2020-2021 Postdoc Interview Thread

Hello-
I am still waiting to hear from Michigan Medicine (Women's Track) and Rush (Women's Track). I am assuming they are rejections, however we are approaching the dates where a few of my sites stated that they would begin making offers, so I would like to know beyond a doubt that I was rejected. Also- do you all intend to start posting offers/acceptances?

I emailed them early last week and they said they would let me know by the end of this past weekend. Havent heard anything yet. Will report back when I hear something.

I haven't heard back either! I also emailed them last Monday and they told me they would send out invites by the end of last week. I'm sure we'll hear soon

Has anyone heard from the following:

NYU Child Study Center (was told they were sending out interviews/rejections ~ 2 weeks ago but haven't heard anything either way)
Mount Sinai St. Luke's High-Risk Child
Mount Sinai St. Luke's CITPD

Does anyone know if the Bedford VA filled their positions? Still nothing but radio silence from them, and they did not respond to my email about asking for an update on the status of my application. :bang:

Re: Rush - I and another person in my reading group both applied for the Rush Women's Track position as well. None of us have heard a peep, either. Today, she told me that she emailed them last week and heard that they would be extending interview requests late last week or early this week. It's definitely entirely possible that none of us are receiving interviews for whatever reason ... but I'm still holding out a teeny tiny smidgen of hope lol. So we will see. Could also be a straight up rejection coming soon, though.

I think this was discussed before in the thread but how many applicants per post doc position do places typically interview? I'm sure it varies, I'm just curious.

HELP! I am desperate for advice! I am location limited. I applied to a couple local sites for clinical postdocs. My top choice is my current internship site that participates in the UND on 2/24. The other is a private practice that will make offers on 2/1, which is a Saturday, and only gives 24 hrs to accept (and I have learned don't make any extensions). The private practice was pretty cool but I prefer to stay with my current internship site because it better aligns with my overall goals. Unfortunately, my postdoc committee will likely be offline next weekend so if I do get an offer from the private practice, and I email my current site requesting a reciprocal offer, they won't likely get it until after the 24hr deadline. I am really stressed about this since I need to live locally. Is there anything I can do? I don't know if I should approach my TD about this. I don't want to put her in an uncomfortable position if they aren't considering me. And I also don't want to turn down the private practice in case my site chooses someone else.

Any tips for navigating this? Is it okay to approach my TD about this pickle?

This sounds very stressful. I think that if you can, you should talk to your TD regarding this dilemma and potential reciprocal offer. And, they may be unable to offer a position if they have not completed their interview process. (This is why APPIC encourages programs to adhere to the UND- so trainees are not placed in this situation). I wish you all the best!

Has anyone heard from or your peoples have heard from Cincinnati Childrens - Ped Psych?

Has anyone heard from NYU either way? I emailed over a week ago to follow up, so I'm feeling like it's a rejection, but I want to know regardless.

I still haven't heard either - it's crazy! I actually followed-up again today. Will post here if I hear anything back.

I actually received an invite a few weeks ago for the mood/anxiety track. I had to then cancel the interview last week after accepting with another site. Maybe they will send out more invites?! My friend still has not heard either from them one way or another. My interview was actually supposed to be for today.

I am waiting to hear back from Mt. Sinai CITPD too. Haven't received rejection or invitation to interview. Have you heard from them in the past few days?

Trauma! Yeah still no response.

How long after your interview would you follow up with a site to see if your application was still under consideration. It has been 2 weeks since I had my interview at my #1 site and I haven't heard back from them yet?

I would wait 3-4 weeks after the interview. They may have just completed interviews and/or may not have met for the final decision yet (worst case scenario, they've offered someone else the position but haven't finalized it yet so they can't send out rejection letters). For the few people chosen to interview, they know you're expecting a response and will get back to you as soon as they can.

Seems that there are several of you currently interviewing for positions. Good luck to all of you in the process. There has been some growth in the number of available positions, which is great to see. Just wanted to pop in here and say don't be discouraged by rejections, it's part of the process. and don't let the condescending tone of some of the folks in here discourage you either.

Hey I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to whether or not its customary for sites sending you a notice that they are going to rank you? I've had some friends get these emails and it has made me a little anxious since I havent gotten any such email despite interviewing with quite a few places. Should I just assume a site is not interested in me if I dont get an email like that?

I don't know this for sure, but I was under the impression that those types of emails were not allowed. I thought that the sites could only give you an update on how they might rank you if you received another offer from a non-match site prior to the Match.

I have several friends here at the conference that got emails using the language "congratulations we wanted to notify you that we will be ranking you" and from different sites as well so I dont think it is just one site breaking some rules lol. I guess I was just concerned at the implications of not receiving these types of emails. To be fair I had most of my interviews yesterday.

According to the APPCN Match Policies (assuming you’re neuropsych focused and referring to INS), sites can technically inform you of your status with certain approved verbiage

I should have specified, I am in neuropsych and I was talking about INS. I assumed it would be fine for them to do it I just didnt know if I should be concerned about not getting these types of notices.

Gotcha. Yeah I asked a couple of my supervisors about whether or not they sites are required to let you know about your status and they said it’s up to them to let you know any info. However, if you don’t get any of those emails, it doesn’t necessarily reflect their level of interest in you.
