2015-2016 Vanderbilt University Application Thread

If we interviewed early and don't get a call today can we assume we are rejected?

No, February acceptances will include people from the fall, too. Don't worry!

When do you think we will get the official email?

Well I got into UNC by phone on 10/15 and then didn't get the official e-mail till 10/23, so especially with Christmas this week I feel like it could potentially be a while

Did your calls mention a scholarship at all?

Might be that they decided to put scholarship offers in the official letters

Did they say things during the interview day about scholarships being awarded at the time of acceptance?
I wrote down on my notes that scholarships are mentioned with the acceptance. Idk if that means with the call or with the email.

Yep, they give it with the acceptance. But if your caller didn't mention it, he/she might have just forgotten (mine almost did). Look for it in the official letter. Congrats btw!

Yes Scholarships go with the call and will be on letter if they forgot to mention. Congrats again all!
OT... I found this app for Nashville that lists all the bands playing music at different bars and venues every night!

vandy is an incredible school yall. i went to undergrad here and just absolutely loved every second. !!!

Is it safe to assume that they're done giving out acceptances for this first round?

I got the call from one of the deans this afternoon...accepted with full scholarship!! I am very, very excited. Interviewed in early November and I fell in love with the school. Can't wait to meet others at second look weekend! Congratulations, everyone!!
:soexcited:

So what did it take for you to get in??? I'm curious. If you don't mind sharing

I hope not, and honestly not sure-- it seems some people were still getting some calls late and since they seemed to start pretty late in the afternoon, I think in past years (though Feb and not Dec) they did it over two days so we'll see

On my phone call the dean specifically mentioned they liked my leadership experience and my academic performance at a top school

I'm not anywhere near the end and got the call pretty late in the day.

Congrats everyone! Stoked to interview here the beginning of January.

On interview day did they mention a.) they still plan to give 75% of the class 75% scholarships (this was stated by the director of admissions at an info session at my school several months ago)
Or b.) that the acceptance rate was still going to be well north of 50% for interviewed candidates? Alternatively, that they are interviewing same number of candidates as years past ~400?

This cycle they plan on interviewing about 450 people. Roughly 200-220 of these will be accepted. I'll let y'all crunch the numbers...

On my day they said they were giving 6 full scholarships and 50% of the class 75% scholarships.

They said that they are interviewing 450 candidates, don't remember if they mentioned acceptances

Wow that's a doozy :boom: . Are the scholarships only for M.D? or includes the PhD people they interviewed for their new program this year as well?

Whoops thanks for catching my typo 🙂

Pretty sure they were just talking about MD

Does anyone know if any more calls will be going out? Or was it just yesterday? 🙁
Depends if they ended up finishing yesterday or not. It's possible they didn't since calls were going out at 10pm EST still--you could probably call admissions to ask if you're feeling ballsy 🙂

Anyone know if we'll get an email or some sort of notification of deferral if we didn't get a call? Kinda bummed to have not heard anything at all...

Enjoy the holidays! I believe those who haven't been rejected or haven't heard anything are still under consideration and I hope you all hear good news in Feb!

Does anyone (applicants or current students) know if you don't hear in December, you still have a shot of a scholarship with a Feb offer?

If you check out last year's thread, someone with a September interview was accepted with a scholarship at the February date. So yes, it can happen.
