Sure. They'll probably buy that.

Email admissions, explain that you made a mistake, and include your speeding ticket information in the email, with a short explanation. So long as they don't think you are trying to hide anything, you should be ok. If you get caught later with tickets you didn't admit to, you may very well have an acceptance revoked.

I agree. The admissions office here is very understanding, and anything you ask to be put in your file usually gets in there. So send them an email with your ticket info and ask them to include it in your file...you can tell them the reason too...whatever you would want the committee to read. But if you get caught withholding anything from your app that is relevant, that's an easy reason to reject you (and even have an acceptance revoked). Even if it's one ticket, just the simple act of withholding it looks bad.

Do NOT freak out about the speeding thing...everybody speeds, and lots of people get caught (including committee members, deans, faculty, etc). If you have 1 or 2...even 3 over a large span of time, nobody will care! More than that in a short period of time, a few eyebrows will probably be raised since you should've learned your lesson (or bought a radar detector). They're looking for a pattern of recklessness, dangerous behavior, or repeated mistakes that are easily avoided.

Hey is anyone else having alot of trouble with the application right now? when i'm doing it, Have you graduated from college, if yes please briefly describe your major activities since you received your college degree and your plans for this year. I get stuck here, everytime i press yes, it just refreshes and goes back to the no button...this is so frustrating...

I had the same problem so I emailed tech support and they solved it!

I had this same problem and I called in. They had me email [email protected], the tech support and they fixed the problem for me.

Interview Invite! Complete 7/27, Invite 8/23

Guess I'll have to figure out this MMI business.

interview invite less than an hour after I was verified! for 9/26, OOS but I live in NKY which is almost IS status. the questions you have to answer just to schedule an interview are way more involved than the secondary was! crazy 😀 not complaining though...

I go to Cincinnati, their system has been shaky the past few days because of a campus wide power outage last week. Knocked out email for a couple days and some things are still not quite right. Probably explains some of the issues you all have been having

Dang . . . Complete 6/30, normal stats, my dad graduated from UC, and still no invite yet. Guess they don't like me. Or they really take it seriously if you're from the other side of the river.

Okay but not great GPA, high MCAT, OOS. Sorry...I'm trying to not be too specific at this point in the cycle.

thats totally understandable, im doing the same thing - thank you and good luck!

Complete since 7/25...still nothing...looks like I may not get any OOS love...

Same. Complete 6/30, IS, Lab work at the University.
im as neurotic as the next SDNer but seriously guys calm down...only a few people (at least on SDN) have gotten invites...there are still plenty more to go around! and its not even September! now if its January and u still don't have an invite you can panic!

This is true.... but I want to go to there

Any more invites?
Also, does anyone know this one: I got my new MCAT score on August 30th. How/When will they review/send an email? I was complete with secondary on July 14th! Thanks.

Congrats on your awesome MCAT score!

I found out I was complete via my online status on their status website. They sent me one incomplete email because my letters hadn't arrived, but I never got a complete e-mail.

Also: I am not sure if this completely answers your question!

Hey, fellow MSTP applicants, what's up with no word limit on our essays? The essays both have character count boxes; but I don't see word limits anywhere. Anyone else weirded-out by this? Or am I the only neurotic one...?

Just in case they weren't posted earlier, here they are:

"Tell us about your research projects."

"Tell us about your qualifications as a candidate for the MD/PhD program, your future research interests, and your motivation for entering such a program."

Still hoping for an interview . . . So as for late interviews, does anyone know of a current student who interviewed quiet late? Two rejections and two interviews so far and I'm starting to give up hope on these schools I haven't heard from at all . . .

Don't worry - it sounds like they haven't sent out many invites yet. And it's still early September....not late by any means.

Are you serious? There are people out here with 0 interviews and multiple rejections.

Hey everyone, i'm a current second year here at UCCOM. I'll check in on the thread from time to time so feel free to ask any questions you're wondering about.

A couple of quick points - Cincinnati interviews all the way into March/April (I forget which) and I know plenty of people here that had interviews at that time. Don't panic. As for the MMI, I rate for it so I can't give you specific advice, but the best thing I can tell you is to relax, be yourself, act professionally, and have some fun with it. I loved my interview and I love being on the other side too.

One last thing - I'm guessing the Admissions Office mentioned this somewhere but this year we do have a program where you can stay with med students as opposed to staying in a hotel. So don't hesitate to use it and save some dolla dolla bills.

I received an interview invite about a week ago, had to reschedule it, and now I'm confirmed for the 12th of September. This is my first invite! :xf:

Anyways, I want to throw out there that I attend UC right now as an undergraduate and live near the campus. If anybody is in need, they can stay at my place and I would also be able to give a ride from and to the airport.

I see there is a program for staying with a current medical student and would recommend using that, but I'm available if push comes to shove.

Pertinent info: I'm male, have a cat (that will be sequestered in my room if need be), have reliable transportation, know the area well enough, and have a couch to sleep on with all appropriate accoutrements.

Just PM me and I will get back to you ASAP. I can do future interview dates also, depending on school/work/vacation schedule.

Interview, 9/12. In state.

Anyone know what sorts of questions to expect in the MMI...?

For the people who have interviews and are staying with student host: Does anyone know if I was just supposed to email directly the student hosts on the list admissions gave me, or should I give admissions my preferences and they'll match me with a host?

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to contact the host directly.

i haven't been to an MMI yet but i've seen/done practice ones and talked to people who've done MMIs. it seems like you will definitely get some acting scenarios, some ethics questions, and probably some "standard" questions

How specific are were supposed to be about the speeding ticket violations question on the secondary? I just cant even remember how fast I was going or where I was etc. Do we need incredibly specific about these violations? Or just in general and the year I was cited?

are you serious? You've already gotten 2 interviews this early, and you're complaining that you don't have more?? tons of applicants go through the entire cycle without even a single interview from any school, and you're talking about giving up hope b/c you only have 2. . . .

if anyone needs a place to stay the night before an interview, I work across the street from the med school building and have an extra bed in my apartment... just pm me

you shouldn't give up hope on any schools yet. it is still WAYYYYYYY too early for that. as an FYI, i'm a current M-1 at UCCOM and interviewed in january. so don't give up hope guys!!

Is there a way to check my status on the Cincinnati website? I can see that I've submitted a secondary, but I couldn't seem to find any additional info on whether I'm "complete" "pending" "on hold" "rejected" etc.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Or are all status updates done via e-mail?

Thank you!

You can check your status on this page: https://comdo-wcnlb.uc.edu/MedOneStop/CommonFiles/login.aspx

You should get an email if you receive an invite. But it should show whether or not you are complete on that status check site.

When does the interview usually end? I am trying to plan my travel. Thanks!

That is longer than any other interview I had. Next day I have interview at Loyola and I think it is about 5 and half drive. Oh well. It should be okay.

Hey guys. I'm a second year at UC. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! It's an amazing school. I feel so prepared (for boards, the future, etc.). I love my classmates. I love the gorgeous school building. Everything about it is great! It's a very strong school academically and also has a great support system. There's amazing opportunities for research, tons of clinical experience from the first week of school, strong programs for abroad travel, etc. I'm sure that when you come to interview, you'll absolutely fall in love. Be sure to talk to some of the current students while you're here.

So anyway... here's why I felt the need to post:
I want to let you know that it's suuuuuper early in the admissions process here. It's a fact that the majority of applicants haven't heard anything at all. Do NOT let people who post on here freak you out when they say they've received interview invites or acceptances already.

You have to remember that there is a bias in posting on SDN...the people who have great stats and a million interviews don't mind publicizing it, while the majority of people sit back and spectate, crying to themselves thinking all hope is lost in SEPTEMBER! Even the annoying whiny people who are like "i only have a 32 and a 3.6gpa, i'm never gonna get in"...oh please! That's above the national average. Chances are, unless they're completely socially inept, they're getting in somewhere. If those people were really worried, they probably wouldn't post their stats so openly...they just want validation.

Med students love to freak each other out...don't fall for it. It's probably in your best interest, for sanity, not to be on SDN while applying. I promise that when you're actually in med school, reading the applicant threads, you'll see how ridiculous people really are.

You guys are all so intelligent and it's such an accomplishment to have made it this far. Believe in yourself! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL!!! 🙂
