Just so you are fully aware: even if you do go to LECOM, there is no guarantee you'll be in the same place for four years, because rotation sites are assigned when you submit a rank list to your student government second year. The good news is that you go to an Erie pathway and then want to stay in Erie, your chances of that happening are pretty good. But if you were hoping for Seton Hill to be in the Pittsburgh area for four years, it might not pan out; a LOT of people want the Allegheny site.

It's good to hear. Thank you for this information. I LL shoot for Cleveland. I already work in a hospital here. I woul love to come back and practice in this same place. I hope they will give me a credit for being a former employee

For those cities NYC, Philly and such: do you do all two years of rotations there? Or just some random months all over the place?
 
Just interviewed at LECOM and wanted to give my impression to everyone:

Pros: Cheap tuition, cheap housing, 5 different pathways for students (catered to each teaching style), pretty high COMLEX scores, early clinical exposure, new 6-7 million dollar Research Center next to Erie Campus, lectures are now recorded, for me dress code (it's not a big deal for me, plus it makes picking out clothing each day pretty easy- you only have to be in dress code from 8-5 PM)

Cons: PBL doesn't do anatomy dissections but you can go outside of hours to the lab (Anatomy is done via computer stimulation), weather and location (winter in Erie = not much to do), no coffee or water in lecture hall (although for LDP students, you have 50 min classes with 10 min break for you to go to your locker to get a drink or a snack)

Told us that for our interview group, Wednesday morning they would meet w/ Admissions Committee to decide which pile we're put in (accepted, waitlisted or rejected) and then it would take approximately 30 days for a letter to be sent out with our decision. Let me know if you have any other questions!
 
Does anyone know what the situation is in regards to sending thank you emails after interviews?

Do they want them? Or it's not really a big deal? and if they do - do we just send them to the admissions email?

Got an "alternate" letter in the mail yesterday (i.e. waitlist), but I echo pianoperson12's sentiments regarding the school. Anyone know how the waitlist movement is here?

In the interview they told us that it is not ranked and they don't disclose of any info about how it works :shrug:

You start H&P courses your second semester of your first year, and you get involved with preceptors (I believe) second year where you get to practice H&P's on standardized patients.

Hey guys, I just checked the portal and got the " The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days." message. I interviewed last week.

Which day did you interview last week? I interviewed on Friday and no portal change yet.
 
Interviewed on Friday (1/26) and no portal change. Is this a bad sign?
 
Do LORs automatically transfer from AACOMAS, or do they have to be re-sent directly to LECOM?

Yep, have been since November. Toured a few over winter when I could make it up there but they said that they do not even start doing leases for June/July (start of classes) until Spring because the demand is lower in Erie.

Sadly at this point it most likely means you are silently rejected. They send out the rejection letters once the Interview period has ended. Best of luck though, you still have a month or so left that you could hear. Never can hurt to reach out with a letter of intent if they are your top choice.

Interviewed here 02/09 and I was really impressed and loved the overall atmosphere of the school and folks I met. Really hoping for an A here. Would definitely attend.

I was really impressed by the friendly and laid back nature of everyone affiliated with the school that I met. They were all very welcoming and pleasant. The entire day was zero stress. I’ve got more interviews coming up, but I will cancel them if I get an A here.

Even students I passed going to the restroom all wished me good luck and asked where I’m from, etc. Just felt like a great place and Erie was way better than I expected.

The anatomy lab was cool, but we saw it with most of the lights off. Would have been cooler to see a more realistic walk through in terms of the cadavers not being all pushed against a wall so I saw how much space there would be around the tables.

But I definitely didn’t get the “nazi” vibe everyone has mentioned all over the net. I got the exact opposite.

after you guys got the " ...a decision has been made...You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days" portal change...how long did it take for you guys to get the letter in the mail? is it typically around 30 day mark? or sooner or later?
 
I was under the impression that we would hear back within thirty days, as stated during interview day. I interviewed on 1/31. However, running through past commentary suggests this would be unreasonable, and LECOM takes their time when it comes to admissions communication. I have not received a portal change, to date. This is unfortunate because I have other acceptances I am considering volleying.

After the portal changed I got my letter less than a week later.
