I think I saw somewhere on this thread that the statuses of our applications didn't have significant meaning, as in it doesn't matter if we're on sub-committee or file review complete but just wanted to check in and make sure this was right lol. Anyone else still on sub-committee? Cause I still am lol and wondering if this is normal.

Since I've been on sub-committee status since beginning of August (but have not received a rejection), can I assume I am still in the running for an interview?

Like have the looked at my file? or am I still waiting to be reviewed in general?

They are posted on VCU's website too. "Offers for admission are made on or before October 1 for the Early Decision Plan and October 16, December 16, February 1 and March 1 to fill the class for regular admissions. At the time the class is filled, an alternate list of applicants is compiled from which replacements are drawn for any vacancies which may occur in the selected class by the first day of orientation." Current Applicants VCU School of Medicine

Does this mean if we do not hear/see tabs on one of these dates, that we could be waitlisted/rejected or do they tell us we’re on a waitlist on these dates too?

im scheduled to interview 2/2. would it be worth asking for an earlier spot so I can meet the 2/1 decision date lol
vcu is my only II so far and I feel like everything is gonna come down to this school anyways, so trying to increase my chances...

At this point, in theory, the only way they could move you up is if someone dropped their spot that is scheduled ahead of your date. But I assume they would just give that spot to the next person waiting for an II than to wait and give it to you. I highly doubt requesting an earlier date (especially for that purpose) will make a difference at all. You still have the March decision date, which would be your best chance anyway. Just worry about crushing the interview.

ugh im nervous that interview invites are like done with, I havent seen anybody report one in so long
I wouldnt worry yet. Holiday season is around the corner and I wouldnt anticipate many schools interviewing at the end of December. I received my interview invite and was asked to interview two days later. They just may prefer to give II closer to expected interview dates.

if we don't get accepted tomorrow, what are the chances we will get accepted at a later date?

I've heard its about 25% (approx 50 out of 200) each date, which really sucks
Yes, this is frustrating but it's also nice that the process is equitable for those who interview later in the cycle - at many other schools, those later interviewees would be at a significant disadvantage.

Has anyone that interviewed on 12/10 received a post-interview status update yet?

good luck everyone tomorrow!!!! crossing yal fingers for fat As and celebrations~ do yall know what time eastern i should look?

This feels like a good time to share. I sat through 2 cycles worth of waiting for tabs and I never got them. Its going to hurt if that time comes and you don't get in. But everything happens for a reason, and its all going to work out. I couldn't be happier than where I am at right now, and you are all going to be amazing doctors no matter what happens tomorrow!!

lmao just moved from sub committee to file review completel! I was originally complete 8/31

To echo Tall Doctor, I too sat a whole year waiting for tabs and never got them. Fortunately the second time around I was lucky enough to get them, but I definitely know the feeling of waiting in anticipation...then nothing happening. It'll all work out! If you made it this far then you will find your path through medicine, regardless of whether or not that path begins at VCU.

Hey ya'll. I am sitting here stressed to death LOL. I got a status change just now, post-II, stating that I have been placed on hold. Is that the decision?? as in should I be expecting a possible WL come March? or do decisions come out tomorrow (12/16) for sure?

It just means you have been voted on by the committee, and will receive an A or defer (silence) tomorrow.

reminder that your worth is not based on the decision that comes out today - you are all amazing people and will be incredible physicians one day! I know the pain of not getting those tabs (I was passed over on the 10/16 date) but I just wanted to remind you all that you are incredible!!

Wouldnt there be more interview between 10/16 and 12/16 than say between 2/1 and 3/1? So id guess more interviews would be given out on 12/16, but the proportion may be the same
I was thinking that too. Idk. It's just speculation at this point.

Are today's decisions just for people who have already had an interview??

If we interviewed in September, and didn't get an answer on the last date (on 10/16), is it possible that we get an answer today (even if the chances are low)?
