How has Wayne done waitlists in the past? is it usually alongside acceptances, or are they released later in the cycle? Also, when they accept off the waitlist, is it random or are people ranked on the waitlist?
They do waitlist, but they don't reject which is weird. My understanding is for Wayne, interviews are practically done by Nov/Dec, and they continue sending acceptances until March/April. Waitlist is probably insurance for extra seats which don't have matriculants, so they begin that movement in May.

In past years, it looks like they’ve seen some really early waitlist movement, like Oct/Nov. I’m sure the bulk of it of it is later on — but for anyone who does get a WL soon, while it’s probably best to prepare mentally for a long wait, there seems to be a chance (at least historically) that you could hear back before spring!

but when do they start putting people on waitlists historically? Is it in October, right alongside acceptances? is it normal that they haven't waitlisted anyone yet?

There are various ways that schools can manage their application process.
Some schools will only notify for acceptances and leave the rest to be reconsidered and compared to future people.
Some schools put you in the WL zone as they go along, and others don’t even create a WL until April

last year they did some WLs on the 17th along with As, in addition to As on the 15th. This cycle is a bit different so far so only time will tell I guess

how long does it typically take to hear back with a decision (if its an A or WL)

Looks like we might have some decisions here in the next couple hours based on the last few weeks' threads.

Did we need to do anything after accepting our seat for admission after an A? Did anyone get a confirmation email or something?

I know this has likely been asked already, but do you guys know why Wayne State hasn't sent many waitlists out this year? Apparently they normally send them out along with the acceptances.

No way to really know unless admissions says something. Could be because they’ve gotten more apps this year, but their pattern last year was different from two cycles ago, so I think changes are normal

Do we think there is any hope for the August Interviewees? I have had radio silence 🙁

I’m sure someone on here knows…. is this school p/f?
current student - your preclinical human body foundations (M1) and human disease foundations (M2) courses which encompass all the basic sciences are pass/fail by trimester, but then if you do well enough during the whole year you will be able to honor that course for the year. Last year this threshold was at 92% average I believe. Your individual exams will be given a grade but you just need a 70 overall to pass, so essentially if you were to mess up an exam and get a 65 or something you can still make it out fine! Your other courses (service learning, clinical skills, etc.) are pass/fail and cannot be "honored."

Im an OOS student so I was wondering if someone can shed light on the housing situation at Wayne State? I would appreciate it so much!!

Ok so from what I understand is that you aren’t competing against your classmates it seems? There’s no internal ranking system besides this “honoring” of courses?

me sitting here with OOS with a 503 and 3.91 according their grade replacement dying inside. Congrats for the II's to all yall

Yeah if you have done 20 credits post bacc or grad work, then they will treat your GPA as that GPA.
No way seriously??? I would’ve done that I had no idea lool GPA is my weak point in my app

Thats what it says on the MSAR, whether they do it or not i do not know
Also on their website policies section:

"If an applicant has a less than competitive GPA, the Admissions Committee recommends 20 credits of coursework in didactic science (BCPM) either as a post-bachelor student or in a graduate program before application. If an applicant has 20 credits of coursework in didactic science (BCPM) either as a post-bachelor or graduate student on the transcript when they apply, the Committee will consider that science GPA instead of the undergraduate science GPA. The Committee is looking for a strong science GPA as evidence that an applicant can be successful in medical school."

looks like they're doing some pre-II rejections on a rolling basis per admit. I wonder if I'll hear any decision back soon, given that I interviewed about a month and a week ago.
Hopefully we’ll hear something tomorrow. Praying
