I switched phone numbers with my mother after submitting my AMCAS. I don't really want to bother with re-submitting with updated contact info, but the week of 10/15, I'm carrying around my phone AND hers...just in case. To be fair, she doesn't use her phone at all anyway, but still... 😛

I'd absolutely do the same thing. Why risk having the updated contact info arrive late/not at all?

From what I understand, the first interviewer gives us a score and the second one defends our application to the committee. Does anyone have anymore info on what the second interviewer does?

The times/order of your interviews are based on when the interviewers are available (docs and med students have busy schedules), not on some heirarchy. Both are equally important. Just take your interviews seriously and be yourself .The rest will figure itself out 🙂 Also, as a 2nd year student, I can still say: This school is spectacular. Best of luck!

I have a strong relationship with Mayo, having been a patient and a research intern there, which is evident in my application. I have also been doing well this cycle with 11 interview invites, several at top 20 schools. I know that Mayo is one of the most selective schools in the country and that my chances (like anyone else's) of getting in are extremely low, but I'm disappointed that I haven't received an LOR request. Especially because I think my LOR were one of the strongest parts of my application.

Do you guys think it would be alright to e-mail or call the admissions office and ask about my application status?

I didn't see anything about 3 weeks in the LOR request or LOR received... Where did it say 3 weeks for review?

It said it would take up to three weeks in the LOR received email, right above sincerely. Something along the lines of "you will be notified as soon as the review is completed...the review can take up to three weeks." Am I the only one 😕?

Maybe Mayo is trying to mess with us... I save all the emails I get from schools so I still have mine and it doesn't give a timeline: just, you will be notified when your review is complete. I don't know if the different wording means anything. If anything, it probably isn't a good sign for me🙁
Oh well, the way I see it, we just have to wait a little longer. Mayo is one of the few schools that (IMHO) respects applicants by sending timely decisions. We will hear from them soon...

I am asking because a friend of mine goes to Mayo, and she said that at the end of one of her interviews, the doctor basically said "you have nothing to worry about"... so I was wondering if that is a relatively common response or if she just dominated the interview

So I'm flying to Minnesota tomorrow from the northeast. I'm actually from Florida so I was really worried about the weather at Mayo so I have my sweaters and winter coat, gloves, scarf (it was 40ish when I was in NY for an interview a couple of days ago and needed them).
Come to find out, the temp tomorrow is a high of 83 and a high of 77 on interview day...how crazy and not representative is that?? If I get in, I'm gonna have to come back for a visit in the real winter to make sure I can tolerate it haha
For those who have gone, is there something available the night before to meet other students/interviewers? I'm staying with a student host.

I feel like that's really rare... typically they don't give any indication of whether or not they think you'll get accepted... right?

If what the poster said was true, it is obvious that it was just what it appears - something said [likely at the end of the interview] casually by the interviewer.

So in that sense, it is probably rare - unless every applicant has that same interviewer and ends the session by asking some line of "how they did/will they get in?"

My understanding is that there is a vote based off your app, your interview, your diversity, ect. ect. So even if the Dr. loved this particular student but others on the committee did not, they are still open to not get selected.

I try not to think about these things because they are out of our control, and I am happy my interviewer did not say that to me. If they did and I was put on hold or rejected, I would cry many tears.

Many, many tears, and I agree with you. It'd be better to not know, than to get false hopes and have them dashed. We can't do anything anymore, just play the waiting game some more.

I want this school so bad.

My interview is later on this month. I can only pray to be accepted by one of the medical schools I have had the privilege or will have the privilege to interview at.

I try to stay as unattached to a single school as possible to minimize the damage of a rejection...but it is extremely hard to with exceptional schools such as Johns Hopkins, Keck, and Mayo. I hope at least one of these schools does not break my heart.

I LOVED the school. I also liked my interviewer. I had good vibes/indications from the interviewer as I shook the hand (the to avoid gender description). Second interviewer showed no/0 emotion, but i liked my answers, so i hope she did too!
