But seriously those sound like really minor typos and I doubt they even noticed them honestly! They're reading dozens of pages of text for *each* applicant so your eyes have to glaze over at some point? No idea about the assessment percentage errors though, not sure how closely those kinda things are looked at or not.

I didn't get a follow up confirmation yet.

I emailed approximately an hour later requesting my date and received an email back saying the date I requested was filled. I got my second choice though.

I feel you! The one I had a couple days ago was from 12-4, and that was AMAZING because I got to wake up, enjoy breakfast and then head over to the interview. I have one later in the season where I’m going to get in at like 1 am, and then have to be up at 530 or 6 to get ready for an 8 am interview #dead

Yeah, I have one 12-4 that I'm soooo grateful for! The rest (so far) are around 8am start times. Even 10-5 would be sooo much better! Since I'm staying with friends or family for pretty much all of them, that means maybe an hour-ish commute to some of these sites depending on how far they live. I'm obviously grateful for the chance to save $$ on hotels and get support around this stressful experience 🙂 but yeah, having to look polished and professional and feel alert and awake by 7am is definitely not my cup of tea

Oh mannnn getting in that late the night before an 8am interview??? That's really brutal 😴 Good luck!! Hope you get a nap in on the plane at least! (If you're flying in... if you're driving, then wow, that's so rough!)

[emoji14] Weren't in-person interviews/tour anticipated or announced on the APPIC directory scheduled for 12/18/17 too? That doesn't give much time for invited applicants to prepare and plan if they have to fly to Hawaii [emoji848]

The interviews are entirely online. There is an optional open house on 1/19.

I was confused at first about the open house since the phrase "open house" sounds very casual, show up when you want, and then just stroll away as you so please. Can I just say as a 200% NON-morning person, I sooo appreciate any sites that have afternoon interview options! I know I probably shouldn't complain at all since I have a bunch of interviews and feel SO grateful and excited to have them!! Buuuut most of mine start around 8am and it's SO hard for me to even marginally function at that hour, let alone be *on* and interview-ready at 8am 😴 Plus with time zone changes, that also means that a few of those 8am interviews start at 5-7am for my internal body clock Please tell me I'm not the only night owl super worried about this??

Might as well get used to it. This old night owl now works 8-430 and is in bed by 945 to wake up for work. Grad school sucks, but at least I could go to sleep when I wanted, wake up (mostly) when I wanted, and go to the gym at 10 am. Wahhhh. I’ll stop complaining; back to you, prospective interns... just an emo supervisor here reminiscing about less tired times.

They vary a bit from site to site, but one of the more common strategies is to rate applications as they come in. They will rank orsee the candidates and then go through that list serially. As they begin extending offers some interviewees will be unreachable (crazy people), some will have accepted other invitations already, and they will continue down their list to maintain a full interview panel. Once deadline is reached, everyone will be notified of their status. This is why sites with rolling invites have wait lists and other sites dont.

Again, lots of variation on that, but that at least gives you a basic schematic of the process.

Yes! I’ve been waiting on them all week, really hoping I would hear something today! I’m still waiting on four, even though most of my sites notified before Thanksgiving...I’m pretty sure two of those are rejections though haha
