do I hve any chance at a pediatric residency of my choice? 🙁

it depends if your choice is harvard or a local smaller hospital. you should match, but like the above posters be a little more open and realistic about the hospitals you can get.

I'd be happy to go anywhere in Chicago or Wisconsin do you guyss know any programs there that would accept my score? Also I wanted to have a backup residency....internal medicine just in case the pediatric one doesn't work out... Do you think I should take step two??

I'm sure that Peds would be one of the specialties that cares a lot more about the applicant as a whole rather than just numbers. Sure you won't be able to match at CHOP or other great programs, but I would venture to bet that you'll be able to match somewhere in the Midwest. Talk to the PD at your school and others who could give you advice as how to maximize your chance at matching where you want. I don't think applying to IM makes to much sense (I thought they were on par in terms of competitiveness). Also, you could always do aways at sites your interested in to impress them, and you can take step 2 early to demonstrate academic ability. Best of luck, and remember that passing the damn test is a huge accomplishment!
