I was wondering just how important are 2nd year grades to my application. Do I just need to stay above a 3.0 to be competitive for a residency in Texas?
2nd year grades.

Just as in college, grades are important all years. Program directors will look for trends. However, the most emphasis is placed on your clinical clerkship grades.

I got straight B's during second year at UTHSCSA. And got my first choice in the match.
Your letters during third year are vital as are evals. Get to know Hnatow in the ED. He can really help you out.
