I heard a firework! Just one! Kind of lonely, but I’m sure the police are on their way so they’ll have lots of company soon.

My neighbors will shoot off fireworks for anything. I recall some particularly feisty mother's days and a Cinco de Mayo that involved both fireworks and an actual mariachi band that played in their garage all day

Had about an hour of fireworks interspersed with what were clearly shotguns firing. Then a bunch of high schoolers walked around the neighborhood with marching drums and trumpets. (They were surprisingly in rhythm which makes me think they're marching band nerds but the coolest ones ever)

Actually, there was already a tie and I switched to her 10 minutes before close.

Back in the Space Needle, investigation had nearly come to a halt following the re-opening of it to the public, now that the holidays were over. A few were trying to stay inconspicuous, but it that was rather hard being that it is a high profile area. The security team that had traveled back with the others at least made it possible for them to come and go as they needed without paying the entrance fee.
The good news was that they had found something of interest the previous day. In one of the janitorial closets was a strange machine that looked like nothing any of them had ever seen. Somebody purposed that it was the time machine that brought them to the past.
Unfortunately, it was for all intents and purposes broken. Not a single person that remained knew how to fix it.
The young, investigative college student had slight recollection of talking to an electrical engineer during the party, but couldn't well remember what she looked like. Nonetheless, she had left in the morning with the intention of tracking her down, and was returning now by herself.
She approached one of the familiar security guards at the base of the elevator.
"Hey, Carly. Were you able to find her?" the guard inquired.
"No. No, I didn't. I wandered through the Seattle Center and asked a few others I saw along the way, but nobody else knew who I was talking about. I'm hopeful she'll come back on her own."
"That's unfortunate. We'll hold on hope. Are you hungry? I have some pull with the restaurants upstairs."
"Starving. I actually have some other news, too, which is why I came back so early."
"What's that?"
Carly looked nervous, breaking eye contact to look at her feet.
"Someone from our party already died here. I passed by a store that had the news playing in the window. They were talking about a death of a reporter and I recognized her."
She recalled the story to the guard,
"BREAKING NEWS
A great tragedy has occurred. One of our own, our very best reporter, is dead. She was struck down in the prime of her life, while she was working on a masterpiece of Backstreet Boys history. We mourn her loss, and honor her with this a capella collection"
"I picked up a newspaper to show everyone. Doesn't she look familiar?"
She held out the paper to the guard with the photo of the reporter.
He pondered for a minute.
"Yes... I remember, actually."
"She'll never get to go back."
Carly started to break out in tears. The guard embraced her.
"Come on. Let's go get something to eat."
They got in the elevator to go up.
