I completely agree with this! It depends on what you're good at.
Thanks. I do appreciate my job, but I feel like I will rather quit my job and spend whatever little savings I have to go to these interviews than stay employed and not be able to attend the interviews. The interviews didn't come easy, and I'm certainly not passing up on them! But I really hope it will not come to that
Yep, a coworker. My biggest boss is the only MD in the unit, so she understands me better than anybody. But the said coworker can sure make a big fuss
😀
Congrats! I'm at 4 IIs as well, and, as you can see, I fully understand your feelings about scheduling time off.
Acceptance to any of these 4 schools is, of course, by no means guaranteed, so I will try to go to as many interviews as I can if I get any more IIs, I may just schedule them later in the cycle and space them more. I'm incredibly lucky that these 4 schools are my top favorites, I would be deliriously happy to attend any one of them (though I do prefer one over others
😉), so I was anxious to schedule these interviews ASAP.
This sucks
🙁 And I guess it teaches us not to have our hearts set on particular schools, but I still can't help but have a favorite
🙂
On the other hand, from what I've gathered from reading SDN and MDapps, it's not that rare that people change their opinions about schools, coming into an application with certain favorites and changing their minds as the cycle goes.
In any case, I wish you to get into a school you will be happy at! From what I remember
😉, you have a great app, you will get into some nice schools.
🙁 My first communication from any medical school, besides any secondary-related communications, was a rejection, which was quite discouraging. But pretty soon after that my first II arrived
🙂
It has been said multiple times that it's still early in the cycle, so assuming you applied to more than 2 schools you're still on!
I had a 4 week "radio silence" after my first 2 IIs and I was sure I got passed over by several schools, including my top choice, - until I got 2 IIs, including the top choice school. I guess the conclusion is, this process is so complex and unpredictable, you just never know. Many people on SND say that it's not over till it's over, and it seems to be true.
Hey, don't offend Bio majors! - or any other science major for that matter. People can have diverse interests, talents and experiences no matter what their major is. Assuming a "cookie cutter" Bio major only knows how to do science is as offensive as assuming that people who did not major in science have no scientific aptitude.
Awesome, congrats! Med schools do appreciate military experience, some more than others.
I'm joining the choir saying it's way too early in the cycle to think you won't succeed in it. Personally, I would start planning my next application cycle if I didn't get any IIs by the end of the year. Let's hope this will not be the case with you, but in the worst case scenario I would register and start preparing for a MCAT retake in January.
It's way too early to quit your job - I mean, you don't have to give your boss an 11 months notice, do you?
🙂
As for classes, it makes sense to keep taking them during the application cycle in case you want to send an update to a school. (By this, of course, I don't mean that people who are done taking classes have to start taking them again.)
