hey do u know when your application was complete?

hey, just got off the phone with the admissions office and they said the next round of acceptances should go out tomorrow and on monday. they said they are pretty backed up this week because of graduation so acceptance emails might not go out tomorrow, even if a decision has been made on your application. I was told to call the office tomorrow before they close (430 central time) if i wanted to know whether a decision has been made on my app. good luck guys.

I m also applying to GT, Tulane, drexel. What about you?

So when did they actually first start accepting people? Last week? How many people applied this year? Do you know the avg stats of people being accepted or a range they are looking for? Thanks .

At any point in the application do they even ask you for your gpa?

You send in transcripts, so they get it. I just sent my file from the med school to the graduate school because I had applied there, so it was a pretty easy application

I ve got 3 transcripts. Will they calculate the overall composite gpa on their own? Or just go with my main transcript?

Hahah sorry I know you re not an admissions officer.

haha, it's alright. If you have three I'd just send all three in, i imagine they'll calculate the composite, because they took my AMCAS one, which is a composite. Have you already sent everything in? The application has to be postmarked by the 1st of june, and transcripts and what not have to be in their hand by the 15th.

Working on it as we speak.....plan to mail it out tommorow.

Although this has no bearing on the new BMS program, the unofficial numers for AP graduates is 62 (50-60% of the starting class) Pretty much like the years before. I know a few (2-3) of them who will be declining their matriculation to CMS this year. This is the number of APers who completed the cirriculum with a 2.96 or greater.

I imagine BMS students will be held to a higher, and less set in stone, standard. Good luck guys! 👍

any idea how high this standard might be?

no clue. I think they are intentionally not setting a standard cutoff so that they can reject or accept students more on a basis of merit and character, and how well they match up to the regular pre-med applicants.

although u probably wouldnt know this, i was wondering how the interview process is going to work for the bms kids. the ap'ers were all interviewed around the same time right? i wonder if this will hold true for bms students. or perhaps they will be interviewed just like any other applicants.

hey everyone, whats going on?

I was accepted to the BMS program at RFU on 5-26.

My stats: overall GPA 3.41
BCPM: 3.26
MCAT: 27 M

so i received an email stating my acceptance, and then a packet in the mail 6/5. kinda of short notice when they want a signed form from the packet AND $100 by 6/9.

i only applied to 2 SMP RFU and the one at Medical Univ of Ohio. Last check with MUO they were making decisions the first week of June, which is now. I'm calling in the morning to see if I have been accepted. Really I haven't heard anything really good or really bad about either program. I would probably go to MUO if accepted, cheaper tuition and cost of living.

BUT right now i have only been accepted to RFU, so i'm planning for chicago. i will be apartment hunting july 9-15(ish?) and looking for roomies, anyone? move in sometime around the 25th/26th. chicago is a LONG way from sunny san diego, ca.

no more shorts, sandals and the beach 🙁

Our summers are just as nice as san diego, everyone wears shorts then, and they often go to the beach! ... ... ... of lake michigan *cough* 😀

Did RFU send you an email or any form of notification when they received your application? I m wondering if I should call and see if my application reached the school? I send it June 1 (hahah I know I m a major procrastinator).

I would call (although its tough to get through) just to make sure they have recieved all your application materials. If they are missing something they still might let you send it in if you do it quickly.

I am still waiting to hear back from RFU. I called and they said they're doing bi-weekly acceptances, so they will review apps again next week. I'm bummed b/c I really want to go to this program and stay in Chicago, but if I don't hear back soon, I will most likely have to find a place in Boston for the other program that accepted me. Is anyone else in this situation?

On another note, is everyone going to apply this cycle to med school or wait until the program is over to apply? Do you think RFU will still grant the interview for med school if you apply to med school after the master's program?

I withdrew my acceptance yesterday, it's little pricey compared to other programs. Good luck to those still waiting to hear.

Anyone who got into RFU, I'm living in the Northern Crossing Apartments right now. If you don't want to go through the hassle of buying/moving new furniture... I'd love to sell mine to you. If you move into this apt, maybe you could just move right in! PM me if interested.

damn dirty apes.

I got accepted, but was curious: when exactly should I complete the AMCAS to get the guaranteed interview?

If I submit and AMCAS now, they could be interviewing me by November at earliest or at least some time during the program itself.

If I submit an AMCAS next June, then I'll still have to deal with a glide/lag/dead year, right?

How does the school notify you of acceptance/non acceptance? Initial email, letter?

I got an email notification first - they'll send the paperwork, and formal letter in the snail mail.

Dam........so no email notification = no acceptance?

WHen are they making the finals decisions?

I'm not sure exactly about final decisions, but from what it sounds like: there are a few separate waves of acceptances. The emails also arrived at various times, so your application might still be under review. The best thing you can do to find out, though, is to call and ask.

Orientation starts on July 28th... but RFU's been known to deal out acceptances abysmally close to the first day of instruction (at least among people I know).

They made a few acceptances last Friday. They're supposed to make a larger batch this week. When I called last Fri, the admissions officer said they are making bi-weekly acceptances all the way through orientation, which I guess is the end of July. So, pretty much it is a waiting game and it kinda stinks! :scared:

I was bored and saw this link. Man..... I've been in your shoes... but think of it this way... 100/150 you have a great chance of getting in. My class was 100/400 and last years class was 120/500. Don't get too depressed yet as they accept people until the day before orientation!

Good luck to those of you who are waiting. I'm pretty sure they will answer your questions during orientation and will tell you what you need to do to get an interview for your desired program.

Markboonya...... I hope you get in! Then maybe my old high school buddy will join us the following year! I'll probably be moving back into the library next year so we can kick each other's asses if anyone is getting lazy. I was lazy my first two years....... so need to do major catch up work next year if I want to get my first choice in residency!

100 out of 150? Is that all the people that applied? If so will they reject anyone? Probably put you on waitlist till the class is officially at 100.

Has the school sent out all their decisions? Still havent heard anything? Should I assume i wasnt accepted? Waitlisted? Should I call the school to find out about the status of my app? Are they still reviewing apps?

It would be great to find out soon so I can arrange stuff.

Congrats man....GT will be a great program.

Just got an acceptance email..........waiting to hear back from one more school before I make a decision.

Good to know I m accepted atleast one place.

I too was accepted by email this afternoon as well. It sounds like a great program! I will certainly think about, but hopefully I will get off the waitlist at a particular med school, instead...

hey nrai, mind posting your stats?

Any nice housing near RFU?

Houses, apts, condos? Where do most of the other students live? Near the campus? Far away from the campus?

Is the area near the campus nice?

So with all the changes to the program. Do you still take medical school courses OR are they graduate school courses.

There is a guaranteed interview to any of the programs at RFU, but anyone have any idea of what that really means? Is it basically the 3.0 guarantee?

😕 😕

I just finished the AP program and from what I have heard that this new program does not have a 3.0 "wink wink" guarantee. I think they are trying to make it more like the GT SMP rules where it is not a set cut off but rather who the admissions feels is a good candidate for CMS.

The other thing that I heard that the RFUMS changed the schools that this program belongs to (From the graduate school --> school of health sciences) because if one does not maintain a 3.0, they will not recieve the Masters. We started with 108 people and 61 got the Masters. Changing to the Health Sciences School will allow most people to get the degree for completing the program. It helps people do more things with this degree instead of having a masters in "I want to go to med school". I actually think this is positive change.

I wish you guys all the best!!! It is so crucial to do well in the beginning because many people this year did not make it at the end. Fight hard in the first two quarters, especially in Physio! Its an uphill battle but is worth it in the end!!!

GOOD LUCK!

updated acceptance numbers for the last year of the AP are 65/108. A few people were not counted originally due to an investigation.

So 65 people had a 3.0+ gpa in the program?

So there is still a guaranteed interview. Do you guys have an idea of what this may mean? Will they still prehaps take a certain number of BMSers?

2.96 to be exact! (you can have two units or credit hrs. of Cs along with straight Bs)
