Anyone on pre-interview hold hear something? By this time last year they began to re-evaluate pre-interview holders. I wanna be re-evaluated! loll

Orientation for COM is 8/9 & 8/10
MS1 starts on 8/13

I believe if you take the summer anatomy and do the orientation in June, you don't have to do the orientation in August. I'm not sure when the white coat ceremony will be. It probably will be on 8/8 for COM i guess.

urgh... it sucks that next year is the first year COM will start school in early august instead of late august. There's gone my vacation plan.

Hey! I interviewed on September 20th, and the whitecoat ceremony for the incoming year was a day or something before I interviewed. So the whitecoat is held sometime in september 🙂 ... Unless they change that next year.

The white coat ceremony for 2011 was on 8/24 (it's on their website). It's also called the move in day (for ppl who stay in the dorm). Orientation was on 8/25 and 8/26. So, I deduced that the white coat ceremony is the day before orientation...
 
Hey, I have a question for you guys. When do you think we have to fill out the housing application? I'm deciding whether or not I want to live on campus.
 
I have been told by the admissions office that people on pre-interview hold will be reviewed in the next two weeks

I'm interviewing tomorrow too!! But coming from Rochester.
 
at this point, are we just interviewing for a spot on the waiting list?
 
I think everyone that will hear back now will be candidates that were placed on hold. Given that, I think that unless you interview and do a phenomenal job you are essentially interviewing to try and be placed on the top of the waitlist...so yeah basically applying for the waitlist.

I was on hold for a while, but I got rejected today - true.

I certainly hope this is not the case. My interview is in early Feb and I am shooting for direct admission.
 
Hello all,

I need your advice. I have an interview at SUNY upstate but on looking at some of their data on MSAR, I saw that they interviewed 160 oos applicants but only 13 marticulated! This number bothers me! It seems as if they don't accept that much oos applicant. So here are my questions- how many oos people does this school accept? Should i go to the interview as it seems like my chance is so slim due to my residency status (oos) here. And no, I don't have any acceptances yet but I'm starting to run low on interview funds and I have to ration between schools. I would appreciate ur advise. Thanks in advance. 🙂
 
At this time of the cycle and still without an acceptance, I think you should go to every interview that you have. Borrow money from friends or relatives if you need to, then get a job waiting table or whatever to pay it off. Even if your chance is slim at upstate, it's still a chance. If their slots are all full, they wouldn't invite you for an interview.

👍 They are giving you a chance. Without an acceptance it would be foolish for you not to interview.
 
Thank you both for your advise! It's what I needed to hear. I am very excited about this school. Just crazy doubts running through my head. This app season has been crazy! Wish me luck.

Hey Pinacolada,

I wouldn't worry too much. According to US News and World Report they interviewed about 174 oos one year, and accepted 77 of them. That's 44%! Not such bad odds. I think not many of those accepted matriculate because it is quite expensive to go as an oos student. 48 grand instead of 27 for IS.

(Also, I'm OOS and was accepted, so there's always hope). I think the really tough part if you're OOS is getting to the interview. I think you should go!

I've been on hold since August and have yet to receive a rejection. I hope this means there's a chance of me getting an interview!
 
For those of you who are curious about the daily class schedule, there is a web page available that I used a great deal during the 1st two years. It has not been updated for the class entering fall 2012 but you can get an idea of how things have gone in past years. Other than start dates, I don't think much will change but don't hold me to it. Here is the link:

Just click on MS1. There is also a PDF available on this page for the course selection book so you can see what kind of electives await you during the clinical years.

Accepted Friday! Interviewed 11/22, IS. I'm so excited, it's my first acceptance.

I guess I should add to the interview page debate. My interview page didn't disappear until the day I was accepted. I checked Thursday night and got the email Friday morning.

I was put on hold in August and got an II yesterday! Hope lives.

Anyone know anything about the Binghamton campus? I'm debating whether or not to go visit.
 
I was accepted in November and today I withdrew my acceptance.

Hope this opens a spot. I'm rooting for all of you!
 
Interviewed 8 weeks ago today. Still no word. My message still had not disappeared.

Anyone else in the same or similar boat?

Just got an email about Summer Anatomy. The class will run from 6/11 to 8/3. Fall semester starts on 8/13. Only 10 days break in between 🙁
 
Interviewed on 1/11. message about invitation for interview has not disappeared yet. does anyone have any insight into this? 😕

I would do summer anatomy. The rest of your year will be so cush without the worst subject of medical school lingering to piss you off.

My biznass: cGPA: 3.6, sGPA: 3.4, top tier school, MCAT >30, all sorts of weird EC's, currently doing research

It's gonna be a Long Wait. I emailed them a question 3 weeks ago, and still waiting for a reply.
 
Yikes, 10 weeks now and "congratulations on your interview" message still hasn't disappeared!
