that is a lot of people!!!! so it must be very not personal?

Not that much considering they only have 3 or 4 interviews and 2 sessions per interview date.

Hey guys, how long was the actual interview process? And was there a tour?

20 minutes verbal interview, a brief tour after the whole interview process.

From their website: "The four-year PharmD curriculum offers a patient-centered approach to pharmacy clinical practice". What do they mean by this exactly?

i feel like every school spin this one way or another. would you rather they say we just teach but don't teach you to actually practice? lol

I think just more rotation opportunities and electives involving more patient care

just curious, is anyone else from the 1/28 interview still waiting to hear back?
i've called the the office multiple times and they said call back at the end of next week

can someone tell me how the interview process work? Is everyone in the 7:30 am group or are there different times? Also, do we rotate or do we all do the interview, take a tour, and write an essay all at the same time?

There are at least 2 interview groups. I had the 7:30am session. From my experience, you are told to arrive promptly at 7:30am and I thought interviews would start on the dot, but I was wrong. You are walked to a lecture room, where you are able to ask p1's questions. Then you get called to your interview individually in subgroups. After this is done, your entire 7:30am group does the essay together. A tour is given afterwards, but you don't have to take it.

thank you 🙂 how's the essay portion? is that topic easy or hard? Do you just argue your stance on the topic?

I'm guessing there's two groups, 730AM and 930AM. Anyone else in a different group?

can't really help you on this one. it has nothing to do with pharmacy IMO and all you need is some basic writing skills. I think they just want to make sure you can write

You didnt even receive a hold email?

does anyone know where I can take my anatomy class? All the community colleges I know are already in session. I need to take this class before June 1st. Does anyone know where I can go near socal? Thanks!

It's already too late since I doubt you will be able to complete it at a JC by the Western deadline. Might be able to take it somewhere with a quarter system.

I think you're too late.

Did anyone like me interview today? How did it go for you guys? Did you get a bio professor and a student like me?

I thought the campus was very nice! Does anyone know how long it takes for them to respond?

I interviewed today. I had a pharmD and a p1. The campus is nice, but the area around it seemed ghetto-ish.

was it just me or did all the interviewers not take any notes during the interview session?

for those who had interview yesterday ...did they mention how many people they got so far?

No they did not. They just said they were filling a class of 120.

Also, I don't know if I heard this correctly, but did the financial aid person say that they sometimes pull like 60 people off the alternates list? Can anyone from yesterday verify that? I was a lil distracted when she was talking.

Yep they definitely said that. I know because I was shocked! That means 60 people gave up their seats to go somewhere else. It slightly concerns me but i'm hoping to hear back soon. All the students looked so happy and relaxed to go there. Were they actors/actresses?? lol

BTW I was really impressed with the faculty and the way they conducted the interview process. Were you?

Yeah. I didn't like the introduction though. It basically went over what was on the website already, something many of us read BEFORE we got there lol.

Although the 98% passing rate really impressed me.

keep in mind many students find out about Western long before UCSD, UCSF, and USC. Many of these students could have dropped Once they found out about any of those three schools later in the spring and gave up seats at Western. It's all personal choices, if the school feels right for you, then it doesn't matter what others choose to do with their seat.

Hope this makes a bit sense. 👍

I heard that they were going to have a 4th interview session, did I hear that right?

Ya that makes sense. I totally agree but picking a school to go to is also somewhat based on reputation. If school has a bad one, the students may be less likely to attain a position when competing with a student from a well known school. With the saturation of pharmacist that problem seems to increase. Picking a school is such an important choice. I'm nervous! Lol !

Btw -Does anyone know about westerns reputation in the pharmaceutical community both good and bad ? I've been trying to research it 😀

Your right .. Lol but the girl was so good with her presentation ! I like how a lot of the administration Graduated from western too 😛

Wow, I'd suggest you keep calling admissions. I interviewed 1/28 and got the hold email 2/17. My friend also interviewed the same day, but they somehow missed her and she kept having to call admissions until she received her hold email last week.

Was anyone waitlisted or rejected... it seems like everyones either on hold or accepted

I think its still too early....we have to wait till the results of third interview come out....:xf:

just out of curiosity, did everyone "brainstorm" their thoughts during the critical thinking question and actually write it on the provided sheet of paper?

shoot I was too nervous and didn't write anything down! Did anyone get accepted and not brainstorm at all? :/

Yes, I was accepted and I didn't put anything on the paper...so don't worry 😉

I was accepted and I asked if I was suppose to write my thoughts and reasoning down and they just said that a verbal answer was fine

omg, this suspense is killing me. I'm dying in this biochem class because I've missed so much class going to all these interviews -_-;; my first midterm is this tuesday, wish western were faster like other schools!

I didn't know that they're already sending rejection letters? I thought they put everyone on hold and decide in april?

Do you think March 3 interviews will also be placed on hold or do you guys think that everyone by then should receive a direct answer.

Waiting games with California schools suck :\

I have not received any information. No interview. No rejection letter. When I called Mendoza a couple months back, she said my application is still under review. But I have not heard ANYTHINg back. Some of my friends already got rejection letters on Wednesday or hold letters. I have no idea whats going on. Help?

Regarding your friends who received rejection letters on Wednesday, did they interview or was it pre-interview? Also, hang in there! Sounds like they're having another round of interviews. Good luck!

Do they have a specific date posted somewhere?

i thought they were going to wait until end of march as well. haha. guess they really didn't want me. i received a hold letter last week, the rejection this week.

That's crazy! All in one week? That's a lot to take in. I know I met one girl at UW who has been on hold since December's interview. That's a WHOLE LOT OF WAITING.

Well, I hope you got into another school you love! Or was western your first choice? Either way, good luck to you!!
