How is that I have received 2 random phone calls on the same day?! And one was from Houston...do I call back? Did anyone who received an offer from Baylor Medical School get contacted by phone? And they did not leave a message!!!!!

Ya'll omg, my husband finally fessed up about checking this thread "once or twice a day" for the past week looking for info on my sites in order to "mentally prepare" for dealing with all of my emotions when I come home.

Is anyone getting notifications in the later portion of the evenings, rather than regular business hours?
 
I think I have superb avoidance skills. Just printed out a calendar and wrote in all the potential interview dates. How are some sites going to interview end of Nov and December and to our knowledge, has made no contact!? I hate hate traveling. It makes me super anxious like I need every leg of the trip and detail mapped out. Cutting it close. I see why everyone is freaking out who are applying more nationally.

It's been radio silence ALL day over here! I have been trying to distract myself all day. I also have my prospectus defense next week so I have that to ruminate on...all..the...time. In fact, last night I dreamt I was doing my prospectus defense in front of my 5 committee members and some how it ended in a dance number. Is that a good sign or a bad sign?

I have many bags of Trader Joes gluten free chocolate chip cookies in the house. Highly recommend. Tastes gluten-full.

I can’t tell if it’s more adaptive for me to be getting ready to be rejected or for me to be holding out hope. Also, none of the emoticon options on this site adequately portray my anxiety/distress/hope/confusion!!!

My partner stays home with the kids, so we’ll probably keep with that arrangement because I have a hard time believing that anything she could get short term would cover daycare for twins! I will say that when I was at ISTSS, one of the current Boston VA interns mentioned that the va had on site childcare for a reasonable rate, if anyone else is applying to VAs!

And I would totally be down for a parenting on internship forum 🙂

I would be happy to participate in a parenting on internship thread. No plans yet, waiting to find out where I match, though mine are old enough I hope to be able to utilize before/after school care as needed.
 
Happy to be with you guys in purgatory! My DCT encouraged me to reach out to a site today because it had been so long since the invites went out and I still haven't heard anything. I did it (with hesitation) but still nothing 😵

Definitely up for a parenting thread! We’ve not been sure what to do… internship year will be our son’s last year of preschool. The tentative plan is to do some research after we see where all the interviews are (so far I’ve only gotten one), and then as soon as match day comes (knock on wood) immediately call some place we’ve already researched.

In all honesty- I'm terrified for this given I'm a single mother with two kiddos. And I have a good gig right now, daycare and school (for the older and daycare only for younger) so I can work from 8am to 5pm. I mean the school bus even picks up and drops off at the day care center and it's across the street from work. Across the street! So my travel time is 5 minutes... I will miss it there

All the parents up in here deserve a standing ovation! Real talk, there was a period during the application phase where I wore the same Game of Thrones sweatshirt and ate a grilled cheese for lunch and dinner everyday for like a week....so the fact that some of y'all take care of tiny humans ON TOP of all the stress and work of applying and being grad students is super inspiring. I'd be glad to lend my humor anywhere it's welcome 🙂

Our DCT told us not to expect invitations until first week of December, and that rejections usually come first. Based on the 16'-17' interview thread, this is accurate. People are more likely to talk about invitations than rejections on forums as well. It's is probable that your are experiencing a bias in the sample so to speak. I have 1 rejection and no interviews . It's hard, but keep breathing. You ARE good enough, and the anxiety and fear of shame is why every single one of is compulsively viewing this thread. #brenebrown

Also, to contribute to the picture being drawn by some - I have heard nothing from any of my sites, and suspect I won't until December. One of my sites had been mentioned on this thread, but that's it. So other radio silence people, you are not alone!!!

I'd be all over a parenting thread! I have an 8 week old and it sure was interesting getting everything submitted. I'm also relating hard to posts about pumping breaks during interviews. For those with infants, are you leaving the baby while you travel? Taking baby plus caretaker/partner? Dying inside at the prospect of being away from your infant child for days on end?
