aacpmas 2016/2017 cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you. I hope the commuting works out for you because I live in Queens and If accepted, I plan to live around the campus.

It won't be too bad, I think. Also, I'll most only doing for the first term, since I'll only be take 2 classes, 10 credits total. But once the summer comes around, I'll start to see what apartment options there are near the school.

Accepted at Kent! First one doesn't even feel real.

Holy cow all those years of undergrad study finally paid off.

1,000$ deposit tho, looks like I'm working overtime next month!

CONRATS! That's amazing! It feels good, doesn't it? As if all the pain and stress of the past several years just dissipated with the phrase "We are pleased to inform you..."

Thanks everyone!

Also just got an invite to DMU. love the turnaround on pod applications.

Congrats dude. I'm over here calling and email getting no feedback from any of the admission staff. Like a rejection would be better than no response lol

Thanks man. I'm sure ur merry Christmas is coming soon too. I got a feeling.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Not getting back replies to my emails is the let down. Happy Holidays!

Does anyone know if it's possible to send in your app without having all prerequisites completed? I know schools sometimes tell students they want to see a final transcript.

If there's like one prerequisite course left, could a student still submit the app and then just send then final prerequisite grade once the semester ends?

Yes. You can apply while being enrolled in prereq courses.

Yes. You can apply while being enrolled in prereq courses.

Hm.. last time I was almost applying, it didn't give me the option to submit because I was still enrolled in classes. I imputed it that I'm presently enrolled in classes.

For next year, how would I go about submitting my app for verification even though I'll be enrolled in my last prereq when the cycle opens?

I'm on mobile now, so can't really post pictures. If my question is unclear, let me know and when I get home I'll upload some screen shots so you can see what I'm talking about

I'm currently enrolled in classes (not prereqs though), and I was able to submit my application this cycle. Did you put "still attending" in the Colleges Attended section before you did the "courses in progress" in the Transcript Entry section? And did you also get to the Review & Finalize My Transcripts section that pops up after you finish your transcript entry? I don't think you can submit until you do the review & finalize section.

You might also want to email AACPMAS b/c they can look at your account and tell you what the problem is. Even if you don't plan on submitting this cycle, it might be good to know for next!

I'm guessing the p/s had to be submitted first before you see the submit and verify button?

Yeah, you have to fill out everything before you can submit. Your dashboard will tell you if every section is complete. For example, once you finish the "Personal Information" sections, it'll turn green and say "7/7 sections completed."

was it a conditional acceptance? Where they told you to complete before matriculating?

I had a conditional acceptance but not for pre Recs. I just need my pod letter sent. They allowed me to sub biochemistry for organic 2

I have been calling Kent all this week and both admission ladies aren't answering the calls. I emailed them both and no answer. So far no acceptance/rejection letter or email. Should I chalk this up as a silent rejection?

Nope. I'm afraid YOU are not allowed to do that, my friend. Acceptance/Rejection lies on the hands of the ad coms. So nope.

Don't give up hope yet, man. It's the holidays, this year it falls on a Sunday so many offices took off from Friday. Some even on Thursday and Monday's another day off for some people. This is a bad time to reach any administrative folks.

Stay positive! You'll get in! Why count yourself out when you're still in it?

Meh, u will be fine. Just give them a little bit of time, they are Polly doing stuff in reverse order.

I'm pretty sure ur gonna be ok. Kent has the largest class size, and people will decide to go other places.

You're going to be okay no matter what the outcome. If you don't get in now you will after you have taken your upcoming MCAT and get a better score. Keep studying. Things have a way of working out for the best.

Hello,

I am super excited to be seeing all the chatter on acceptances and building up hope for everyone. I can tell you that it was a rough road for me and to be here with all the support makes everything worth it. I am blessed for this opportunity. I must thank each and every one of you. This is why I want to be in podiatry. I am not belittling any other profession, but in my eights years in medicine, I have never seen the charisma and comradery than a podiatrist. I wish everyone the best of luck. To those that will be attending DMU in the fall, I will see you there. For those that are only looking, godspeed on your journey.

Interview invite at AZ. Should I go? I know it's one of the strongest programs out there but I'm running out of cash fast.

If you could take money out of the equation would you go? If yes, then make it happen. If no, no worries.

Hi all, I've posted once or twice before here, but got no response. Is anyone interviewing at Scholl in North Chicago on the 9th of January? PM if so. Happy New Year!

Hello, fellow aspiring pods! To those of you who got interview invites to DMU and subsequently, got acceptances, do you mind sharing your stats? Also, does anyone know how many applications DMU gets per year/how many they interview/how many acceptances they send out? Thanks.

Cant help you out with the acceptance part (not yet at least) but I received an interview from DMU.

Stats: 3.4ish cumulative GPA, 3.1 science, low 490s, Lots of ECs, not completely ugly, charming personality, unfunny joke teller.

"Not completely ugly" OH THANK GOD....that was the part I was worried about 😛

Seriously, thanks for the reply! I'm just sitting here freaking out. I wish I knew how many people get accepted post-interview/the number of people they interview, you know what I mean?

I was accepted (with scholarship) and will be attending DMU! 3.4 cumulative, 3.2ish science, 504 mcat. Don't freak out! Hope to see you there next year

3.4 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, 498 MCAT

decent extracurriculars, volunteering in hospitals and other aspects. around 50 hours of shadowing 2 different pods in 2 different states. Accepted with scholarship.

If you get an interview, you have a pretty good chance of getting in. I think they interview around 150 applicants each year. Of those a large percentage actually get accepted since many students get accepted and decide to attend another school. There are 54 seats. Id bet around 100 probably get accepted each year by the end.

Congrats! And okay wow, 150. So they must have cut a bunch of people out pre-interview, since I know they get about 500-600 applications each year. Thanks for the info.

C/S GPA was 3.2. MCAT was 493. I have a massive list of extra curricular such as; Firefighter, Paramedic, over 7000 documented volunteer hours.

Wow! A firefighter! That is very cool. Also, congrats. 🙂 and thanks.

Thank you very much. It is quite a thrilling career. The waiting game gave me a ton of sleepless nights. Mind sharing your stats? Don't have to if you don't want. As you can see, there are many variations on stats that were accepted. I for one was in your shoes. I was asking almost everybody on 'What are my Chances'. My stats are not that impressive, yet I got in. Hang in there and you must let us know the outcome.

No need to be nervous. You got an ii because they saw something that they like. Go there and give them a reason not to reject you

Thanks I'm trying to calm down. Temple is my first choice, and I think Temple's average MCAT is 23, and 491 is equivalent to 21, so hopefully my GPA will offset the mcat.

Try not to stress it so much. They knew you were below their MCAT average and still sent you an interview invite so you're good.

Get your interview attire ready, run through some practice questions, and wait for your acceptance letter.

You got this!

Hi guys.. does anyone know if it is possible to apply to August 2017 and January 2018 for NYCPM? Or do I have to choose one of them and wait to see if I get in first?

Also, although NYCPM is my first choice, in comparison to TUSPM what are the pros/cons to each?

Thank you! Apologizes for the scattered topics in the same message.

Your GPA is AMAZING!!! Good job!! I think you will be fine; an interview invite means there's a seat in their class waiting for you. All you have to do is show them that you are a good, sincere, compassionate, well-spoken individual, and that spot is officially yours. Good luck!

GPA like that would offset your mcat.

Bein a bit neurotic man. Relax. Keep your composure. You got this.

I believe you can only choose to apply to one of them at a time and wait to see if you get in before you apply for the next term. I'm not totally sure but I think I remember I tried to apply to both terms at the same time and it wouldn't let me.
