Me too! Except I don't have puppies. And replace pb cookies with alcohol because that's fine and normal, OKAY.

I have heard mixed feedback as well re thank you emails which is why I threw the question out there... I guess it's good to know that nothing about this process is straight forward. Or easy. Or sensible. #LetsKeepAddingToOurAnxiety

Seriously. Still feel completely uncertain if I should email or not. Sigh.

I am going to put this out again.

Has anyone heard a firm no from Lake Forest College CC or University of Kentucky CC. I am expecting rejections, but would really appreciate the opportunity to add two more red lines to my excel sheet.

Also FYI, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign sent out their rejection emails around the same time as invites. Very considerate.

Well, I think that if they are overwhelmed with thank you emails, then the worst they can think about you for sending one is: "Dang it- another flippin' thank you. Like I haven't gotten a bajillion of these already. Well...at least they liked our site." (Unless they ask you not to send one--then I would definitely comply with their requests.)

However, if they don't say anything, I plan on sending one. The APAGS workbooks encourages them, and I'd rather err on the side of convention on gratitude/courtesy type stuff.

Thank goodness, it's been a whole HOUR since anyone posted a notification on here and I was starting to feel uncomfortable.:corny:

Lol I just got a rejection (expected) from VAMHCS/UM SOM and considering that they started sending invites in early November and it's almost Dec 15 this line cracked me up: "We hope that providing you with this notification in a timely manner will be helpful as you make plans with other sites that may be a better fit."

Site: University of Miami (FL)
Date: 12/12/17, mass email "too many applicants, thanks"

Now this is just my opinion - so take it with a grain of salt and put more weight on advice provided by your faculty and by students who have matched in past years. I don't want this to happen:

Your Chair: Why didn't you send an enthusiastic 'thank you' email to that site you loved so much?!?
You: Well, HappyPhDHopeful said it would be annoying...
Your Chair: WHO SAID WHAT????????!!!!!!?????
You: Rats.

Wait...are you telling me that not everything it says on the internet is true? I thought I could trust EVERYTHING. Recently while meeting with my DCT and fellow interns someone asked if it was okay to wear a blazer and pants that aren't from the same set, and before I could bite my tongue I helpfully was like, "People on the internet say it's okay."

I just received an email stating they want to retract their rejection and would like to extend an invitation to me. 😕

That is nuts! Are you going to take it?

Woooooow. That is super rude of them! Honestly, sounds like you dodged a bullet there.
Tis true. I don't want to know "what's wrong with my app" since other places like it. Their wording was interesting is all lol

Are all UCLA Semel track invites sent out? Some of the tracks aren’t listed on the master page.

I guess they prefaced it by "sometimes applicants ask for feedback and we aint got time for that, so go get it critically analyzed" still though 😛
🤣 Right? Man, contrast that with the super nice let-downs other people have posted and definitely sounds like Suffolk is a place to avoid.

Hey, it could be right for the people who got interviews. I just was like...but how realistic is it to expect you'll get an invite everywhere?? Other sites are like WE LOVE YOUR APPLICATION WOW, then others are like, this is crap. Haha, what has this world come to, none of it makes sense 😛

Ha! I think this TD needs to heed the advice of Craig Ferguson. He said he asks himself 3 questions before speaking:
1) Does this need to be said?
2) Does this need to be said by me?
3) Does this need to be said by me NOW?

In this case, the answer to #1 is maybe. But the answer to #2 and 3 (for the TD) is a great big heck no! Dude, boundaries! Let the DCTs take care of it!

I hear ya... it may not be the wrong place for everyone and hopefully is the absolute right place (#wandsitestyle) for some people. That rejection certainly rubbed me the wrong way is all my sarcastic criticism is meant to say.

I had this happen at one site too! I didn't want to post about it on here because I didn't know how it would affect people's emotional coping with rejections lol. It seems like some sites do this when they have open interview slots instead of keeping an alternates list.

I just laughed out loud so hard it hurt. I'm sure it was out of good intentions, just I interpreted it like "whaaat, do I suck this badly?

Oh yes, it rubbed me the wrong way too, but all I can do is laugh at it and be like, I still am in a good position and have awesome places to interview with. I just don't want any people who got interviews there to jump on me 😛

A song for the Hawai'i VA, to the tune of "O Tannenbaum/Oh Christmas Tree":

Oh Hawai'i
Oh Hawai'i
Your deadline was on Friday

I would like to
Receive some news
About the state
Of interviews

Oh Hawai'i
Oh Hawai'i
Your deadline was on Friday...

*edit, can you tell I cannot get my brain to focus on work today

"The most common reasons that applicants are not offered interviews at our site are: 1) interests and goals that are not a clear fit with our training philosophy and the experiences we can provide; 2) less multicultural self-awareness or experience than other applicants; and 3) less clinical experience than other applicants."

BTW- Purely phone interviews are ROUGH. First one today, first interview too, guess it could have gone much worse. No longer an APPIC interview virgin. Let the fun begin!

I had my first Skype interview today too! Awwwkarrdd. Connection kept getting dicey.. And then just phone on Thursday. I'm looking forward to wearing sweats and Uggs...

I got this one as well! Kind of expected it.

Sorry for the 5 trillion posts in the last few minutes but has anyone requested a phone/skype interview yet for a site that originally posted on APPIC that they will allow them? How did the TD react? This email I received says "strongly encourage" an in person interview but with the way things are going I'm not sure I can make it out all the way across the country the one day that might actually work...
