Hey I called them a few days ago, they said we have to wait till the second week of April for all decisions to be made. So far it seems that either people have been accepted or rejected or on hold. So it seems like what's next is who will be waitlisted... it seems as an hold we'd be more likely to be waitlisted then accepted 🙁 but then again they didn't give me a definite number of how many students were accepted so there could still be more room for acceptances. In any event this wait is driving me crazy 🙁 I had my interview in December!

From reading the posts from previous years, it looks like the "second batch of acceptance" is just a speculation... those that haven't receive anything including myself are pretty much going to be on waiting list. I wish you guys the best of luck !!

Hey Well Im in your shoes, I was interviewed in December too but here we are on hold! I feel like Western definitely takes FOREVER to decide. Every time I call to ask when they will make final decisions I always get a really vague answer, like they dont really know when they will finish deciding which is sooo nerve racking!

they gave ppl interviewed in 3/3 a deadline until 4/6 to answer whether they gonna accept the offer or not. After the deadline, i m sure there will be more spot open and they can look at the waitlist to offer more spot.. good luck.

Well that makes sense then that they'd send out more decisions the second week of April.
 
just got another on hold e-mail 🙁 did anyone else get any update?
 
And the waiting game continues! Still on Hold status
 
Does anyone have any idea when they will start putting people in the alternate list or when the people on hold will start hearing acceptances?
 
Boo. I'm on hold as well.

Is anyone from Irvine/OC area? And recommends a school for an anatomy class. IVC and several colleges around there are always waitlisted and full.
 
try coastline community college. I was having the same issue and enrolled there. I got in without having any credits for that school. Also, don't the anatomy classes/all pre-reqs have to be completed by the end of the spring semester? How can you be on hold?

odd, I didn't get any email or any notifications. Anyone on the 03/31 interview date get anything? I'm not expecting anything yet, but on the interview date they lost my invitation and had to look for it. I just want to make sure I am already in their system post interview.

Correct me if i am wrong. THe grading system is P/NP. You need to get 90% to get passed and repeat again if you fail with your group?

i took my at Golden West College.

Not that hard to get in and pretty easy.

Yeah I hate the waiting game . Have u been accept it somewhere else? I was on hold since 03/03 . So sad the chance is so slim!!!!!! Sucks

I know what you mean. If there are purely ridiculous questions (ie. there is arguably more than one right answer and/or teacher fails at designing test questions), then you're out of luck. However, at least this type of grading scale encourages camaraderie and collaboration among classmates rather than competition. I shudder to think how it would be if pharmacy school was curve graded like law school ... designed to kill. :scared:

haha yeah I'm on hold for Western still. I got lucky and won the lottery at IVC but I don't know how my friend is going to get into an anatomy class

from what i know .. if you're not enrolled into a school right now.. i don't think your friend is going to finish that class. I had this problem and was freaking out for the longest time and had to search the institutions that were on a quarter system. eventually, i got into the course. the only schools i know that are on a quarter system are the UCs, cal state LA, and cal poly pomona. your best bet is to tell your friend to try UCLA, UCSD, or UCR and beg the professor to let him/her in. there is also this integrative science center place but you have to take both anat/phys 1&2, which comes up to be about $4000.

$4000?? i rather take another year off, find a job to make more money and prepare myself better for the next cycle. reedonkulous.

yeah seriously. at first, i thought it was just anat/physio 1. that already was $2000. but when i checked the course equivalence .. you need to take both 1 AND 2.

Wow, thanks for the information. $4000 is such a ridiculous amount of money! I think she's just going to wait until June to apply for pharm schools and try to get into one of the CCs for anatomy now. Where did you end up going?
 
Finally heard back from ONE of the schools... and I am at least accepted to ONE school... so now the wait for Western is less ansy =] Hopefully next week they can finally give me an answer! hehe I would not mind going to western instead!

Hey I remember reading on Western's site that they do not allow students to finish any pre-reqs during the summer before the entering semester. I could be wrong, but you might want to double check?

Does anyone by any chance know what Western's CPJE pass rate is?
 
Hey guys... I am looking over the PharmD budget page for Western and I became curious... might anyone know why 2nd and 4th year have significantly higher outlooks for room and board than 1st and 3rd year? I mean, I can understand transportation since we'll probably be driving to rotations more often in the latter half of the program, but those room and board prices were a little weird to me.:shrug:

For those of you curious about grading yes it's straight scale. It is not pass or not pass we get letter grades A, B, C, U (69% or below). Group work is just a part of your grade (usually 5%-15%). I've never heard of anyone failing a class because their group did poorly on an assignment. Usually groups don't fail their assignments because there are 6-8 people working together. Hope this clears up the confusion.

Talked to admissions today and was told that the committee is making final decisions and "we hope to hear by the end of next week." You guys can interpret this however you want; I wouldn't be surprised it if takes longer though 🙁

I hope they get back to us soon. Whether it be a rejection, hold, or acceptance, it would be nice if they said something so I can stop checking this forum everyday lol.

has anyone been able to log in the banweb system? I couldnt figure out the id/pin thing.
 
Hey guys... I am a Canadian pharmacist who will be relocating to California this summer to attend DO program at Western. I am male and single. If you have a place to rent, I may be interested as long as it has a max of 2 bedroom.

Yeah I had the same problem. Call the number for IT and they will reset your password for you. Takes a few minutes but easy to do. They'll walk you through it.

Has anyone from the 3/3 interview NOT heard back from Western? I interviewed on 3/3, but I haven't heard anything from Western. No hold/acceptance/rejection email, or anything.
