not what i asked

was letting you know i did not interview on those later dates; maybe it goes in order of interview date. included info re-email to suggest that perhaps acceptances are still being offered. sdn is a pretty small sample size.

When is someone going to make the C/O 2016 facebook group!?

😉👍 gotcha.

So it's looking like they haven't made calls yet to interviewees from the last week of January (at least amongst those who post on SDN)...?

Honestly I think the calls go out randomly and not based on interview date. Like someone from the first week got a call Monday around 1 and I got a call Tuesday around 1 and had the same interview date... Lol I guess we'll see?

For those who have been interviewed, was there any change for you on the secondary application website when you got the invite?

Yes, the main page changes to a congratulatory message + info about the interview.

I think they only interview through March. I get the impression that they're done inviting for interview. Hopefully, I'm wrong because I'm in the same spot as you.

You could be right, but I looked at some threads from previous years and the last interviews were consistently given out the second week of March. Also, it seems like their interview invites go out at the end of the month, around the 25th ish. The only time I've noticed an exception is in November, which I assume is because of Thanksgiving. I'm over-analyzing I'm sure, but I don't think it's time to totally give up hope yet!

I said this a page or two ago but when I checked on Monday there were still 4 interview dates (spanning 2 weeks) at the end of March that were open. So good luck! There's still a chance!

Has anyone received a rejection yet? Or have those emails not been sent out yet?

"Dear Tufts,

WTF???????!!!!!!!!111

Sincerely,
XXXXXX XXXX
AMCAS ID: XXXXXXXX"

I'll let y'all know what they say.

Haha I want to send a similar email but will wait to hear what they say to you hahaha. Seriously it's been 2.5 weeks and the calls already went out. What are they waiting for? Trying to make my misery more prolonged?

Just for everyone's info, acceptance emails haven't been sent either (at least I haven't gotten mine) so I guess they haven't sent the January emails yet.

I just called the admissions office and they said that letters (emails?) are going out today

When they say that emails are going out, does that mean only acceptance/deferral emails or does that include rejection emails too? I'm just gonna consider it a silent rejection at this point.

We are talking about post-interview email decisions

You were wait listed, not deferred?

I interviewed at the school. They reviewed my complete application afterwards. And they decided they would not reject me and not accept me, but rather they will hold out because they hope they can get somebody better.

Deferred, waitlist, "Still Under Consideration", what really is the difference here? My favorite is the S.U.C. status, like when you get an email that says "Dear Applicant, you are SUC". One thing is for sure, when you get an email that says "you are not on a waitlist", you are on a waitlist; you are on a list of applicants waiting to be either accepted or rejected.

For people still waiting for IIs (myself included), their website says they interview through March (http://www.tufts.edu/med/admissions/md/howtoapply/interviews.html) so we don't have to speculate on that. I'm wondering if anyone has any more solid info on whether the last invites have gone out? Otherwise I may have to go with Ambidextrous' data here, and assume that they last invites are going to be going out next week, unless they're already done sending them out...

This actually isn't necessarily true... At tufts if you are deferred they bring your file back up and each adcom meeting and review it again. If your file is more favorable than the people who interviewed or if you've improved and updated them (MCAT, grades, shadowing, published, etc.) then they may accept you then. So you should definitely update them if you have anything important to show them!!

On the other hand if you are waitlisted at other schools you may not be considered again till after May 15.

I can't remember whether I read it on this board or heard it on my interview day...but I want to say that the last IIs were/are sent out in mid-March. For what it's worth, March 8, 20, 22, 27 and 29 are all still listed as open for interviews.

While this may be true, I havn't heard of anyone actually getting accepted after deferred until much later, have there been any cases of someone getting deferred originally and then accepted many months later before April/may?

I actually know someone who interviewed in December and was deferred in January, updated the adcom with fall grades, and was accepted this round of acceptances (February acceptances)

that gives me hope! I interviewed in November and deferred in December. I have sent them updates, including a recommendation letter from another doctor I shadowed. Keeping my fingers crossed!
From the interaction I have had with tufts, it seems like they look at deferred files towards the end of every month. so if you have updates, best submit it towards the beginning of the month and that might work in your favor to accept you!
Good luck to all of us who are waiting! 🙂

does anyone know how the grading works the first two years?? is it pass/fail?

So I tried to create the group and it won't let me unless I add someone else to it, haha. So if one of you guys can PM me your name/link to your facebook I can make the group and add one of you guys!

Thanks!

Has anyone else tried calling the admissions office? Everytime I do it always says they're unavailable. I want to know when the last interview invites will be sent out this year. I feel like they at least owe us that information.

I would like to know that as well.

I think their front desk lady is not there today (at least she wasn't when i went in to drop off my letter) and they are actually not in the office most days (except maybe Tuesday and Thursday). I'm guessing last invites will go out mid-march.

You could try to contact Emily Condon (main assistant in charge below Dean Neumeyer). Her email is [email protected] and her phone number is 617-636-6571. Not sure if these are right I found it on a random page on Tufts' website.

Yes this is the number I have been calling to interact with them. Ask for Emily Condon...

I've gotten through to that number several times- sometimes it's voicemail but keep trying and you'll get a real person. I got through to someone last Friday morning.

If you do find out, please post here! I'm curious about this too, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

called today....very short with me but basically said interview invites can potentially go out until the end of march. If you haven't received one by then, an email will be sent to close your application.....

On another note, How receptive is Tufts to a update letter pre interview. I started a new internship 4 months ago and my GPA has gone up after fall quarter. Should I let them know? Does it even matter?

Thanks for the info. Appreciate you taking one for the team 😛

I think someone about 3-4 pages ago sent them an update letter and got an II 1-2 weeks letter. I am not sure how effective that letter was, but it doesnt hurt!

Not sure if my situation was just a coincidence or if it actually helped, but I sent an update letter to the admissions email and had my fall grade report sent and received an interview a couple weeks later. Give it a shot!

Over on the Mount Sinai thread that kind of thing seems to have happened a lot, definitely more than chance. Maybe Tufts does it too! But then again, I sent an update to both schools on the same day in January and still haven't heard from Tufts.
