview invites, I'm sitting here still wondering when my LOR request/rejection is going to arrive...:ninja:

You torture me, Mayo. TORTURE.

Interviews invites should be coming out tonight. Lets see how it goes! Good luck everyone.

Really? How can you be sure? Not doubting, just wanting more info. Because I'm a neurotic SDNer... 😳

How do we know they are coming out tonight? I heard at "at least a week" last week and 2-3 weeks this week. Does the committee meet today?

Ahh I don't mean to sound like I was certain. And the thing is since it's this late in the game, the pattern might be different. But just from my personal scan of this forum and past forums, it seemed that committee for interview invitation meet on thursdays and then invites are usually sent out at like 2-3 AM. I'm at least hopeful that at least some of us will hear something tonight, whether it is an invite or an rejection.

Thanks. I will celebrate for sure 😀

How is it going for you?

It is going good so far. I am still anxiously awaiting news from Mayo after having an interview there. Such an awesome institution.

Despite the anxiety of wishing for a mayo acceptance, I am excited that I have been accepted at other schools and thus will actually be a medical student come next fall. Thanks for asking and hopefully we'll be future classmates at MMS!

Sorry if this has been answered, but I'm getting mixed up with all the guesstimates about when Mayo will make another move. After getting a "Ranked" email, when will a determination (hold or acceptance) go out?

I didn't hear anything about interviews last night, guess I was wrong. Did anyone else hear anything?

If I recall correctly, the trend goes something like this:

Decisions are released every two weeks (with new rankings taking place during the week between decisions).

I could be wrong. Snuke will know.

Your faith in me is amusing, but well-placed in this instance.

The ranking committee meets every week, typically on Tuesday, and releases ranked emails later that week.

The acceptance committee is made up of more clinicians, so their day to meet is not fixed, but they do meet every two weeks. Wisco mentioned the possibility that it could be three weeks this time, and I assume that as we get closer to that new date in two weeks, we will confirm if it is two or three.

good for you c3ev, hopefully we can be classmates. I'll keep my fingers crossed on your behalf 🙂

No word. LOR Request & received last week.

Nope I didn't hear anything last night either. No interview invite or rejection email. I feel that the news has to becoming soon.

I guess next week will be the week.

So, based on last year's thread, there is little chance of status change from hold until March, then it's either waitlist or rejected. I know our file gets reviewed every time the committee meets until all spots are offered, but it doesn't look like there was much movement last year for those on hold until the spring. Anybody got any info to the contrary?

You are far from done. You are on hold (you aren't even technically waitlisted yet). That said, a good portion of my class came in off of the wait list. Just keep your chin up and your fingers crossed, but know that you'll be at Mayo or another awesome school come July/August. Consider this to be your last time of freedom - I recommend not worrying compulsively about committee meetings - instead, enjoy time with your family, friends, etc and do the things you love. Medical school is great but very busy and you'll miss out on some of the comforts you currently take for granted (as listed in the last sentence). Enjoy your life, STAT!

so we are done? 🙁

How many people are in an interview group?

Thanks Nerday, that's the kind of perspective I needed 🙂 I'm bummed about being placed on hold, but I also know I don't have to go to Mayo to become a caring, patient-centered doctor (which of course does nothing to decrease my love for Mayo)

Congrats on the invite!
Do you mind sharing your stats?

3.83c, 30-32, strong ECs.

How have people been getting to the airport (Rochester) after the interview? Is there a particular shuttle service I should use?

Did anyone receive a ranked email today? Are they supposed to rank on Tuesdays only?

Yea, only rank on Tuesday. I received my rank email last Wednesday morning. They should have a appointment meeting next week! I'm excited but scared🙂

still no news of interview. I think they are sending out rejection/invites without a set pattern now, just by what I've seen on this forum...

I think I remember them saying on interview day that its likely we'll get a decision two weeks after getting ranked... can anyone confirm/deny this?

Hi there everyone,

First off, let me say that I wish everyone the best of luck with their pending applications at Mayo. I know many of us have our hearts set on spending the next 4 years in Rochester, MN.

Secondly, I'm wondering if there are any other folks out there who have submitted their applications later on in the cycle...by 'later on' I mean sometime during the month of October. I was busy wrapping-up with grad school until June...at which time I then began studying for the MCAT, ramping up volunteer hours, and preparing my primary application. Since this process took a while, it ended up that I wasn't able to submit my application until a few days before the deadline. My primary is still awaiting verification and I'm left wondering if there is any hope that I might stand a chance at an interview.

Just curious if anyone else is in the same boat and might have more information on how Mayo handles applications that are submitted late in the cycle. My hope is that they are still reviewed and not automatically tossed out because interview slots have already been filled.

Again, best wishes to everyone. Also, I am a Minnesota native, so if anyone has concerns/questions about the harsh winters, the Twin Cities, etc. feel free to ask & I am happy to answer.
Hi MPLS medical,

I'm in a similar boat to you. Applied in mid-October and am waiting to see what happens next! So far all Mayo has done is ask me for money. 😉

Been about 5 weeks since LORs were marked as complete...I'm not holding my breath for an interview.

I was told that we can receive a decision after we are ranked following the next committee meeting. So I think it just depends on the proximity of your interview to the next committee meeting. Next tuesday is the next time they are getting together for ranking, and I remember the lady saying it would be about 3 weeks b4 my interview group would hear back. Although my student host told me that he received a call of acceptance the following Monday after his interview...

Ranked! 🙂 I hope I am reviewed during next weeks meeting. :xf:

Dear Mayo,

I have made a pact with the devil for admission to your school. I agreed to have no other condiments besides Mayo for the duration of my professional career. No ketchup, spicy mayo, mustard, dijon mustard, relish, chipotle sauce, sweet onion, and grey poupon.

I also sold him my sold, but this is minor sacrifice compared to the no condiment clause.

In summary, I am interested in Mayo Medical School and would like to attend.

Best,
Whitewashed

I sent in the fee at the beginning of September, got the LOR request right after that. Unfortunately, my school's committee didn't send the letters to AMCAS until middle of Oct, and I got the LOR received email 10/18.

Still waiting to hear anything else... what's the typical time frame for II after LOR received email? (I know not everyone got one of those...) Am I out of the running for an interview, since it seems like they're wrapping up?
