2018-2019 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Site Name: Trinitas Regional Medical Center
-Rejection
-Date of Notification: 12/11
-How you were notified - Mass email (dear applicant), but they went on and on about how qualified and how they'd like me to apply for a position after I graduate. It was so strange. If I'm so impressive, why couldn't you remember my name?!

Site: Jacobi Medical Center
Track: n/a
Invite or Rejection: Rejection
How You Were Notified: Personalized email
Dates: n/a

Take a hint from Jacobi, all other sites! This is how you reject someone:

"We reviewed your application with great interest and were impressed by your credentials and experience. However, regretfully, we will not be able to offer you an interview for the 2018-2019 internship year.
We wish you success in all your endeavors."

Very classy, Jacobi. 🙂
I'll do you one better, check out McLean's:
"We have received many more applications than we can offer interviews for our limited number of placements. While you are an excellent candidate with very impressive credentials, we regret that we will not be able to extend an interview invitation. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to review your application materials. We wish you a successful outcome in the Match process."

Like hot damn, McLean, this rejection was nicer than some of my invites haha.

OK, I 'll play-anyone hear from any of these????
University of the Pacific
Cal State San Marcos
West Carolina University
Northwood Health Systems
Florida Gulf Coast University
University of Idaho Testing & Counseling
Kentucky River Community Care
Yes to WCU!

Dangit! Edit! I misread your question as "did anyone apply to any of these?" I have not heard from any of those!

Edit dos: unless they've made a change since I last looked, WCU's notification date is actually on the 18th. We'll be waiting awhile...

What date did you chose? I chose the 15th (3 minutes after I received the email) so hopefully I get that date.
Same, but I only have a slight preference for the 15th. I could also do the 19th so I told them if other applicants are more restricted then the 19th is also fine. I have an interview in PA and plan to fly there and back Tuesday -> Thursday. I think the Monday date would be better just in case I get delayed in PA due to weather! I live in TX btw so I would be driving.

Sanity? Well there was an invite right above it so that helped

Dang, I didn't even apply there, and even I'm uplifted by their rejection. That's true talent right there.

Did anyone get an invite to the Pediatric track at CHOP? I saw rejections but not invites?

Whoa you guys - I've been lurking on this forum for a few weeks now and decided to make an account to post about an interview invite. Turns out my email was already in use because I made an account almost six years ago during my senior year of undergrad. I had to look back at my posts to even remember what I posted (it was a general question about pursuing a masters/Ph.D. in clinical psychology). I remember feeling unsure of myself then, stressed that I would never be qualified enough to get into a clinical Ph.D. program, worried I wasn't making the right decision. I definitely still have moments like that, but here I am - finally moving on to internship and at a point I would consider to be pretty successful (even though this degree makes me feel extremely deflated sometimes). Anyway, sorry for the story time - was just feeling nostalgic and a little proud. Just remember how far all of you have come.

Has anyone heard back from Cambridge Health Alliance Track II (Combined Adult/Child Track) yet?

I'm still waiting on them as well. They're the last site I care about that I haven't heard from! I saw other tracks got their notifications last week, so I'm suspecting we'll be hearing sooner rather than later. Good luck!

San Francisco VAMC was quite pleasant as well:

"It is with deep regret that I must inform you that we will be unable to offer you an interview for the psychology internship training program at San Francisco VA Medical Center. "

Followed later by...

"I am sorry that this busy season does not allow me to include a personalized note. I know so much goes into the application process and it is clear that many of you are very strong candidates and will make excellent interns."

Right?! I almost felt a bit like sweet and beautiful Ann Perkins who didn't realize Chris Traeger was breaking up with her because the rejection was so positive and kind.

I see you, San Francisco VA!! Well done!:claps:

I know my friend got an invite at CHOP, and I'm pretty sure it was for the Peds track (given that that's her jam). So sorry you're still in limbo!!

Has anyone heard from the Kansas City or Portland VAs yet? This is killlllllling me

Has anyone heard from University of Illinois at Chicago / Psychiatry Dept / Adult Track? Their apps were due Nov 1... like come on!

Congrats on your invite to Boston Children's @slaney!!! Has anyone else heard anything from them today? No rejection or invite..

Also, has anyone heard anything from the Mt Sinai Adol Health Center?

I'm still waiting on them too! They're actually my last site so I wish they would hurry up and notify us already!

What freaks me out is that the more days that go by this week, the more sites we're going to be hearing from in one day. I don't think my heart/head can handle 9 invites/rejections in a single day!

I am waiting too! At least one person has posted an invite, but no one else has seconded it for what I've seen. I've asked about it on here a few times and it looks like a lot of people are waiting.

I am waiting for them too, and just thought what if it's an M. Night Shyamalan twist:

UIC only offers a single interview for a single position ***dun dun DUN***

I greatly appreciate your positivity. I was hoping this week would be a good one so I am holding out hope. It is very disheartening to think that I had applied to "safe" sites and competitive ones and have been rejected from the "safe" ones which I thought were an absolute great fit. Such a weird process
I'm so sorry you are going through this, it's such a stressful process. If you do end up going into second round I would highly suggest you have a few people review your application and see if there are things you could change. Last year a girl in my cohort went into second round and was way more successful due to a few tweaks to her essays. Just remember, this will all be over in a few months and then you can breathe a sigh of relief

Rejection today from San Francisco VA.

Does anyone have any information on Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek?

I appreciate your advice. I have chatted with someone who went through the Phase II process and they said they actually found better fit sites in round 2. I will definitely have my DCT take a look at everything ahead of time and tweak it. I am ready to be able to sleep well at night haha

Now I am experiencing all sorts of confusing emotions...

I had friends match to cool sites in Phase 2, they also found the process less stressful. Whenever I’m scared about matching first round I try to keep their experiences in mind.

Has anyone heard from the Cheyenne VA??? Today is their notification deadline and COB is in 45 minutes.

I am currently on internship now and I can say with 100% certainty that there were AMAZING sites available during round 2 last year. You will be just fine

Every years since I started my program I've looked at the Phase 2 sites and they have always been stellar sites.

I am in the exact same boat. Hard to not feel let down.
