California here, nothing as well.
Atlanta checking in:
Nothing on this side either...
The 10%s til the end!
Lol it feels like I know all of you even though we haven't met..
What have you guys decided on doing next.. I'm still trying to go into health law... Maybe my masters first though in epi..
Anyone else?
Well that's impressive that you received another call back after turning them down the first time. Did you have to make the same decision for when they called you back today?I received a call from a PHAP representative on Monday, with an offer in Los Angeles; however, I had to turn the offer down because they required that I own a car, which I don't. I was told that I would be put at the bottom of the list.
I received a call today from another representative offering me a position in the east coast.
Don't give up hope, anything can happen.

Did anyone happen to have an interviewer mention anything about the non-compete status that you would gain after completing PHAP? My interviewer said that it was a valuable benefit, but I don't know much about it.
I'm also from Los Angeles and got my call on Monday. Immediately after that, they updated my FMS profile and I had to fill out more information on there within 24 hrs. Let's hope they're not done calling everyone. Good luck!
Hey, I'm from Florida and haven't heard anything yet. *sigh* Was anybody stationed in FL?
It seems that everybody who was chosen has been relocated to a different state. I stated in my app that I cannot relocate out of Florida (due to certain reasons) so I wonder if that hurt me a lot? Or, I don't know if they offer you a position anyway even if it isn't in a state you indicated. Perhaps that's the case for certain people here.
Congrats to those who heard, hoping that more hear soon to minimize the stress! Did anyone else have trouble reading their acceptance letter? Mine won't load.
The email said to click accept on the FMS website but I didn't have to click accept, just fill out more information. The top said "We have recorded your response to the appointment letter. If you wish to change your response, please contact the PHAP at (404)-498-0030. " However, I did tell them on the phone that I accepted.
Was this the same for you?
After you fill out the information there was a general submit button at the bottom. Click that and then you will receive an e-mail confirming the submission of the onboarding information.
Okay, thats what I did. I was just worried because the Onboarding information email said:
"Thank you for submitting your travel packet information. You will be contacted in July to set up your travel arrangements through PHAP. If you have any questions, e-mail the PHAP Team at [email protected]."
Is this what your onboarding information email said?
Just wanting to make sure! haha
I read that some candidates were offered positions more than once?....I remember my interviewer saying that offers were final/ non-negotiable.
....I never heard anything about being offered multiple opportunities... and the "being put at the bottom of the list" scenario after declining once.. From what I understood, once you decline, you were removed from candidacy.?
Help/thoughts?
What i was told was if i declined the location/site (not the program), i would be put onto the bottom of the wait list pool and there would be no guarantee that i would be offered another location/site. Based off my assumption there is a pool of final applicants that are being offered. If they decline site, they go back into pool for a chance at another site. So for 133 spots, maybe like 150-200 final pool in case some decline offer and they go down the list while trying to fill spots. Again, that's just my opinion/assumption so take it with a grain of salt.
For those accepted to this years phap class, can one of you ask to see if the class has been finalized yet, if calls are still being made and what criteria they used for selection.
It'd be nice to have some legitimate closure.
Also,

Also are any of you Atlanta residents?
It'd be nice to grab lunch or something...
I was an Emory student for undergrad so I know the CDC area quite well and know a lot of good places to eat/ relax.
Let me know! Message me if you like.🙂

Hi!
I've been following this thread religiously (but silently) from the beginning! I was accepted and placed in New Orleans so I'll be moving there from NYC. I was wondering if anyone else was placed there or knows anyone there? I'd like to find a roommate ☺
I also wanted to thank everyone- this thread has been such an important place of support and hope through this process. I wish you all luck!
I actually JUST submitted this info because I didn't see the submit button at the bottom of the screen. I know you had 24 hours to accept, but this info came after accepting the position, right? I should still be good?
Hi, did anyone else get an error message on the application website when trying to accept? And when I call/email PHAP I've gotten no response...
I did get an error while trying to accept the offer; it was Thursday evening PST so the PHAP office was already closed. I immediately emailed both the PHAP general mailbox and the person who made my selection phone call. I also followed up with a phone message the Friday morning as soon as the office opened. I did get an email back on Friday: the issue was being referred over to the FMS administrators. I assume that they are still working on it.
Welcome to the world of glitchy government software🙂 The problems usually get resolved, but sometimes it takes a while.
Good to know I'm not the only one 🙂 I also didn't get my info email yet, and I would like to start finding an apartment! Was anyone else placed in LA? Maybe we could be roommates?
For the people who got positions in Los Angeles, I recommend living in Koreatown: cheap rents and fairly centrally located. You can get similar or slightly cheaper rents in the San Fernando Valley, but the commute to any Los Angeles County location that isn't in the Valley will be brutal.
Getting an apartment in LA isn't too difficult. It's not like NYC where there are 100 applicants for every new rental.
For those (including myself) who have not been selected yet and updated on their selection process, this may give you a sliver of hope... I contacted PHAP today inquiring if CDC finished the selection process for PHAP's associates last week or if they are still making offers and the PHAP Team said they are still in the selection process. A straight-forward answer with no other comments on when they will be finished, but at least we know we may have the possibility of hearing something this week.Hey, I'll be in Atlanta on Tuesday. I return from overseas. If you're game for dinner, my best friend and I wouldn't mind giving you a holler.
About what you said, your statement has a lot of truth. Closure is needed desperately for many of us. What's puzzling is how everything turned out. Day 5 of selection week and still hundreds of people are still stressing themselves out because they have not been updated on their status. While not updating the masses, the PHAP has gone as far as to send travel and relocation arrangements to those selected. Even further, they have also been in communication for those lucky enough to have been updated, to make multiple offers to candidates that have rejected placements. It clearly stated that those selected must be willing to relocate wherever is needed, right? And that failure to do so would result in them being placed at the bottom of the list, right? Is this an inaccuracy or is the PHAP so desperate for candidates that they must negotiate with those who decline offers to fill spaces available? It's not like they have 300 qualified people ready to accept an offer, right? No, they have 500 people ready to be placed but they have not even BOTHERED to update their application status.
I think we forget that the CDC/PHAP is a 'government' agency. If Congress's approval ratings and the current scandals of other Federal agencies do not tell you something about the nature of how they operate, then I don't know what will. Such agencies are notorious for their mysterious ways of recruiting and hiring individuals. Maybe it's the sheer volume of applicants that has made the process tedious but why interview 500 (overly qualified people) for 133 spots? I found it strange that they would choose to interview that many candidates but use an informal interview technique to grade their interviews. Everyone was asked the same questions, yet the questions were not rigorous, some did not record information (my interview was informally over the phone) - so who is to say that they did not already have preselected candidates? Who is to say that did not heavily select from within- since many of the people here offered places already had Fed jobs and or Federal experience?
To me, it all seems a bit disjointed. If they were going to extend the notification date, then why not mass email every saying so? Why not make the interview process transparent? Why not provide us information telling us where we lost points or could have done better? Why not update the system rejecting every candidate except the ones selected? Why so much disorganization for a world class opportunity with the worlds # 1 public health agency? Why have 5 staff members vet 4,400 applicants when you need 10? Why extend the deadline to encourage such as a number of applicants, if you are unequipped to treat them with dignity, handle their applications in a timely manner - when a simple, sorry you were not selected would do? It seems to me this is all a game. The ones selected were selected pre statement of purpose. Too bad we have all had to wait around to find it out. 😡
for those who havent received a call, keep your head up! i just got an offer about 30 minutes ago! is anyone else going to cali???
I was placed in LA! Are you in LA as well?

Hey everyone,
I've been placed in the Philadelphia area! I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of the neighborhoods in the city? I'm looking for an apartment, and I'm trying to figure out my budget since it's going be tight the first year of the fellowship.
Thanks!
