Did anybody from 12/9 interview date hear anything today?

I'll sum this up briefly. You do not have to believe Tall Doctor or me, but we have both had personal experiences and insight more so than the average applicant.

You can get in on any acceptance date, regardless of when you interviewed. HOWEVER, it would appear based on my experiences with current VCU SOM students (I myself am one) and multiple VCU threads on SDN, that the best chance for acceptance is the first offer date after your interview. It's a pretty common theme and turned out to be true for myself last application cycle (first time I applied I had radio silence until I was offered for waitlist then didn't get off). If you interviewed before the October acceptance date, then in theory you would have all 4 dates to potentially be accepted. Since you got an early interview, VCU probably values your application which is good, but still the cumulative number of potential acceptances becomes greater and greater with each date.

TLDR: You can get in on future acceptance dates, so there still is hope. However, first date following your interview appears to be your greatest chance at acceptance pre-potential WL.

Hope this helps.

Anybody else stuck on this following their recent interview? Is it supposed to switch to the on-hold message? I'm assuming they've already reviewed me, but I'm unsure.

One might consider me a professional at getting waitlisted here (2 times) LOL.

Heyo guys, I had an interview on 12/09 and was placed on hold. Since I did not receive an A today I decided to make an account and offer my condolences to anyone who's in the same boat and congratulate those who got the TAB lol
At least we have a shot at that "last one off the waitlist" scholarship lol

I interviewed in the afternoon on 12/8, mine now looks like this:

It seems weird that they would have reviewed only some applicants from that day though, so maybe yours just hasn't updated?

I was also wondering this. I would love to write a letter of intent but I vaguely remember the interviewers saying that the adcoms only look at your file once after your interview.
They’re not very responsive to letters of intent as they are a state school. I brought it up at my second interview and Dr Whitehurst Cook literally laughed and said they don’t mean much for us.

At committee your file recieved a final score. That score will stay with you the entire rest of the cycle and nothing will change it. The waitlist is ranked exclusively by your score— so a letter of intent will just be a check Mark next to your name on the list that you’re still interested. That’s what she told me.

I was today years old when i realized VCU was not a private school

Do in-state applicants still have a better chance? That’s what I thought from the data but during the interview Dr. Baker said it’s like 50/50
There are more OOS than IS that apply. So yes they have a better chance in the sense that there are less people applying for same amount of spots.

I am in state though. Maybe it'll mean something for me?

At the same time though there's more OOS movement off of the waitlist because VCU is low yield for OOS applicants, I believe.

So i've been crying these past two days because I thought I hadn't been accepted. It was shocking to me because I thought I did well at my interview. I refused to look at my portal and waited for an email that never came. Finally today, in my depressed state, I decided to check the portal just for the heck of it and what do I see? TABS and a message congratulating me. Thank you VCU for not notifying people via something archaic like emails. Thank you brain for refusing to check the portal and instead crying and telling people you didn't get in when you actually did. I'm so happy.

Has anyone else been complete since July and not heard a thing? I haven’t even gotten an update that my application is under review. It still says “your application is complete”.

If I received an email informing me of a status update (pre-II) on my portal and I see nothing different from before, is that a bad sign?

At that point it's just a waiting game. Once someone with a current II drops their spot, they may try to fill that spot with someone in your position. But, like was mentioned previously, it appears that would be the only way to get an II from here at this point.

So I completed the II back in July, but still no updates. I am OOS. has anyone else not heard at all? This is happening to me at a lot of schools it seems

they never offered you a timeframe of when you can expect to hear back?? I would contact them if its 5-6 months post II.

no not really other than notification of application received or payment. It is similar with a lot of other schools. Only a handful have outright rejected me pre/post-II, placed me on a pre-interview hold, or otherwise. Most have not provided any update

wait, are you referring to an interview or a secondary? you're telling me VCU didnt contact you even 5-6 months post interview invite? that sounds really wrong....

Anyone interview for FmStat that is willing to share their experience?
Yeah! I interviewed for both FmStat and for the main School of medicine. They are two separate interviews and you can only get into fmstat if you first get into the school of medicine. The fmstat was the day before my main interview day and was very chill! The people were very kind and conversational.
They really want to know why you want to practice family medicine, so I challenge you to do you best to understand the speciality and your reasons for choosing it!
The program seems like a really nice community that isn’t extremely time consuming. I really hope I can get into both! 😁

Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate the feedback. That sounds great (Eased my nerve about it). I'm sure you did well and I hope you get that A soon!

For accepted students, is there anything else to do after we submitted the matriculation form and the deposit? I am going to fill out FAFSA soon and didn't wanna miss anything like submitting transcripts and what not.

Hi everyone!

Member of VCU SOM student government here! Just wanted to drop the link to the official Facebook group for recently accepted students: Facebook Groups

Also, I want to wish you all good luck with your applications! Applications are a waiting game, try to take some time for yourself and don't give up!

Interview invite yesterday at 6 PM. Complete 09 AUG. OOS (MD), LM: 70, ORM, non-trad veteran.

For those that interviewed, is there an option to speak with current students in like a panel or something?
