Sooooooooo is anyone else planning their second career since they've either only gotten rejections or haven't heard back.....and this is a sign that they'll never match and wasn't meant for this career and it's time to go into something else.....No? Just me....okay....

I have definitely thought about other jobs where our skills may come in useful and I come back to Home Shopping Network every time. We are (hopefully) good at building rapport, so the callers would LOVE us and all of that motivational interviewing would make us the the best sales people ever. Who is with me?!?!

Aww, it's still super early for people to be hearing! Interview invites are coming out earlier this year, it seems. There are people from my program who have heard back from several sites, while I have only heard from 1 - but I think it's important to remember that I do not have a lot of overlap with where they are applying, just like you likely don't have major overlap with people on this forum! It's only 11/15, and applications were due 2 weeks ago (or later!).....we are all going to be okay!

Can I ask a question about extending the application deadline? A site I applied to by the first deadline extended it to Nov 20, but APPIC still lists the notification date as Nov 20. Forgive me for sounding like Comic Book Guy, but what am I to believe, that they will read applications and give out feedback on that very same day? I'm mostly interested in knowing because the site (WellSpan Philhaven CBT) has already extended interview invitations and I'm wondering now if there will be a second round or if there might have been some kind of mistake. Come on, psychictherapists. Come up with answers!

Wanted to echo this. Someone in my cohort has heard back from 4 sites, and I've only heard from 1. It's understandable and easy to read into things and catastrophize, AND different sites offer invites at different times. We'll know when we know. And believe me, I'm whispering this to myself too, because I need to hear it as well

Just out of curiosity...are you a neuropsych person or general adult? I can't really tell if UAB divides up neuropsych and adult or if they consider that all the "adult" track. Hoping I still have a chance to get an interview there!

I’m a neuropsych person and I got an invite from UAB-BVAMC yesterday. I applied to the VA track; not sure if they do VA and academic at the same time or not.

But to answer your question neuronerd07, I don’t think they divide neuro and adult track. I don’t remember all their different match numbers (and I can’t find them now), but I know I applied to the VA and there wasn’t a specific neuropsych match number.

Just wanted to add that I've heard literally nothing. Except that I got denvered by a NYC number this morning. On the bright side, according to the robot that called me, my company has qualified for a substantial loan, so there's always that to fall back on!

CatsFan - congrats on the interview! I think I applied to both VA and academic - I can't find the specific info now either. I saw some people got rejections and I didn't hear either way. So yeah. Just waiting.

No news is good news in a sense; at least you haven't gotten a rejection! I double checked what I applied to by downloading my application from the APPIC site. I sort of had a panic moment that I accidentally applied to the wrong program...my brain is pretty fried after all those applications lol.

Ok, since there is evidence multiple people were notified today, and I can maintain some degree of anonymity, I'll go ahead and fess up that National Psychological Training Consortium-Central was my interview offer, too, although I applied to a different site.

Also, I know the room sharing thing wasn't directed at me, but it feels rude to reply and not mention it, anyway.

I won't be able to room share, couch surf, or anything of the sort during this process. I will require intense introverting every minute that I'm not under direct observation and evaluation. As mentioned earlier in the thread, acting like a decent human being is going to be incredibly taxing and I expect post-acting recuperation to be extensive and perhaps even touch-and-go for awhile.
