Rejection (5th straight...)
Mass email (12/6/17)

I've come to terms, I was not competitive this year. Just not competitive. Man I'm in a bad place. I worked at VA LB for a year prior to graduate school. Even that experience couldn't help me. I honestly need to just stop posting and go do some internal inspection. Five interviews, and way too many rejections to ever feel good about myself. To anyone that got this one, congrats.

5 interviews is great, especially for neuro! That's a tough track/specialty to get interviews for.

I think this post (along with their post for UW-Madison's UCC) was a troll. Same thing is going on with that posting, and it's way before their deadline and their historical notification dates.

Yup. I received an invite from University of Tennessee-Knoxville on 11/30 via mass email, well after ty pwonair posted about their alleged invite, and the dates ty pwonair gave weren't the same as the ones offered.

It's a shame--it started off as a really unique and super mean-spirited trolling...then devolved into your Basic AF grammar policing drivel. Oh well, at least they're outed and won't be able to take the wind out of anyone else's sails (which was totally what happened when I saw UTK listed on page one a few weeks back) with future falsified interview invitations. At least not until rising again under a different username, anyway. Troll in the dungeon indeed--I know I'll be exercising constant vigilance against any new users with stats puns for names (and thanks to eventualphd for decoding that, I totally didn't get it on my own).

Oh man! Waiting on 7 and I thought that was bad. Hang in there! They can only hold out for 8 more days max! (Although I think one of my sites has a notification date after 12/15 -- get it together UCCs!)

I hear ya...I applied to all UCCs, several of which have notification dates of 12/18, and one that's like, the 21st or 22nd?! Still waiting to hear back from 10 myself, all but 2 of which notified last year right on 12/15 or the day before. I'm not going to have any fingernails left by the end of this, which might not bode well for my well-groomed/manicured appearance come the actual interviews. I guess the trade-off is that most UCC interviews are telephone/skype only, which keeps the cost and stress of traveling way down, but that's assuming the anxiety doesn't kill you first.

Oh hell no! As a fellow MASH fan... I was hoping to get to meet the great Hawkeye. I'm holding out hope that perhaps we applied to a few other of the same sites and meet over a nice steaming cup of interview crazies.

How are all of the #forumfamily UCC applicants holding up? :hello:

I still have 14 UCC sites to hear from (have only heard from 2). Next week is going to be crazy!!

Thank you for asking because I feel like I'm starting to spiral out. I'm in a similar boat - have heard from 4 UCCs and radio silence from 14... Tryna to put all my self-soothe & coping tools into action. Better practice what I preach to clients! How are you holding up (as well as other UCC applicants)?

Did you apply to all UCCs? The only UCCs I have yet to hear back from don't do in person interviews.

Honestly I don't understand who would want to troll this site/process? Like who is Ty Pwonair and what's the function? There can't be 12 year olds interested in internship.

Well, although grammatically that is an accurate correction, her TD may have actually told them that having "less interviews" was better. So your "correction" may be totally unwarranted.

With your logic, the author should have use the (sic) designation. Also, in response to your analysis...

I'm still waiting to hear from 9 UCCs. I get excited to see others getting their interview invites even with the silence killing me. I keep reminding myself to be grateful that the process might be less expensive since so many are phone or Skype interviews. And...just remind myself that really what I am telling to my clients is "Practice what I say not as I do."

Is that... yep, that's rain on my parade Hawkeye!!! Most of the rest of the sites I'm waiting on are counseling centers, four of which do not interview in person (Washington State U, Montana State U, U of Colorado Wardenburg, and WVU Carruth Center for Counseling and Psych). Most of the others I'm waiting on are optional in terms of on-site interviews vs not.

Yes! I am waiting on 10 UCCs! I also have one who said they will notify people by 12/22!! How is this possible?! I am trying to constantly remind myself that UCCs are busy helping students who are in crisis and to be patient. Plus..starwars comes out next week so at least there is that to look forward to!

Speaking of UCCs...

The tally signatures was never meant to be an “in your face” thing. I started mine at 0 interviews and 0 rejections, and I saw folks whose tallies showed more rejections than interviews. I understand that it started to feel all celebratory to folks who are having a tough time but perception isn’t necessarily fact. The tally was data, a way of communication that seemed innocuous. I’ve heard you guys and like many others have taken mine down happily but please don’t make it more sinister than it was intended with your talk of being insensitive and mean spirtited cause that hurts and feels shaming Just my two cents. I wish all of you well and joy and interviews!

Well said, I feel the same and removed mine as well. Good luck to everyone starting on the interview train this week and next!

This post is exactly what's wrong with the field of psychology.

This whole tally argument is absolutely ridiculous. Don't incessantly check the site to fuel your catastrophizing thoughts and self-pity. People should be proud of their interviews and if they want to show a tally that's fine! This argument is a microcosm of everything that's wrong with the field of psychology and the people who become clinicians

Hey y'all - just to provide some balanced thoughts:

If you're feeling sensitive about the tallies right now, that is OKAY. It is also OKAY if you never considered that other people might feel sensitive about them and chose to use them! It's fine to ask for people to alter something because it's making you uncomfortable, with the recognition that they didn't mean to do that. I haven't seen anyone accuse anyone of being intentionally insensitive. And guys who have made that change - that was generous and thoughtful of you. Agreed that you did nothing wrong - and were gracious enough to change something that was upsetting others. Asking someone to make a change isn't "what's wrong with" psychology, nor is having scared/anxious/negative feelings around something likes this, even if they're mildly irrational. And I'm proud of everyone here for in general using this thread for support rather than catastrophizing! You're all awesome.

Anyone who received a phone call invite from Columbia/New York Presbyterian last week -- have you received the confirmation email they said they would send post phone call? I haven't

Congrats on your invite!! I am still in limbo with Bellevue (for the adult track) but this gives me hope!
It just shows that it really isn't over until you get an actual rejection! They must have a second round of invites or a wait list of some kind.

Other people were FAST in posting these! First rejection and for a site I really liked so that's a weird feeling; I had to keep myself from looking at the e-mail while on the phone for SUNY Albany's interview 😛 Onward and upward!

So so agree with this - I think it's important for people to recognize that others might not mean harm, but it's also a great mature thing to alter your behavior (if you feel able to do so) when someone is feeling upset. I removed my tallies because it doesn't hurt me to do so, and I understand that no one was specifically accusing me of being purposefully insensitive.

Yah. It's rough when your cohorts are getting invites left and right and the 15th seems so far away. I've received 3 invites, received 3 rejections (2 more are coming). So I still have ten left to hear from...I did apply to four CMHC sites and only heard back from one so far. My friends are already out on interviews and I'm like...waiting, really hoping to at least get to 5 invites...I keep obsessively checking this site to the point I'm fully expecting an intervention where my family and friends take away my electronic devices and send me to a facility, which actually doesn't sound bad at this point

I hear ya! Let me know the name of the facility and I'll check in with you! 🙂

I'm holding up okay, definitely using all the coping skills you're referring to! I'm really more excited than anything else and hoping I match with supportive people such as yourself 🙂

Yup. I received an invite from University of Tennessee-Knoxville on 11/30 via mass email, well after ty pwonair posted about their alleged invite, and the dates ty pwonair gave weren't the same as the ones offered.

Definitely took the wind out of my sails, too! Hopefully they will lose energy and stop trolling soon, but we will keep supporting one another!
