It appears like if Arizona University MPH is not a favourite on this forum - no one hardly says anything about it.
Please is there anyone out there who knows about the MPH at Arizona especially with respect to the strength and weaknesses of the program and which concentration is considered to be their strongest. I just got admission to this program and I am wondering.😕

I visited A of U Zuckerman in Tucson. I'm not sure AU (in Pheonix) has an accredited program. I don't know a ton about the program but their maternal child health stuff is pretty strong-- they actually have a specific certificate for folks in Indian Country (me) and Appalachia working in maternal/child health that is one year and online. U of A also has strong native and tribal program focuses in general; it's one of the only places in the country with native law and tribal community planning programs. It's pretty well connected to the rest of campus and quite easy to bike to and from. I had fun in Tucson when I toured there-- it definitely has a university town feel to it. I chose not to apply because of concerns over the budget cuts in Arizona.

Thanks a lot for that piece of information. Please I will appreciate more responses from members of the forum.:xf:

Hello. You have already heard back? Did they e-mail you your acceptance? I also do not know why there are barely any posts about Arizona's MPH. mhhhhmm...

Yes, I got notified by e-mail on Friday 2nd March. What Program did you apply to? Do you know anything about their MPH program especially in relation to networking, connections and the prospect of a fulfilling Public Health carrier?😕

I also applied there (Health Behavior and Health Promotion). The support staff was really helpful throughout the applicaiton process. I don't know much about their reputation either, but I like their focus on regional health issues.

I'm still waiting for an admission decision, but I heard it was supposed to happen this week **

Arizona is an accreditted school of public health: http://www.asph.org/document.cfm?page=1107

Yes, University of Arizona in Tuscon (Zuckerman) is accredited. Arizona State University, which is in Tempe/Phoenix, does not have an accredited program. We are in agreement. I was trying to be clear as the original poster asked about Arizona University, which seemed more like ASU than U of A.

Is it that University of Arizona has not started churning out admission decisions? Or else how would one explain the "dryness" of this thread?
Does anybody know what the funding possibilities are like at U of A mph? Response from someone already in the program will be greatly appreciatted.

Thanks in advance.:xf:

AlanP, I just heard back from U of A - accepted into the MPH health behavior and health promotion program. I also have the same questions as you, so feedback from current students would be wonderful.

ferweh,

I'm in for health behavior and health promotion too! Just heard yesterday. Yeah, there isn't a lot of information on the board about AZ. I am very curious. My impressions from the program online and through correspondence are very positive. However, I'm not sure the reputation of the school has just gone unnoticed or if the program doesn't have a lot to offer.

I imagine that because the school is in the southwest it doesn't attract too many applicants???? Not sure, but that's one of the most appealing things to me...the location. I know that the school won't release initial financial/assistantship offers until 04/01.

Let me know if you get any good tidbits! 😳

I got into the PhD program in epi. I was contacted by my advisor who offered me a position as a reasearch specialist which would cover my tuition and health insurance. Unfortunate, I declined my admission to elsewhere. That being said I do think it is a great school with really great faculty. Good luck to all of you!

Eh guys, has anyone heard from university of arizona college of public health rebarding funding? They said 1st april but that was a Sunday. I'm just wondering. Similarly, for those who attended the admitted student day program last Friday, what is your impression? Thanks on advance for your responses.

Haven't heard anything about funding yet, but I'm still crossing my fingers! I'll let you know if I happen to hear anything from them this week.

Thanks t0486. My fingers remain crossed too! Hopefully before this week runs out one should have a well-defined idea of how things would be!

Comments from anyone with relevant information will be appreciatted.:xf:

I have been accepted but I am declining, Tucson is a small city, MPH programs are made to have a broader perspective of health, the only great thing of UofA are the migration public health issues you can be in touch with, besides that i dont think It worths it.

Has anyone heard anything about funding yet?

NOTHING. I emailed last week, but haven't heard anything back. Hard to decide by April 15, without any info

I haven't heard anything either. I am wondering if they're behind on the deadline since they were all over the map as far as sending out admissions decisions (supposed to get decisions by March 15th, but many didn't get decisions until after March 20th, though some got earlier). Not cool. I also have to decide by April 15th for other schools, so I'm feeling sort of irked.

Has anyone completed University of Arizona's Online MPH program? I'm thinking of applying but want feedback before I do so. Please share your experience of the program!
